A lot of 40s and low 50s around the bay area at this time. For the afternoon today upper 60s with mostly sunny skies in pacifica and mid70s around the bay, 75 hayward and 76 for you san jose, temperatures are slightly warmer. Mid to upper 70s, 80 degrees in the forecast for areas like livermore, mid70s in napa and into the south bay and morgan hill. A warmup for today a little change for tomorrow. Well cool back down and i do see the possibility of rain in the extended forecast. Ill show you that coming up. This morning authorities in contra costa are searching for the shooters for two homicides in richmond. It happened on fifth and richmond avenue. A person at the scene told us he went to the school with the victim who he says was still a teenager. I went to school with him in middle school and high school, and its sad, you know. He hangs around here, but he didnt cause trouble. Its sad. Investigators have not made any comments about the case. They blocked off the area for several hours last night. Crime scene technicians to be scene putting evidence blockers on the ground. Police were called to a difficult by shooting at pennsylvania avenue and 6th street. A man killed a male driver and injuring the female passenger. The car stopped after colliding into a parked vehicle. They have information about the shooter, but theyre not releasing it yet. They do not know if the two shootings are related. Friends and family of a missing Software Engineer in San Francisco will be continuing their search efforts today. 26yearold dan hall was last seen leaving their apartment. The roommates say when he didnt come home that night, they didnt think much of it. Theyre hoping that he is somewhere safe. A lot of people from his work said he was a little quieter that week, and so thats what were hoping. Were hoping he got a breath of fresh air, went on vacation and hopefully well see him back soon. He suffered from migraines and suffered with dizzy spells. Anyone with information about his whereabouts, hes 6foot 1 and ways 210 pounds and was last seen wearing a red hooded sweat shirt. Crews are paving the way for januarys installation for a movable Center Median. It be the biggest change on the bridge since it opened in 1937. Theyll shift a concrete and steel wall from one lane to another. The inconvenience drivers are going to face over this weekend is nothing compared to the devastation of a headon collision. Work is being done, one lane will be closed on the marin side in both directions until tomorrow when the Center Median is installed, the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed two vehicles for two days. That will happen on january 10 and 11. The walkways on the bridge will be open for pedestrians and bicyclists. Those on Public Transit, a major event is scheduled involving the transit department. Congresswoman barbara lee and the san leandro mayor, theyre expected to announce more funding across the east bay. That happens outside of the Convention Center in oakland. A coalition of bike Safety Advocates held a rally in San Francisco to remember those killed on city streets. They placed empty shoes to represent the number of lives lost this year. The coalition is asking city leaders to speed up the pace of Street Safety improvements. Part of those improvements will be paid for by proposition a and b which voters passed this week. Gas services are expected to be resolved this morning. They repaired a fourinch gap in a pipe that ruptured yesterday afternoon. They are digging at the market and santa clara streets mistakenly hit that line. Pg e had to shut off the gas. They had to force shops to close and reduce hours. A lot of restaurants depend on the weekend and the sharks team so this gas leak is affecting everybody. Pg e is still looking into whether the construction crews followed proper procedures. Theyre seeking legal action to recoup their losses. An outbreak made people sick at this hotel last night. The virus is to blame. It happened at a convention. The nuro virus is highly contagious. You can just get it by touching contaminated services. A sleep in is being staged today against bart. They say they harass homeless and their civil rights. A violent night in the richmond area when two people were killed in a series of shootings less than a mile and a half away. One was at fifth street and market avenue. The areas area was blocked off for several hours. The victim was a teenage boy. His identity has not been released. Then after 10 00 Richmond Police responded to an emergency call at pennsylvania avenue and sixth street. Investigators say someone in a vehicle fired into a car killing the male driver and injuring a female passenger. She was grazed by a bullet and transported to a hospital. Police tell us they have some information about the gunman, but not have released not yet released it. They do not know if the two shootings are related. Investigators in mexico believe they have found the burned reason mains of 43 college students. They disappeared in september. The father of one of those students lives in the bay area. He says his 19yearold son is among the missing and in a News Conference yesterday mexicos attorney general said three men have confessed to killing the students and throwing some of their remains into a river. [ speaking spanish ] the experts are saying some of the damage, it is difficult to identify the dna. Mexicos attorney general say police kidnapped the students after getting orders from the mayor and then they were handed over to a gang. The mayor and his wife have been arrested and are accused of having close ties to the gang. And 57yearold man has been arrested and charged with killing a Southern California man. This man was arrested for killing all four members of this family. Last november the bodies were found in shallow graves in the california desert. Less than a year ago i made a promise to the family that our department would do everything in our power to solve this case. We cant bring them back, but i hope this provides some level of closure. A motive of the murder has not been released. A womans dog returns home. That little dogs name is kaley