And so far traffic moving into the valley looks good all the way to livermore and then to pleasanton. Also looking at a live picture 880 northbound and southbound, you can see traffic is moving along very nicely. Just about 15 minutes ago trump tweeted i have chosen one uft truly great Business Leaders of the world to be secretary of state. Tillersons close ties with russia have raised concerns with republican and democratic lawmakers. Tillerson doesnt have any government experience, but in a Statement Released this morning, the president elect praises him as among the most accomplished Business Leaders and International Deal makers in the world. President elect trump canceled a News Conference he had scheduled for this thursday where he was planning to discuss the future of his business empire. Instead he tweeted that he will be leaving his business before his inauguration on january 20th so he can focus full time on the presidency. Well, today both the Oakland City Council and Alameda County board of supervisors are expected to vote on a term sheet that could help pave the way for a new stadium for the clawntd raiders. The stadium would be built where the current Oakland Coliseum is. The blue you see outlined on that map is the property own bid both the city and the county. Reporter chris stobins cofounder of save oakland sports is ronnie lotts Investment Group has proposed paying all Construction Costs to replace the current stadium with a new stadium that would seat about 55,000 people and take up to three years to build there would also be retail, a hotel and possible Housing Developments as part of the deal. City officials have been concerned about risking public money. Bonds from a previous stadium renovation are still being paid off. The city is paying 10 million, the county is paying 10 million a year for the renovations that were done at the coliseum in 96, but if the raiders leave, were still going to have to pay those bonds off. Reporter if the term sheet is approved, the city and county would provide a long term lease or sale of 130 acres surrounding the current stadium, valued at about 150 million. 15 acres on the north side would be reserved for an oakland days ballpark if the Baseball Team decides to privately finance it. It does not include or acle arenas 10acre space as long as the warriors remain there. The city would invest about 200 million in infrastructure bonds. That money would not come from the general fund but from tax revenue generated by the new coliseum project. And i understand the argument, well, these are billionaire owners, millionaire appliers, why does the city have to put a nickel in there . Again, the city is reaping a lot of benefits from there. New this morning, a mechanical problem an an American Airlines plane bound for San Francisco forced it to make an unscheduled landing last night in phoenix, arizona. The American Airlines flight was headed from charlotte, North Carolina to sfo. Weve been told the pilots found a problem with the fluid pressure and they diverted the plane to Sky Harbor Airport in phoenix. The passengers were taken off that plane. The plane was checked out and towed to the gate. American airlines put those passengers on another flight to sfo. In the meantime a Lufthansa Airlines flie flight from houston, texas to frankfurt, germany was diverted last night to new yorks jfk airport because of a bomb threat. That plane with 530 passengers and crew members landed at jfk and was searched. But authorities didnt find anything suspicious. The passengers had to be rescreened. Authorities say someone phoned in a credible threat to lufthansas Corporate Office in germany. The aerial tweeted that the flight was the airline tweeted that the flight was diverted as a precaution. A suspect has been arrested over the weekend after a dispute in monterey county. Another suspect, Daniel Porter kelly was arrested last month. Investigators say those men and a third suspect killed william sims outside the capri club on november 12th. Investigators say sims pulled the trigger and that sims was targeted because of his race. Sims family was in court yesterday at the preliminary hearing for Daniel Porter kelly was continued. It was a challenge for them to make the decision that they wantd to come out, that they wanted to hear, you know, the dirty details, but its important. They want to know what happened to their son, they want to know why it happened now, the third suspect, Daniel Ortega remains at large. San Francisco Police are investigating a deadly stabbing in the castro district. Officers received a call just before 3 00 yesterday afternoon about a stabbing outside a post office near 18th and diamond streets. Happening today, the Berkeley City Council is expected to vote on measures to help the homeless crisis. An Advocacy Group has proposed tents, garbage and santation on a site. Advocates say the proposal comes after a homeless encampment was raided this year for the 19th time in two months. All of the recent rain is helping to fill up reservoirs around northern california. The water level has gone up 18 feet at fol some lake, east of sacramento and thats in less than a week. And with more rain coming, the bureau of recognize la medication plans to reclaimation plans to open the flood gates for the first time in five years. That will double the amount of water that flows past the fol some dam and into the American River and into the delta. Plans to retrofit one of the bay areas biggest dams is going to take more time and more money to complete. The Santa Clarita valley Water District was hoping to Start Construction in early 2018 on earthquake upgrades to anderson dam. But now that work wont even begin until 2020 and thats not the only problem. The original 200 million price tag is now expected to go up to at least 400 million. According to the bay area news group, the reason for the delay is a new geological study showing the upstream side of the dam is at risk of collapsing in a big earthquake. A woman in los angeles accused of stealing a car was finally captured after leading authorities on a high speed chase on freeways and city streets. Sheriffs deputies spotted that stolen car about 7 00 p. M. There it is. They chased her on two freeways then back onto city streets. She ran red lights, almost hit other cars out there on the road. The pursuit ended about an hour and a half later when the woman got out of the car and then started running, like you see her here. Authorities quickly caught her and used a taser to stop her. Glad no one was hurt. Well, theres a big repair job under way on the San Mateo County coastline. Yesterday we told you about the giant sinkhole that opened up in pacifica. It swallowed part of the path and stairway that leads to the beach. Two Apartment Buildings on esplin avenue were declared unsafe and demolished last spring. One unit was found condemned because it was found so close to the crumb nling cliff there. The city says the path to the beach is on private property, so the land owner has to fix it, and the owner says hes already taking steps to do that and