Just a little bit of rain will help the vegetation regrow but a heavy down pour would be a disaster. Erosion is also a concern in sierra foothills, in the area burned last year, Calaveras County Public Works Department says it needs to remove thousands of dead trees that can fall over if the ground is water logged. Officials are working to get funding from office of Emergency Services and fema to get rid of some of the trees. They may vote on boosting a hotel tax to pay for a new stadium in las vegas that may become the home of the oakland raiders. The bill already passed Nevada State Senate by a vote of 165. It needs 2 3 majority in the assembly to pass. Some say the nevada governor wouldnt have called the special legislative session if he didnt think he had the votes. The raiders would still need approval from other nfl team owners to move to las vegas. A driver in antioch is arrested on suspicion of dui after crashing his pickup truck into a house. This happened just before 7 30 on lone tree way. The driver was speeding when he hit two parked cars and slammed into that house. A gas main ruptured and people in the area had to be evacuated until the gas could be turned off. One person in the house suffered minor injuries after hit with debris from the crash. There was one occupant home and the vehicle just missed him, hit a wall on the other side of him. He is going to the hospital with injuries to be evaluated. The driver was still sitting inside the truck when Police Arrived and he was not hurt. Walnut creek is looking for a new city manager. The current city manager will leave in january for a firm that provides Financial Consulting to local governments. Prop 53 has a rich backer who spent 4 million of his money on the measure. He opposes another huge project that could be stymied. His plan to build a pair of tunnels under the delta. Finally, prop 51 borizov authorize the state to issue 9 billion in bonds to build and repair schools across the state. 3 billion would Fund Building of new k through 12 schools and another 3 billion to modernize the schools, 2 billion for Community Colleges and 1 billion for charter school. Prop 51 is supported and largely funded by building industry and opposed by Governor Brown who thinks it doesnt do enough to help poorer School Districts in the state. We still see decent traffic out there but of course we have been telling you that the rain will probably make it change. From gilroy to san jose it is a nice looking drive and continues to be a nice drive into san jose through morgan hill and into the major parts. From gilroy to san jose, its not a bad commute at all. Taking a look at the san mateo bridge, the traffic looks good. Gusty winds and rain will arrive later. Right now it looks heading to the high rise and peninsula. At the bay bridge it is still dry although we saw an earlier picture of wet weather at the Richmond Bridge crossing. That wet weather is working across the north bay and will be shifting to the central and south bay into the morning hours. We are looking at winds picking up with a front as well, can be gusting to near 40 Miles Per Hour at times. Here is a look at the storm. The brunt is still to the north of us, a good amount of rain over northern california. We will go back to the north bay where we are beginning to see it pick up. Along the coastline from bodega bay, it will shift inland to petaluma, highway 101. To the east we have st. Helena and these communities right in here with some light rain. As we get into the second part of your morning it will begin to shift into the central bay and then into the south bay by late morning. I will show you that in futurecast in a moment. Lets talk about the winds. 6 00 am. We are picking up winds to 20 Miles Per Hour around half moon bay, 20 napa. At 10 00, 26 Miles Per Hour at half moon bay, 17 San Francisco. This is just a model. The take away is it will be very breezy especially along the coastline for the first part of the day. Thats when the rain is expected to pull through as well. By the second half of your friday we are going to be drying out. Here is 4 00 am time frame as we get into 6 00 or 7 00. It is moderate to heavy over portions of the north bay. Central and south bay is still waiting for the rain. By 8 00 it is shifting into the central bay. This is when we will see the heart of it through areas like oakland, concord, San Francisco along the peninsula. Notice san jose. It is 8 00 and san jose is still dry. At 2 00 in the afternoon, most of us are drying out. Anywhere from half inch to an inch of rain is expected for urban areas. Who will see more . Areas along the coastline could see in our hills three inches, santa cruz, an inch and a half. For most of us we are looking at half inch to an inch. Temperatures are in the 60s. 66 oakland, 63 mountain view. Afternoon highs today are in the mid to upper 60s, near 70. This is round one. We will get a break saturday. Hp is planning to cut thousands of jobs in one of the two Companies Formed after Hewlett Packards split last year. It told analysts it plans to cut 3 to 4000 jobs over the next three years. The company has been 50,000 employees and expects to save as much as 300 million a year with the cuts. Hp inc. Focuses on pcs and printers, facing a big slump in sales. Stock fell about 1 after layoffs were announced. Verizon plans to shut down call centers in five states including in california. That is expected to affect about 3200 workers. Those employees are offered jobs at other locations or severance packages. This comes days after the Company Announced job cuts in Stores Nationwide as it deals with increasing competition in the wireless industry. Amazon is adding tens of thousands of jobs for the holidays. The Company Plans to hire 120,000 temporary positions at fulfillment centers, sorting facilities, Customer Service locations. 10,000 jobs are in california including the facility in tracy.
