I know it is active, so what do you know . Reporter again, here we are with what apparently is another arson. Firefighters just cleared the scene here but you can see the Toyota Highlander burned out. Firefighters had to cut the hood off to try to get access so they could get water and foam inside to stop this particular fire. This one was called in at 2 17 am. Another fire was set on the lafayette walnut creek border about 2 miles away. These are the sixth and seventh suspicious fires. Specials officials have responded to that many and they have not given an account of how many are connected. They say it is more than 10, dating to january. Yesterday fire officials responded to a a pair of fires yesterday about 50 minutes apart. This was in the brentwood area and all these fires have been in the east bay. So far, the fires have been limited to vehicles. There havent been any reports of any injuries. Officials are warning residents to be careful at this time. We just spoke with a fire official from contra costa county. [ background noise ] they say they certainly are suspicious in nature, they are confined at this point to automobiles. They say again, at this point, there has been no injuries but they stress that there is certainly the very likelihood that somebody could be injured in one of these incidents. One of the fires yesterday spread to a home. It spread near to a childs bedroom. So certainly the potential here for someone to have serious injuries if not killed. Fire officials are warning people to be vigilant and theyre also looking for anybody who may have video of one of these fires are from the scene or from nearby one of these fires to turn that over to law enforcement. Maybe they can see who may be behind this string of suspicious fires. Christian, i know it is dark, so its hard for you to show us, but you mentioned close to a home. What is the situation like where you are there . Are there a lot of cars on the street . Are there homes nearby . Reporter yes, this is a residential street. You can see this one, this is not in a garage it is on the street. There couple of nearby vehicles. There are homes nearby and the nearest one seems to be about 4050 feet away. There is, vegetation, trees behind us. Theres potential certainly for the fire to have spread from the vehicle to that tree. From the tree you can go anywhere. That is certainly the danger with these fires. They are unpredictable, you cant know exactly where they are going to go and how much damage they would do. Or who might be in danger because of that. Certainly fire officials are doing what they can to track down the individual behind this. Very scary. Thank you christian. Time 4 35 am. Antioch police are searching for a man who robbed a Wells Fargo Bank inside of a safeway supermarket. It happened wednesday afternoon inside the safeway on deer valley road. Police say the man was wearing a mask and all dark clothing when he walked up to the teller, demanded money. He escaped in a tan colored suv that had teper license plates. It was waiting outside. If you see that car or if you have any information, please call antioch police. Palo alto police are looking for the publics help to identify im in who exposed himself on a hiking trail. Authorities released the sketch of the suspect. Take a look. They say he exposed himself to a woman and her young child on a trail at the palo alto bay land. She said she heard someone clear their throat as she passed by some bushes. Then she saw a man. He is described as in his mid 20s, with dirty blonde hair. It was pulled back in a ponytail. He also has tattoos on his arms and legs. Time is 4 36 am. We have to information about races and antisomatic incidents targeting students in the Piedmont School district. A group of students has been suspended. Earlier this week we told you about incidents that included using the n word anti nazi salutes of the school hallways. Some students at piedmont and Millennium High School say they were also pushed and shoved. The Piedmont Police department is conducting a full investigation. We in the process of reaching out and interviewing students. We have also been briefed on the interviews that the School District has conducted. And we have been made privy to the content. We will be using those as a basis to move ahead. On monday, School Administrators held an assembly to talk about how hurtful hate speech can be. The School District also issued a statement saying piedmont unified School District has no tolerance for bigotry. San Francisco Police arrested a ucsf psychiatrist and his boyfriend on charges of possessing child pornography. Police say Benjamin Martin and doctor Billy Lockhart were arrested at their home on buena Vista Terrace on tuesday. Investigators say they discovered hundreds of videos and images of child pornography in their possession. Lockhart was even using the Wi Fi Network at ucsf to upload some of the images online. In a statement ucsf said it has placed doctor lockhart on investigative investigatory leave from the department of psychiatrys training program. He is suspended from all clinical activity and access to all ucsf information systems. A former la county sheriffs due to be sentenced today on federal corruption charges. Back in march, 74yearold lee buck up was convicted of obstruction of justice and to other federal charges. Prosecutor say buck up try to block an fbi investigation into guards abusing inmates in his jails in 2011. And then he lied about it. Buck is lawyer is asking a judge to sentence him to probation citing his age and also sang buck up suffers from alzheimers. Prosecutors will ask ram to serve two years. The judge may ignore both requests. They could sentence him to up to 20 years in prison. A building at the university of San Francisco is no longer named after a former San Francisco mayor. San francisco is suing uber to force the company to turn over information about its drivers. In a tweet, City AttorneyDennis Herrera said no one is above the law. They had to follow the same business rules as any other sf company. Because uber considers its drivers to be contractors, and not employees, the city requires the drivers to register as businesses and publicly post their names and business addresses. But the cities that uber has not provided that on his driver since last december. Official site uber refused to comply with a subpoena issued in january after the lawsuit.