and Lucille Coleman said her dog was stolen and she was found in a dumpster. They found she was microchipped and that led to the eunion. I was happy that my child was coming home. My baby was coming home. The pair reunited yesterday. Kaley needs to heal from head injuries and broken ribs, but theyll be okay. The city said it will pay for the thousands of dollars of medical bills. This morning we know that a major congressional race is over. Mike honda is headed back to washington for an eighth turn. Challenger democrat row cane conceded last night. I think things look statistically unlikely, you concede and begin the healing process. I meet people who voted for me and voted for mike honda and i want people to come together. Santa clara and alameda counties say hell spend time with his family before he decides what to do next. Even as she tells it all, tracy still smiles and laughs. Im being inspired by how much tracy has risen to this, she hasnt lost her faith. The community has come together with fundraisers and well wishes across the country. She has a go fund me site and her blog. Its amazing and im just so grateful. I really am. Grateful, even though her dreams have been put on hold, even as she waits for chemotherapy to do its work. You cant go into that hole because youll go screaming into nowhere and youll never come back from that. She works to the looks to the future. I cant believe this is it, that this is the plan for my life. It occurs in the life that brings so much joy. People like me, people love her. Im kind because i want to be, i want to be a kind person. Shes kind because she cant be any other way. And in tracy it seems while tracy has invaded her body, it cannot touch the light inside, a light that refuses to dim even in the face of darkness. Another students died, 15 yearold Andrew Fryberg was shot in the cafeteria of marysville high school, Jaylen Fryberg was the shooter and he opened fire in the cafeteria and turned the gun on himself and that school reopened on monday. Four islamist terrorists are arrested and they had a plot to kill the queen. They arrested four men from 18 to 27 in a series of raids. Law enforcement officials have not confirmed if those men are involved in that assassination plot. Coroner Officials SayRobin Williams did not have Illegal Drugs or alcohol in his system when he died. They released it as part of the final autopsy report. He committed suicide in his home on october 11th. Williams wife said he had been struggling with depression and anxiety and the early stages of parkinsons. Pain caused by depression is crippling but there is hope. Someone who has gotten through this pain is a person who can save another person. And that is very invaluable. Theyre searching for the shooters involved in two homicides in richmond. The first one happened at 9 30 last night and market avenue in North Richmond. This is the second level of the stadium. You can see all the runners are taking part. Theyre having to run up the stairs. Some people are throwing down, you can see theyre walking this. Its an intense event or as relaxed you want to make it. We see a lot of people running with their kids, some people are running in costume. Its a relaxed atmosphere. Part of the course is behind us. People are running along the 300 concourse level, they have to go to the end and back down the stairs and then they get to the ground level and run inside and they come out the players tunnel, you can see right below us for the final stretch of the 5k run. They make it through the finish line on the field. You can see a big group of people gathering. Most of the people who started this race are about to finish it. As they come to the finish line, they can see themselves crashing that finish line. You can see a couple of kids running in this race. This race got started at 8 00 this morning and this is what it looked like had 200 people were lined up at the starting line. The run as you mentioned takes people around the stadium and it ends on the field and a lot of the people we talked to who were part of this race, theyre 49ers fans but they are also fans of this stadium and the big part of the reason why they participated, they wanted to get a chance to see the stadium. It sits on Housing Authority land, but its run by the district. They decided to shut down the park until they continue negotiating who is responsible if someone gets hurt. They expect it to be resolved for the next week or so, but until then it will be closed. A dog is back at home with his owner in San Francisco after being found in a dumpster. The dogs name is kaley, her owner Lucille Coleman, was looking for her back in august. The dog was stolen from her car while she was at a gas station. Officials discovered that the dog was microchipped and that led back to the owner. I was really happy that my child, my baby was coming home. The pair were reunited and kaley needs to get over some head injuries and broken ribs. The city is going to pay for thousands of dollars in medical bills. They believe theyve found the burned remains of 43 missing college students. The father of one of the students lives right here in the bay area. Israel of san jose said his 19 yearold son is among the missing. Mexicos attorney general said three men have confessed to killing the students and throwing some of their remains into a river. The Forensic Experts say that they were heavily burned and the damage has made it difficult to identify the dna. Mexico ease attorney general said police kidnapped the students after getting orders from the mayor and then they were handed over to a gang. Enthusiastic little boy just crossing the finish line. They are just wrapping up the 5k run. It started around 8 00 this morning. You can see some people behind us getting their medals for finishing the event. The 5k run, and some people walked, took people around levis stadium, around the stadium, and inside the stadium actually. Then they ran out of the player tunnel across that finish line. Lot of people, you can tell by the red and gold, they are 49ers fans, but also fans of the stadium. Lot of the people we talked to said thats a big