Mark gonzalez talked to us by phone and says this current incident is under review by the Emergency Department of communications as well as the Fire Department. Were at 23rd and taraville, where yesterday firefighters responded to an incident in which an elderly man died after waiting for an ambulance for too long. It happened around 5 00 yesterday evening. The man suffered a heart attack as crews were evacuating the building because of a Carbon Monoxide leak. Dispatch records obtained show an ambulance was called at 5 37 a. M. And a private ambulance arrived at 5 55. Thats an 18minute wait. The maximum Response Time allowed is ten minutes for a lifethreatening call. Paramedics were unable to revive the man and an autopsy is pending. Poor ambulance Response Times have been a major issue for the chief. Ktvu has chronicled hull drepedz of wait times over the past several months that have taken a halfhour, an hour, even up to two hours. The chief said 16 new paramedics have helped the situation. Others say its the recent use of private Ambulance Companies that the city and county are not contracted through that have eased the problem slightly. Now, the Firefighters Union and all of the work groups have voted to out of her plasting her management style. She said she has no plans to go and mayor lee backs her and together they are trying to solve this problem regarding the ambulances, the shortages, the staffing together. The chp is looking for the big rig driver responsible for a deadly hitandrun crash on a busy street in fremont. Investigators say a 61yearold man on a motorcycle was killed on mission boulevard near warm springs boulevard yesterday afternoon. Witnesses say the driver of a silver big rig never stopped after colliding with the motorcycle. Mission boulevard is a major connector between interstates 880 and 680. The chp says an ongoing construction project until area may be a factor in this crash. This particular stretch of roadway is also under construction right now. Its lanes are not as wide as the normal lanes on other interstates. The chp is asking any witnesses to the deadly hit and run to contact them. The man attacked in the leave vie stadium bathroom may be paralyzed. That was revealed by prosecutors yesterday as the two men suspected in the beating appeared in a san jose courtroom. Brothers amador and Dario Rebollero are facing felony assault charges. Prosecutors say they punched a 32yearold man who had tapped one of them in the shoulder to tell them there was an open stall. Com is reporting the city is getting complaints of drug use and public sex in the area. Neighborhood groups claim 80 of the people who use the Communications Hill dont live in the area. The vice mayor asked the council to consider those complaints before approving plans for 2200 new homes and a retail center. There are also plans to add several more scare cases. Heres staircases. After a disaster like the napa earthquake in august, unlicensed contractors tend to come out of the woodwork. There have been a lot of unsuspecting homeowners who have been ripped off. Thats why state authorities crack down on workers trying to operate under the table. What you are looking at is hidden camera video from an undercover sting operation that was carried out this week by the contractors state license board working in conjunction with the napa County District attorneys office. Authorities invited unlicensed contractors to this particular house that has earthquake damage and they asked those workers for repair equipments. Ever since the 6. 0 earthquake in late august, a lot of people have fallen victim to contractors working under the table and homeowners who hire these crews risk losing their money and they are also liable if a worker is injured on their property according to state authorities. During this operation, a number of unlicensed contractors were taken into custody. Mr. Lieu, do you have a contractors license . No. Okay. I need to talk to you. This is a sting operation. Reporter those workers busted during this weeks sting could face a variety of charges including contracting without a license and the warning from state authorities for everyone out there, you need to if you have earthquake damage be cautious about who you have come in to do that repair work. Health officials in San Francisco they are on hey they are on alert for more cases of the enterovirus cases. They are testing for more cases after they confirmed the first case of the virus in San Francisco. A child was admitted to the hospital with enterovirus in september. That child is said to be in Good Condition now. Enterovirus virus cases have been reported in contra costa, santa cruz, solano and alameda counties. Now, the enterovirus virus usually causes symptoms like the cold or a flu but it can cause breathing problems, severe symptoms, especially in children with asthma. More than 600 people in 44 states and the District Of Columbia have been sickened by the virus since august. Five of the patients have died, including a 4yearold boy in new jersey. So far no deaths have been reported in california. Now to developing news from Placer County where firefighters are still battling several grass fires that are threatening homes. At least six blocks have burned since the fires broke out yesterday along 80 near the town of applegate. Eastbound interstate 80 was shut down for several hours between auburn and koufax. Some homeowners had minutes to get to safety. We ran around the house trying to pick up things that we knew we wanted or needed or were sentimental. Some clothing and a couple of pillows and threw them in the car and left. The fires are 20 contained now. About 420 acres have burned. Family and friends are mourning the loss of a calfire pilot from san jose who was killed while fighting a wildfire near yosemite. 