that the work could be finished early next week, possibly sooner depending on the weather. What we gotta diso right now is plug that area, fill it up with some concrete pumping and do whrafer needs to be done after that. The city of pacifica says it also has received reports of new bluff erosion the 310 esplinat avenue and has contacted an expert to take a look and make some recommendations. Many neighbors say they expect the condemned Apartment Building at that address that youre looking at there will likely be demolished soon. 4 15. President obama during an appearance on the daily show explained why he ordered a full review into potential hacking aimed at influencing the recent president ial election. The reason that i have called for a review is really just to gather all the threads of the investigations. The intelligence work that has been done over many months and put it in a single document that can be shared with members of congress, relevant intelligence agencies, they can be shared with the Transition Team so that they understand what exactly happened. Were going to start off with the gilroy commute, and you can see the traffic here in gilroy getting up into san jose not bad as you drive the whole distance into morgan hill. Its been a very nice looking drive and no major issues. People who get on the road early at the very least you have this, a nice looking commute when you get there. Also looking at a commute on the san mateo bridge, it looks good, and visibility is good all the way out to foster city. And finally at the bay bridge we always look at this, and traffic is light coming into San Francisco. So right now is a good time to go, and i dont see any weather issues right now. But the man with the answers on that is steve. Okay, man, where . Who, where . Not this morning, sal. Reporter okay, good. Well pass the torch to somebody else this evening and itll probably be them. But we have a lot of cloud cover on the way. Its already here for some. Its a low cloudhigh cloud deck and theres going to be some rain with this. Its going to take a while to develop. The whiter the tops, the colder the tops the better opportunity. Thats still offshore. But we do have to juice things up a little bit. Lower layers of the atmosphere a little dry. Kind of a strange pattern because if youre coast and bay, its not that bad. You get inland and you still get that easterly breeze and that cold air from the valley can filter in. Theres a big difference today between oakland and some inland areas, santa rosa. Today it will be more uniform because of the cloud cover. 40s on the temps. There are a few 30s, low 50s for some here. Kelseyville is 38, but 40s, 47 mill valley, 44 up in windsor. 28, 34 for truckee and also for reno, and then low 40s to mid 40s to even 50s from ukiah to sacramento. We have to wait for the deeper moisture, if you will to start working in. This is headed northward. The farther north you go, the better opportunity for some rain to develop. It will still be a cloudy day and temperatures continuing to be in the upper 50s and maybe a few low 60s towards the santa clara valley. But draw your attention to the moisture source which keeps streaming in. And as long as thats there, the possibility of rain. There wont be too much, say, south of San Francisco. Thats probably a little overdone for san jose. But tonight look where the bulls eye is. Its up north. Thats only going to continue. And then thursday will be our main system, late thursday and into friday and then the really cold air starts to spill in friday night into saturday. So looks pretty good for everybody. I mean, nothing we cant handle, but there could be some brief, really intense rain on thursday night. Ill get to that as we get closer to it. Be advised. Then tomorrow that whole system lifts northward, up near the oregon border, so well get a good southerly breeze that will be mild, and then i want to show you the lows as we head through the weekend. A new report shows three various cities are not only the expensive cities to live in, theyre pricey to build in as well. As ktvu tom reports, Even Developers are feeling the pinch. Reporter San Francisco, san jose and oakland are all in the top of the nations five most expensive construction locations along with new york city and chicago. Add in sacramento and los angeles and california has half of the nations top 10 most expensive places to build. Bay area building costs are about 80 more expensive than the National Average and there are three reasons why. One says the jll report is the pure desirability of corporations to expand or locate here. Michael wienberg is head of the Economic Institute of the bay area council, a consortium of the regions largest employers. I think the bay area is the center of the Global Innovation economy, so youll pay a premium to be here. Reporter on top of that, theres a severe shortage of qualified construction workers, construction unemployment is at a low of 4. 5 , the lowest level in 14 years. In mid2009 the construction Unemployment Rate was 18. 2 . In the last year alone construction worker wages are up a buck an hour to an average of 30, a new record high. Add to that extremely high prices for most building materials. So a slowdown appears to be in the offing. I dont know that beers going to have an enormous that were going to have an enormous downturn in the bay area, but were certainly going to have a downturn. We havent abolished the business cycle. Andy ball has headed some of the biggest Construction Projects in the bay area for the last quarter century and now is a meg project consultant. Ball says bay area building costs have doubled since 2012 to the very edge of unaffordability. About eight months to 12 months ago we saw the rental rates and the for sale rates peak out and decline slightly. Reporter even the Biggest Developers have now flinched. And theyre looking at the costs now and saying, ub, i cant afford you know, i cant afford to do that. I dont have that much financing, i cant afford to make a return that i want. Time is now 4 25. A san jose man convicted in a deadly dui crash was sentenced to six years in prison. Police say 20yearold carlos vialabos had a blood alcohol level of. 20 just before christmas of last year when his car hit several other cars. The driver of one of those cars, 36yearold Carlos Enrique torres was killed. Rialabos pled guilty to all charges. Yesterday in court he said he was sorry. The widow told the court that vialabos does not know the pain of not being able to say good bye. This has been very hard on them. Obviously he has a young daughter, shes only 5 years old. Its been very difficult for her and very difficult for his widow. Prosecutors were pushing for a 10year prison sentence, but the judge imposed six years since vialabos admitted his guilt and does in the have a criminal past. Also in san jose, Police Arrested a man they say was responsible for a deadly hit and run. Investigators say 24yearold Jonathan Ruiz hit and killed a pedestrian at heading and 15th streets early saturday morning. The victims name hasnt been released.
