Right now chains are not required on highway 50 or interstate 80. But if you are headed up there you are always advised to bring along those chains. Well, what are the holidays without some holiday music . We have been hearing about it all morning long. The San Francisco boys chore inches of snow are internationally acclaimed. They have performed all around the world. They are between the ages of 10 and 13. And photojournalist tony hod rick and deena lynch gave us a listen. [singing]. I love it. It is like my life. Its my main priority. When i heard about this choir, i just knew that it was right for me. I joined the chorus because i dont really show any interest in sports. This was good for the opportunity. I really like it. I want to, like, sing because it opens this joy in my heart that i have that i just want to like let go of. I just really love the sound. It makes me feel like i am floating in the clouds. Whats great about the chorus is the boys are all here because they want to be here. Let me tell you, the boys, i love working with the boys. Their sound is glorious. How many sopranos are doing the top part . Thats too many now. I get to see the development that happens in them, and they go from being little boys to really young gentlemen. I sing everywhere. I sing at school. I sing at hole. I sing while during my homework. I sing in the shower. Well, i sing like at home and in the car random notes. It, like, it really drives my parents crazy. [singing] and i had a little book that runs down. I really like it. The boys soprano sound is unlike any other sound. There is a sweet spot in the boys voice that just lasts for just a short amount of time. Its purity. Its innocence. Its the beauty. Songs can have different moods to them. Some songs can make me really happy. Some songs can make me really sad. And i actually really like the feeling of sad songs because they can really open up your heart in a certain way because they make you feel for the song. Its just a really beautiful sensation. This puts this their minds that there is another dimension to life. Its not just all tv and homework and eating and sleeping. They can express their spirit through music. Their energy can be used through music. When everyone is singing the right notes and we are in harmony, it transports me into a different place. This is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years. The music of the ages, its like nothing else. The boys chorus shapes them. Just the mere fact of standing in front of an audience that they can have the confidence to perform in the best way possible. It brings camaraderie. It brings friendship. It means working with other people. They develop leadership qualities. And the things that they learn throughout the chorus helps them in their future life. Their voices blossom and blossom and it is this glorious hinge that is something that i think they will keep with them. I love the chorus. Nothing is the same as singing. I am not sure when i grow up i will still want to do that. I am sure i will sing all my life. Yeah, it makes me happy. They are making a lot of other people happy. Yes, they are. Its so much more than music. This story part of our 30 minute special dedicated to the sights and sounds of the season. Holiday in focus airs today at noon and also at 5 30 and 10 30 tonight on ktvu. It looks like a threelevel or multilevel victorian home where this fire happened. Right now there is still smoke coming out of the roof. A short time ago we could see flames coming were the top window and on the house next door you can see several firefighters perched from the roof of the house next door taking a defensive position. We are waiting to get more information from the fire chief. She told us right before our live shot she is going to be right back to give us an update. Here is what we have been able to find out in talking to some of the neighbors. This is a threelevel victorian. According to the next door neighbor she says the home thats on fire is owned by a man in his 60s and that he lives on the top floor. The top unit of this victorian. She says there is a family of four in the unit below and thats according to the next door neighbor. She is not sure if anyone was home when this all happened. On the ground floor there is a lot of firefighters in our way, but there are some firefighters going in and out of this house. According to a couple other neighbors we talked to this morning they heard some sort of explosion or big popping noise around 6 00 and then according to one neighbor she looked out the window and she could just see flames shooting through the roof. This is a house were talking about. You can see smoke billowing out of the top floor window of the victorian home. A victorian home actually caught fire this Christmas Morning. Now there is a frantic search for anyone who may be sleeping there when the blaze broke out. Ktvus allie rasmus with an update. Allie, what can you tell us . Reporter well, brian, i will start off with the good news. We found out that the family that lived here, a family of four, two adults and two young daughters, they were out of town for the Christmas Holidays. This he werent here when this fire started. We found out that the owner of the building who according to some neighbors lives on the top floor, he was also not here. As far as we know everyone in this house where this fire started is accounted for and safe. This started around 6 00 this morning. Some neighbors told us they heard a popping noise or explosion type noise followed by huge flames coming out of the roof of this victorian house. Right now according to the fire chief this fire is contained. In the last five minutes or so the smoke has really died down. We have some firefighters kind of going into the first floor of this building. This home, victorian home, the address is 245 mississippi. So mississippi and 22nd in the potrero hill neighborhood. Most of the morning firefighters, you can see them on the roof of the home members door. They were trying to make sure this fire didnt spread. The good news is it didnt spread to the house where they are sitting on the roof. The house on the other side sustained a lot of damage. The homeowners or tenants in there, the people who live there did get out safely. So did their cats. We saw firefighters with two kitties that they rescued from this home next door to where the fire started. Its kind of hard to see. Its kind of underneath that tree you cement. The red cross is helping that family and the people who live there find a place to stay. But when we talked to Joanne Hayes White, the fire chief out here, at worst she says this was a threealarm fire. The wind conditions made the fire difficult to fight because it was very hard to contain the flames to some of the houses, at least that one house next door. Although you see the house where the firefighters are sitting, that house again is okay. Everyone who lived there got out safely. Again just to repeat, in our last hit we told you about the family that lives in the victorian residence, we confirmed that they are out of town. They were not here when the fire started. So everyone is safe. Back to you. Allie rasmus reporting live from San Francisco this morning. Luckily the people were not there this morning. That is definitely good news.