draw for being part of this race. What was the highlight of this race for you . Oh, just coming out here on a Beautiful Day and checking out the new stadium. Nice way to tour the stadium. Reporter what was the hardest part . Going up some of the stairs . I think the stairs. Actually going down is tougher to imagine, at the end of the race, your legs are wiped out. Reporter and how long have you been a niners fan and how long have you been waiting to see the stadium . I was born in San Francisco, but we lived down here and thats what make it kind of exciting, because its close to home for us. We were able to come out here early in the morning and enjoy the race with my kids. Reporter how does it feel to finish up on the field, the actual field . Thats what people will get to experience. Thats coming up at 9 30. Well talk to someone who is about to go through it and tell us what its all about, coming up in about 30 minutes. [ cheers applause ] one of the runs opened yesterday, making it the first ski resort in california to open for the season. 20 snowmaking machines, plus the storm we got last weekend, made it possible to open up the slopes today. We are really impressed with the conditions. You know, we were talking about how boreal has kind of stepped it up. But not all the ski resorts are as lucky as boreal. Donor ski ranch relies on Mother Nature and right now they are completely dry. Other resorts say they arent really in a rush and will wait to make sure the conditions are right and that the rocks are completely covered. Excite is brewing in lake tahoe, as more Tourist Attractions are making their way in. Right now, construction continues at the Hard Rock Hotel and casino in southshore. The 60 million project is expected to be complete sometime in january. And then next year, it should get a little easier for International Travelers to get there. Thats when a british Charter Airline will be offering direct flights from london to reno. Massive gamechanger, because instead of people having to switch flights, switch their gear, switch their luggage, sit in airports, do layovers, they are just getting on an airplane in england and getting off in reno and then they can get on a shuttle and they are here. Business owners and people who live in the area say they are excited to see more tourists giving that boost to the local economy. We do have new information for you about an outbreak that made several people sick at a hotel in Redwood Shores last month. The San Mateo CountyHealth Department now says the norovirus is to blame. It happened at the hotel during a convention. The norovirus is highly contagious and can be spread through food, water or by touching contaminated surfaces. We have an update now on the gas leak that affected dozens of businesses in downtown san jose. Pg e says gas service should be fully restored now. Workers worked overnight repairing a 4inch gas pipe that ruptured overnight. Crews digging mistakenly hit the line, sending flammable gas into the air for six hours. 2500 people working in that area had to be evacuated. Pg e also had to shut off the gas to about 50 businesses, which forced restaurants and shops to close or reduce hours. Lot of restaurants in the area, depending on the sharks games, depending on the weekends, you know, in order to be able to pay their bills and stay open. So this gas leak is affecting everybody. Pg e are still looking into whether or not that construction crew that was involved followed proper procedures. Local businesses say they are considering legal action to try to recoup some of their losses. This morning, pg e is going doortodoor to help relight the pilot lights in those businesses. A coalition of pedestrian and bike Safety Advocates held a rally in San Francisco to remember those killed on city streets. They placed shoes on the steps of city hall yesterday to represent the number of lives lost just this year. The coalition is asking city leaders to speed up the pace of Street Safety improvements. Part of those improvements will be paid for by funds from proposition a and b, which voters passed this week. Happening today, residents of the east bay who depend on Public Transit will receive some welcome news. A major event is scheduled involving the u. S. Transportation department, ac transit and local elected leaders, including congresswoman barbara lee, oakland mayor jean quan and stephen cassidy. The federal government is expected to announce more funding to significantly improve Transit Service across the east bay. This event starts at 11 00 this morning, just outside the Henry J KaiserConvention Center in oakland. Homeless advocates in San Francisco are going to stage a sleepin today against bart. They accuse bart Police Officers of harassing the homeless, violating their civil rights by blocking their movements at bart stations. But the Transit Agency says its not targeting the homeless. Its enforcing a california safety code, which prohibits people from sprawling on floors, in order to allow others to evacuate quickly during an emergency. The sleepin is going to start in less than an hour, at 10 00 this morning at the powell street station. Well, getting to the Oakland Airport should be a little easier this holiday season. Bart has announced its long awaited connector between the col see coliseum. It will be up and running just in time for thanksgiving. Riders will be able to start boarding on november 22nd. It will cost 8 round trip. Riders can use a bart ticket. Construction just north of the Golden Gate Bridge this weekend is paving the way for a huge safety improvement. Crews are preparing for januarys installation of a movable Center Median. It will be the biggest change on the bridge since it opened back in 1937. The 30 million system will shift a concrete and steel wall from one lane to another. The inconvenience drivers will face over this weekend is nothing compared to the devastation of a headon collision. And ultimately thats what we are trying to virtually eliminate on the Golden Gate Bridge, is any headon collision. Pavement and drainage work is being done where the wall doe grade meets the Golden Gate Bridge. At least one lane will be closed on the marin side in both directions until tomorrow. Now, when the Center Median is installed, the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed to vehicles for two days. Thats scheduled to happen on january 10th and 11th. The walkways on the bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists. The president says the extra 1500 troops will help train kurdish and iraqi forces to fight the terror group isis. He is expected to present his 5. 