Im curious about the south bay commute. Weve had some lighter than usual commutes. Today is a little slow at the 880 interchange. 101 and 85 are not that bad. On this friday, we are getting a little bit of a friday light commute in some areas. Lets go to the next element. That would be the bay bridge toll plaza. You can see for yourself, its not quite what it is. If youre coming in on the 880 ramp, youre seeing no slow traffic for any of those drivers. That looks very good getting into San Francisco. Of course the golden gate will close tonight. It will be closed all weekend. It will reopen monday morning at 4 00 a. M. So its going to be closed starting at about 9 30, making those closures. Closed all day tomorrow. Closed all day sunday. Again, as i mentioned, opening on monday at 4 00 a. M. For the morning commute. I do want to mention that traffic on some of the other bridges might be a little bit busier. The san mateo bridge is moderate right now, heading over to the peninsula. Todays weather and the weekend forecast, heres steve. Hotwheels for me, sal. Hotwheels. Loved the hotwheels. Loved the hotwheels. We do have cloudy skies, a little change here. These systems are too weak. So cold, so much snow and cold and its just east of us, thats providing really kind of a boulder in the middle of the stream. Until that breaks down, our pattern doesnt get much except these weak little systems. Mostly cloudy, hazy skies. More clouds over the weekend, cooler. Could be a few sprinkles, not a big deal. Early next week looks breezy, possibility next week something might break through and give us rain. The forecast models have backed off on it. Last rain was december 24th. Weve gone a long time. Im going on the 18th, if it does happen. Usually these systems come in after a stretch of long weather, usually later than sooner, slowing down a bit. Well see. Well know at the end of next week. The breakdown, or the decrease in the projection amounts is not a positive sign. Lot of cloud cover over us. 40s and 50s on the temps here. Again, the lows, 20s and 30s for a while. They have come up due to cloud cover. Low 50s lafayette. Brentwood, 49. Antioch, close. Temperatures will be under the influence of this cloud cover. Were not expecting any precip, but theres a little lift provided by that Mountain Range called the sierra that might give a few isolated showers. Looks like it stays south of tahoe and truckee. But its close. Might get an isolated shower. Too warm for snow. 50s on the water temps, but the monterey bouie is 59. Warm, warm. Look at that spin in the atmosphere. Thats why i like to show the water vapor. There it goes. If it came over us, we have a possibility of maybe a few more light showers. But as it heads down to Southern California, it impacts them more than us. Cold. Its a little better than yesterday, but still really cold for many, all the way down to the deep south. Lake effect systems are starting to move, clipper systems, could be around 1 to 2 feet of snow over the next couple of days around the great lakes, especially around buffalo, areas like that. 40s for some, 50s for others. 42 up at blue canyon. Cloudy, mostly cloudy today. System today, and another one on saturday coming together. Look for a lot of cloud cover to move in. Hazy skies, patchy fog, light shower or two, but i doubt it. Hazy sprinkles in the offing, very light. 60s each day and these temps are coming down. Upper 50s, mainly low 60s, especially heading into the weekend. There it is. Then well have breezy, cooler conditions early next week. All right, steve. Thank you. It is 7 52. This morning, the u. S. Labor department announced the National Unemployment rate fell to 5. 6 last month. Thats a drop of 0. 2 . Some of that decline is because more americans dropped out of the u. S. Labor force. The u. My daughter has made a decision that she does not want chemicals, poison, put into her body. Does that mean that she wants to die . Absolutely not. Well, the Supreme Court ruled the girl is not mature enough to make that kind of decision. She will be allowed to make her own decision when she becomes 18, in september. By that time, her chemo treatments are expected to be over. Dilemma. 7 56. Were following developing news out of france, where there are two hostage situations taking place. If you are stepping out, anything to worry about . Only patchy fog. Really its just mostly cloudy. Well continue that theme right into noon and even this afternoon. 40s and 50s on temps, all really close. Higher elevations, temps coming down. They were in the upper 60s a couple days ago. Has brought in a lot of cloud cover. Mostly cloudy, maybe a patch or two of fog. Hazy skies. Tell you, without any breeze, things are murky. 50s and 60s. Sal, updates . I think we have something in the south bay. Things are a little better there, steve. We do have slow traffic here and there, but the commute in general is getting much better. Now, going to the bay bridge toll plaza, very light, good to see that. I think this weekend, the bay bridge is going to see a lot more traffic as people who have to come into the city from marin will use the Richmond Bridge to the bay bridge. There wont be a lot of traffic coming on the o41÷n . n . Her way, maybe eastbound. But i think that people who are going to ywn . n . The napa valley, someone told me, reminded me, yeah, ive got to go to the napa valley. Youll have to use the bay bridge to get over to 80 and southbound. Its okay, northbound a little slow as you pass high street. There are no major problems there. In the south bay, northbound 280 through downtown, that looks very good here, getting up to highway 17. Havent had any real problems n . n on 280 into the west valley today. Now, as pon . n . Far as the Golden Gate Bridge, some things have been changing. One of the things that will change is that merge as you head on southbound 101. I have a map to show you, an animation really. Really not an animation. Pardon me. Its a graphic. Thats what we call it. This area here on the side is going to be the new merge point. It used to be, as you know if you drive the Golden Gate Bridge every day, people would merge here. But now its going to be on the right side. Just a slight change, but youll have to get used to it on monday morning if this is your commute. Here it is, animated for you. You can see southbound 101 is going to look a qmn . n . Little bit different with that new movable barrier, xn . n . nas you head south into tnn . n . San francisco. We have more information on this weekends bridge bun . n . Closure on our website, ktvu. Com. Click on web links 7bn . n . nfor details on alternate routes and expanded n . Bus service. Its 8 32. Lets go back to the desk. Thank you, sal. There is a lot of developing news right now concerning both hostage standoffs in france and events are unfolding at a feverish pace. Sal, youre watching the Golden Gate Bridge and Everything Else . Thats right. The Golden Gate Bridge will be closed this weekend. You probably already know that. Closures will start at 9 30, be in full effect by midnight and closed all weekend until monday morning at 4 00 a. M. Looking at the bay bridge, its going to take a lot of the traffic right now. Good morning, everybody. We have cloudy, mostly cloudy skies, a little cooldown after wednesday, people saying wheres the rain . Well, this system wont do it. Theres a teeny bit in Southern California. Probably not what well see over the weekend, but it will give us cloud cover, mostly cloudy skies, patchy fog coming back. By the way, for what its worth, about 10, 12 days out, there are signs of a rip roaring jet stream coming across the pacific. Well see. That would bring rain here, if it can make it. Maybe in seven, 10 days, give us something to talk about. Today, we have clouds and a lot of mostly cloudy. 40s and 50s on the temps. They have come up from a couple degrees, from about wednesday when they were among the 30s. Now they are in the 40s and 50s. A few isolated showers up in the sierra nevada. Also, because this low is diving toward Southern California, they may have more light rain than us. Thats our saturday and probably most of sunday as well, which means a lot of cloud cover. We do have patchy fog, hazy skies out there. Not the best visibility. 50s, 60s now on the temps. Next couple days, they will be coming down. We topped out on wednesday and well start off early next week with some sunshine, breezy conditions, and lets hope that rain returns. There are some signs that it will, but not for another week. I was talking to mark too myo at noon. He said the more we hope for it, it tends to disappear. Or gets pushed back. It will get here. Just a question of when. I know youre working on it.
