Still an on shore breeze and for some rather blustery, especially in the higher elevations. 50s, 60s on the temps. Overall, look for a mostly sunny day. The fog is about half of what it was yesterday. I dont think theres much there. But that system sweeping in is going to dig all the way into Northern California and that will keep us on the cool side. 60s, 70s today, and some low 80s. Happy friday, sir. Same to you, steve. Happy friday, its 4 01. Traffic is actually doing very well if youre trying to get somewhere. Lets start off with the livermore super commute or the tracy super commute. A lot of people go from tracy to livermore to the altamont pass. Told is different because the friday before labor day, some people are not going in the morning, but definitely going this afternoon. As you drive into the valley it still looks good. The bay bridge toll plaza, heading over, if we have the toll plaza camera, we can show you traffic looks good. Its light. And in san jose, if you are bai and that is where brock turner is supposed to be processed out of jail. We have been looking there. If you come out here, outside to the view where we are, you can see there are tons of media here, more than 20 cameras are set up here on their tripods, barricades up waiting for him to come out. We know theres cameras in the back just in case he comes out that entrance. But at any minute he could come out. Were being told by the sheriff that brock turner will not receive special treatment when he leaves. Its supposed to happen between five and nine a. M. Sheriffs Officials Say releases are done during daylight hours. Were not sure if his family is going to be here to pick him up. Its likely hell be whisked away quickly in a waiting car. Extra sheriffs deputies are on hand because of the Media Attention and protesters who are expected to be here. We havent seen any yet. We also have barricades that are in place to hold people back. We are hearing from groups. We are also hearing that they will be calm. And i hope that thats true. But we dont know as far as fringe organizations or anything like that. Theres a lot of attention on this. Reporter turner was convicted of sexually assaulting an intoxicated unconscious woman. The judge sentenced him to six months in jail. That sentence set off a fire storm with people criticizing the judge anda massive effort to have him removed judge and a massive effort to have him removed from the bench. Hell also have to register as a sex offender there. Were also hearing that theres going to be protesters sometime tonight in ohio at brock turners parents home, you know, because a lot of them arent happy that he is going to be living there now. Pam. Thank you, janine. Were going to have more on that in a second. Thank you for covering that. Well check in with you throughout the morning, but as she was mentioning, brock turner is expected to return to his family home in ohio where he will spend the next three years on probation. The sheriff of green county, ohio, says the former stanford student will not receive any special treatment when he registers as a sex offender in that state. Now, green county sheriff gene fisher released this statement. Were not treating him with kid gloves. Were going to treat him like every other sex offender who comes through the doors. The brock turner case could lead to a new state law. Governor brown is considering a bill passioned bill state lawmaker passed by state lawmakers that will change laws for felony sexes ofs. It would create mandatory prison terms nor sex offenses. It would create mandatory prison terms for sex offenders. The punishment would be three or six years in prison which is a major difference than three months in county jail. Governor brown has until september 30th to make a decision on the bill. He has not said whether or not he would sign it. Time is 4 06. Now to the Colin Kaepernick National Anthem controversy. Last night, kaepernick and teammate eric reed kneeled down on one knee during the playing of the National Anthem. Now, in this photo you can clearly see kaepernick but eric reed who was in street clothing was partially blocked from the view of the camera. Kaepernick says his message about social justice was getting lost in the public criticism that he was disrespecting the military. He says getting down on one knee during the anthem was a way to show that he respects the military. Again, im not anti american, i love america. I love people. Thats why im doing this. I want to help make america better. And i think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody is coming from. Kaepernick also says he will donate 1 million this year to help improve communities and is considering an offer from San Francisco police and the Police Officers association to visit the police academy. And then there was another controversy swirling around kaepernick earlier yesterday, images spread throughout social media of him recently wearing socks known as pig cop socks, showing a pig wearing a police hat. The term pig is a negative term for the police. Kaepernick wrote on instagram that he has uncles and friends who are Police Officers and that he wore the socks to protest rogue cops who he said put fellow officers and the public in danger. Kaepernick was booed by chargers fans throughout the game. He received plenty of support from 49ers fans. As he was heading to the locker room, he visited with 49ers fans in a section near the end zone. They cheered him, gave him some high fives, snapped some selfies, they say the quarterback will always remain one of their favorites. Theres always been love for kap. 49er faithful all day. 49ers, thats right. Doesnt matter. Hey, its his right. Kaepernick played the first half of the game. He completed eleven of eighteen passes for 103 yards, led a touchdown drive. 489ers beat the charge 49ers beat the chargers in the final preseason game. A large crowd gathered at fire house grill and brewery in sunnyville, they kept the long standing tradition by standing for the National Anthem. There was mixed reaction regarding kaepernicks protest. Where you have a large number of people that are there that have sacrificed and have significant loss fighting for this country to sit on the bench and be disrespectful in an environment like that, i think its a horrible thing to do. I like that hes paying attention to it. I think its a subject that is a touchy subject that people dont want to hear about it. Most fans we spoke to say that they do support kaepernick for protesting racial injustice, but they say there is a time and a place and they do not feel its appropriate during the National Anthem. Seattle seahawks quarterback jeremy lane stayed seated during the National Anthem. After the game, lane said he did it mostly to show support for Colin Kaepernick. He said quote i wasnt trying to say anything, just standing behind kaepernick. The corner back said he didnt tell his teammates or coach he was planning to do it, and says he intends to continue to sit during the anthem until he feels justice is being served. The seahawks beat the raiders, 2321. This is new from overnight. Hermine made landfall in florida as a hurricane, but this morning, it has weakened to a tropical storm, as it moves further inland.