6 billion plan to Congress Next week. If approved, the number of american troops in iraq would nearly double. The pentagon says the new troops would not be in a combat role and would operate from bases outside baghdad and irbil. According to the new york times, instead of fixing the problem, takata executives allegedly hit test results and ordered the faulty air bags shipped to Car Assembly Plants around the world. Victorias secret is reportedly changing its newest ad campaign because of growing controversy. The companys latest promotions included the phrase the perfect body, along with some of its models. But customers say it could create low self esteem for women who dont fit that standard and look like the models. The company says it is now changing the phrase to a body for everybody, after an online petition asking the company to rethink its message received more than 29,000 signatures. The 49ers are offering a chance for their fans to get or stay in shape. Allie rasmus is live at the stadium with the nfl fan challenge. Allie . Reporter we have been all over levis stadium. We started out covering the 5k, the starting line outside the stadium at the north entrance, then ended up on the finish line on the field at levis stadium. Now we are outside the stadium. Where im standing right now is the 49ers training facility. This is where participants in the 49ers fitness challenge will experience what a 49ers practice is really like. Chris giles with 49ers is going to give us a little tour. People who take part in this, and theres about 400 who signed up, they will be running about a mile before they even start the Obstacle Course. What do we have here . They will come right here into the performance facility. Weve got a set of box jumps here. They will jump off the box onto a high jump mat, after which they will come over to the sleds. We actually borrowed these sleds from the players while they are away in new orleans this weekend. They will push the sleds 15 yards, turn around and push it back, after which they will head out through the parking lot to a series of tire runs, then a tire flip, and then they are off to the stadium where weve got 42 flights of stairs, some of which they will be carrying sand bags up. Its going to be a good day. Reporter the whole goal of this you were telling me, is to give people a look at what kind of training the 49ers go through and they are using the same equipment that the players go through, right . Yeah, its the exact same equipment. Were setting these things up so we can do them while the team is on the road. Well actually be doing these 49ers rush events several times a year to give our fans the opportunity to come and to train where the players train. Reporter how much weight is on here . Thats a 200pound sled. Reporter so how are they supposed to do it . Just push it . Yeah, push it. Go for it. Ive been told you have to get your weight into it. Oh, my gosh im actually able to do this. Im surprised there you go reporter i had planned ahead of time and i set up the sled that didnt have any weights on it, but i guess my adrenaline is going at this point. Chris, how many people are taking part in this today . Weve got about 3000 people out for the 49ers rush event today. Cell phone video shows some of the first skaters testing the park out at last weekends grand opening. It appears details about how it will be run still immediate to be worked out. The park is on land owned by the marin Housing Authority, but the marin Services City district will run it. What the agencies say they need to figure out is who will be responsible for someone gets hurt. Right now, its closed because liability hasnt been worked out. San Francisco Police recently found her in a tenderloin dumpster. Officials discovered she was micro chipped, leading to the reunion. Authorities are searching for the shooters involved in two separate homicides in richmond. The first happened just last night at 5th street and market avenue in North Richmond. Sheriffs department will release more information today, but a person at the scene told us he went to school with the victim, who he says was still a teenager. I went to school with him, middle school and high school, and, yeah, its sad. He hangs around here, but he didnt cause trouble. Yeah. Sad. Investigators have not made any official comments about the case. They did block off that area for several hours last night. Crime scene technicians could also be seen placing more than a dozen evidence markers there on the ground. Now, just about 50 minutes later, Richmond Police were called to a driveby shooting at pennsylvania avenue and 6th street. Police say the gunman fired from a vehicle at another car, killing the male driver and injuring a female passenger. The victims car eventually stopped after colliding into a parked vehicle. Police tell us they have some information about the shooter, but have not yet released it. They do not know if these two shootings are related. California State University is taking a new step to combat Sexual Assaults on campus. Csu has hired its first person to oversee the systems Sexual Assault response. Pamela thomason is a former employee at ucla and will lead training initiatives for the 23 campuses. Earlier this year, csu revised its policy on Sexual Violence and expanded counseling and support services on campus. The dmv is encouraging undocumented immigrants who are planning to apply for a drivers license to prepare for their drivers test early. Kaiser permanentes 18,000 nurses are planning a twoday strike next week over ebola safety concerns. Kaiser is in contract negotiations with the California Nurses Association.
