The city of berkeley is concerned about the right wing rally planned for sunday at the Civic Center Park and the city council held a special meeting to vote on whether the city manager should have the power to make temporary rules to manage the large protests. Council members voted to approve the ordinance and the mayor is asking people not to attend the rally. City leaders in San Francisco want to stop that right wing rally planned for saturday at the crissy field. It is not just speech and those charges saying that the speech, they are missing the point. The group was issued a permit to have the rally at crissy field before the violence in charlotte build and the federal property belongs to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and the mayor ed lee wants the park service to reconsider the permit saying that other rallies organized by the same group have attracted white supremacists. After the deadly violence in charlottesville he wants to make sure he does not happen here. The San Francisco police said they will be ready in case. The violence will not be tolerated but people have a right to express themselves through the first amendment, the constitution. We are sworn to protect that oath. The organizer of the rally posted a message on facebook calling on people to be peaceful. He says that the purpose of the rally is for people to be able to exercise free speech rights. The Golden Gate National Recreational Area will make it the size a decisive decision on whether to go forth with the rally by friday. Jesse jackson adding his voice to remove the moderates of the monuments of the leaders of the confederacy. We are not going backwards. These factions must come down. Speaking at the Islamic Center of Southern California he calls for abolishing the elect oral College System saying it gives too much power to the smaller states and saying they should focus on the 2018 midterm elections rather than efforts to try to remove President Trump from the white house. Over the weekend the prominent confederate statue on the campus of Duke University was removed and the statue of robert e lee was defaced last week in the Duke University president decided to remove it after talking about the removal with faculty, alumni and student. The university of texas in austin began removing confederate statues on the campus calling them symbols of modern White Supremacy and neo naziism. No question that the total Solar Eclipse is a teachable moment and we have more on the challenge for teachers at the morning eclipse happens soon after the kids arrive for the first day back at school. Reporter the middle school teacher, allison and kim agree and they teach at the roosevelt junior high and allison remembers being in the seventh grade to see her first eclipse. I was in the bay area and i remember it was very cool and we made the pinholes things we reflected on to the notebooks and i remember it was weird and eerie but fun at the same time. Interstate 880 in oakland traffic moving well in both directions. The morning commute at the bay bridge toll plaza is light into San Francisco. Interstate 80 looks good to this point. It is 4 45 am. The forecast has a lot of fog for the morning and the eclipse, unfortunately. Concord and livermore saying cloudy at this hour and still well before the eclipse and sometimes it will retreat by 8 00 far enough inland. By the time we get to 8 00 or 9 00 most locations will say cloudy to mostly cloudy. Brentwood will probably be good along with fairfield. Along the bay it will be tough. For sure the coast will deal with a lot of low clouds. We have a few pockets will where it will burn off. Around the bay for some, and by 10 15 am inland will be okay. We have smoke and haze in the air as well. It looks okay in oregon and idaho with clouds winning out. Here is the projection and give the clout forecast a lot of credit and it was spot on talking about maybe up and idaho but that will also clear out by 9 00. This low is mild with 60s and water temperatures have come up holding the temperatures up as well. We usually have a few areas where it will clear and we will watch things and maybe parts of the sonomamarin coast but otherwise you are in a lot of low cloud trouble. It has made it out to concord and livermore, low clouds for most. But 9 00 or 10 00 some of it will burn off and inland keep going. Even the Higher Elevations may be obscured by that low cloud deck with higher clouds coming in off of the sierra. A decent delta breeze with 60s on the temperatures and very mild.
