We have a couple major things, with westbound 580, a big rig accident thats blocking a couple lanes. A couple big rigs got involved, just about to go to a live report from the scene in just a moment. Right off the top, traffic coming in is way slower than normal because of this incident. Well come back to it in a moment. Also want to mention San Francisco, there is an oil slick because of a big rig crash right at the beginning of the bridge. You can see the Fire Department has arrived now. The truck itself has been removed but the Fire Department came back around again and they are trying to clear this oil slick from that ramp and also from the bridge in San Francisco. Traffic is so light right now that its not really an issue. Hopefully they will get it out of the way before the commute really gets underway. This is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. Traffic is okay westbound as you coming to San Francisco. Its been a wet morning in the east bay already. Well show you life what were talking about. We are at north flynn wrote at the on ramp, and you can see behind us, big rigs, cars, virtually at a standstill. Nobody going anywhere fast because of a big rig accident just up the road, on westbound 580. All the cars you see here are headed west on 580. Just up the road, just east of the north greenville road exit, that is where theres an overturned tractortrailer fully loaded, according to the chp. This accident happened just before 2 00 this morning. A couple other cars also were involved with that big rig. And a an alert was issued. There were some minor injuries involved in this accident. Were trying to find out and get more information from the chp to figure out whether anybody was hurt seriously. This morning, the result, rain slick, roads, a big rig crash, traffic just backed up for miles and miles coming west on 580 through the altamont pass. If this is your route this morning, be prepared for a very slow right. Oh, boy. Thats too bad. To start the morning that way. The time is 4 33. Other top stories, grief counselors will be on the campus of College Park High school in Pleasant Hill today after three students at the school were involved in the crash over the weekend and two of the passengers died. Chp says the driver told them she fell asleep at the wheel. Police at San Francisco state are looking for three women who robbed and beat another woman is a baseball bat. It happened near Mary Ward Hall at about 1 00 yesterday morning. Police say the victim was walking with a friend when the three suspects approached her. Anyone with information is asked to call police. Toll lanes are back open in the pieces after police were called to investigate the death of a pedestrian. The accident happened at 6 00 yesterday evening. 237 connector, the incident created a massive backup as you can see for people traveling south. The chp says a man in the road was hit by a car. The driver stopped at the scene. Highway reopened just before 11 00 last night. Oakland police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured two others. Police received a couple of gunshots fired at 7 30 saturday night just west of interstate 980. They found one person suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. Two others were sent to the hospital. No one was arrested and police are still trying to piece together what happened. Police say a fire at a home in danville was intentionally set. Firefighters arrived at the house on west linda mesa avenue just before 8 30 saturday night. It took them a halfhour to contain the fire. Witnesses told police they saw someone throw an object at the home and then get in a car and speedway. No one was inside the house at the time. There were no reports of injuries. More embarrassment for the Santa Clara County sheriffs department. Two deputies have been arrested after separate investigations. Ryan saunders was arrested on eight misdemeanor accounts, accused of gaining access to confidential records of someone he had a personal relationship with. And deputy mark navarrette is accused of Workers Compensation fraud. He was hurt while playing in an offduty softball game but claimed he was hurt while on the job. Both men are out on bail but will be in court later today. San Francisco Police say a woman who thought she was being kicked by a driver was just having difficulty communicating with a man who was hard of hearing. The San Francisco chronicle reports the woman told the driver to stop after he went the opposite direction from where she wanted to go. When the driver kept going, the woman jumped out of the car at a stoplight a runaway despite breaking her ankle. Police tell the newspaper they believe the man was taking her to the address she wanted, but was using a different route than she expected. A Southern California man is under arrest after this assault on an uber driver captured on a dash cam. This may be difficult to watch. The driver had to ask the passenger several times for directions. Eventually the driver pulled over and said the right was over and he was kicking out the passenger who said he was drunk. Thats when the passenger hit the driver in the head several times. The driver then pulled out mace and the passenger jumped out. The passenger now faces charges of assault and public intoxication. Tresses classes will go on as scheduled after a deadly shooting on campus. Police are searching for the gunman this morning. Shooting happened early yesterday morning at Winston Salem university. Police say one student was killed, another was wounded. The College Spokesperson identified the person who died as 19yearold anthony white, jr. The university which was celebrating homecoming was on lockdown for several hours after the shooting. Students say the violence leaves them feeling very uneasy. Something didnt feel right. When we were driving up the tempest, i seen people running, i heard the alarm and i got the text message alert. The other student is expected to survive even though classes will be held today. The university is providing Counseling Services and staff who need it. After being diagnosed with heart failure, former San Francisco mayor ardec knows is scheduled to undergo a bypass. He was shot twice in the chest in 1973 during a string of racially motivated killings dubbed the zebra murders. He served 11 years in the California State Assembly before becoming mayor. According to the contra costa times, Altamont Wind stopped running its 800 turbines as of yesterday. Environmental groups have complained for years that the windmills killed thousands of birds every year including protected species such as holden eagles, red tail hawks and burrowing owls. The Audubon Society tells the newspaper they were using older turbines that are more likely to kill birds. San francisco will become one of the first cities in california to implement a law. The San Francisco examiner reports that Mental Health program will start accepting patients this week. The paper also says its estimated fewer than 100 people in San Francisco will be eligible each year. The state law is named for 19 yearold Mental Health laura wilcox. She was shot to death by a mentally ill man who resisted efforts to get him into treatment. Lauras law allows family members and others to petition the department of Public Health to compel such treatment. Tomorrow, supervisors will consider a new way to help homeless. The board of supervisors will take the next step in a plan to build tiny homes for people with nowhere else to go. Supervisors have a list of six county owned pieces of land where homes ranging from 70 square feet to 200 square feet to be billed. The chain announced it is temporarily closing 43 restaurants because of a reported e. Coli outbreak. Nearly two dozen people have been sickened. Coli outbreak. The decision which affects 43 locations comes after Health Officials announced more than 20 people have been sickened by the bacteria. Reporter the exact source hasnt been determined but Officials Say they expect a number of cases to rise as more people learn about the outbreak and go to get checked out. I think we need more detail on whats going on because they have this little note saying everything is closed and will be open as soon as possible. We offer our deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by the situation. In the meantime Health Officials say the last case was reported a week ago.
