Ive driven on highway 17 when its raining. In the summer its tough. A little yeah. Raining is brutal. It is. Yes. For those that make that commute. And dark and rainy. Youre telling us something we dont know. If we make that commute. We have isolated now the widespread rain is kind of moved off east and south. Right there its visiting watsonville right now. Thunderstorm activity went through santa cruz and looks like capitola is one line now pushing off the morgan hill and san martin and gilroy. Still pretty good rain around fremont and palo alto and also near hayward and then a really good line right around lafayette and i went through one of these and i tell you it was coming down on the orinda side very intense here. Back over to concord and looks like out the Discovery Bay and also the altamont pass, not as bad in the north bay right now but just wait five minutes. The low looks like its going right just almost parallel to the coast. Almost making a beeline towards Santa Cruz Mountains and monterey. So maybe a little more activity that direction. Then say north and east. 40s and 50s. Its cooler and the low will be with us today but then well be on the drier side by tonight. So morning rain, thunderstorm activity, certainly could pop up at any time and some patchy fog below normal temps now with 50s upper 50s and low 60s. 4 32. The man who would know, maybe highway 17 on the screens, showing you anything sal . Were looking at and were going to look at the maps here but were looking at slow traffic already steve because of the wet weather. Which is unusual for this early time. Were going to start off though and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. And you can see traffic is moving along okay. As you drive through this area. There have been no major problems. Also in the east bay, we have a nice looking commute on interstate 880. So far. Now we are looking at highway 17 as steve mentioned. And we dont see anything major, although we do see that the rain is moving through. Unfortunately, that usually means accidents and were going to keep an eye on the south bay and all the bay area. Actually with the wind to and remembers reporter im ready. Protect the hair. Protect the hair. Reporter oh. Number one priority. As we well know. Yeah. Reporter dont worry. Im surprised we didnt have more Power Outages. Reporter no chances, whats that . Im surprised we didnt have more Power Outages though actually with the amount of wind that we had. Reporter well, yeah i was going to say i mean i know that system on saturday night certainly brought really strong winds and i dont know its not super windy out here, the one thing i will say that im struck by standing out here this morning with this particular band of or this round of rain is how cold it is. How cold the system is. Its really really chilly out here. Surprisingly cold. Right. Steve agrees with you by the way. Thank you alex, check back in with you in just a bit. Reporter not just me . Thats right, reading the caltrans website, and eastbound traffic change required on all vehicles except for four wheel drives with snow tires and all four wheels from colfax to truckee. That is not something they generally do, eastbound trucks are being screened at applegate, and the permit loads are prohibited. That is basically closing the road to most of the vehicles. Dont go, that is my advice. We almost never see that. Sometimes they say change required or to carry the change, but this is more of a situation where you should not be up there unless you really have to go.