62yearold Jeffrey Craig hunt was flying a calfire air tanker when he crashed outside of the town of el portal on tuesday. Hunt had been responding to the dog rock fire. Firefighters at his station say he will be missed. If you were kind of out, down, he would ask if there was anything he could to bring you back up. If you needed something he was there to help you out. Officials say hunt worked for a company that contracted with calfire for more than 13 years. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters. Firefighters honored hunt with a procession down highway 140 in the town of mariposa. Flags were at half staff as people lined the streets to honor him. Reporter good morning, Mark Gonzalez called us this morning and he tells us that this particular incident is under review, not only by the department but also by the department of emergency communications. Were here at 23rd and taraville, where firefighters responded to an incident yesterday in which a man, an elderly man, was he ended up dying after waiting for an ambulance for too long. It happened around 5 00 yesterday morning. We had a crew on scene. The man suffered a heart attack as crews were evacuating the Apartment Building because of a Carbon Monoxide leak. Dispatch records obtained by ktvu show an ambulance was called at 5 37 a. M. And a private ambulance arrived at 5 55 a. M. Thats an 18minute wait. The maximum Response Time allowed is ten minutes for a lifethreatening call. Paramedics were unable to revive the man. And an autopsy is pending. Poor ambulance Response Times have been a major issue for chief joanne hayeswhite. Ktvu has chronicled hundreds of wait times over the past several months that have taken a halfhour, an hour, even up to two hours. The chief has said that 16 new paramedics that hit the streets a few weeks ago have helped the situation but others say its the recent use of private Ambulance Companies, that the city and county are not contracted through that have eased the problem slightly. We not that the Firefighters Union and all of the Employee Work groups have voted to out of joanne hayeswhite. But the chief said she has no plans to go and that the mayor has backed her and together they are trying to solve the ambulance and staffing shortage. The chp says a continuing construction project in that area may be a factor in this crash. This particular stretch of roadway is under construction. Maybe saturday but then it will disappear the theres a bigger fog bank. Helped along by the system to the north. Inland areas are mostly clear. 50s on the temperatures. A few low 60s already. But kind of waiting on that delta breeze to crank up. So far its holding steady, anywhere from 12, 18. Oakland has a west breeze. Napa has a west breeze. They all had a component of easterly yesterday. Warm to hot inland but not as hot as the past week or so. So 80s for some. 60s, mid mid60s for some on the coast. Heres sal. We figured out the situation on b. A. R. T. I want to tell you that b. A. R. T. Had major delays because of a train that was stopped at west weekend. Someone saw another person with a gun. They saw the person. They traced the train to oakland. We have a picture. Police going through all of the trains, at least this train. This picture shows them going through the train at west oakland. They cleared all of the trains. Now the trains are moving. But b. A. R. T. Says to expect major delays. West oakland is the station that every train goes through. Thats why its one of the worse spots to have a backup and there is a huge one on the system. But the trains are moving again. Lets take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. We do have a big backup there. The traffic continues to be slow although its improving a little bit at least. Its about a 25 to 30minute delay getting into San Francisco. San jose in the silicon valley, every freeway is slow. A lot of slow traffic on 85. I would say 280 is the slowest all the way up to cupertino. But 101 is not far behind. 8 32. Back to the desk. Later this morning, we expect to find out more about a sting operation in napa county, one that targeted unlicensed contractors who may be preying on earthquake victims. Alex savidge is live in napa. You have video of this undercover operation. Reporter with so much damage still to homes and businesses in this area because of the napa earthquake back in august, unlicensed contractors have been quite busy in this area. Homeowners and people who own businesses have been warmed to check out the people they warned to check out the people they hire beforehand and this week state authorities stepped in. You are gonna charge me 10 grand . If its 10 grand between you and me, you dont have to get the workers workers comp for your employees. Reporter this is hidden video. It was carried out by the contractors state license board working in conjunction with the napa County District attorneys office. Authorities invited unlicensed contractors over to this house that has earthquake damage and they ask for repair estimates and then license information. After the 6. 0 earthquake here in late august, a lot of people fell victim to contractors who were working under the table. Homeowners risk losing money according to authorities and they are also liable if a worker is injured on their property. During this weeks operation, a number of unlicensed contractors were taken into custody. Mr. Lieu, do you have a contractors license . No. Okay. I need to talk to you. This is a sting operation. Reporter those workers could face a variety of charges, including contracting without a license. State Authorities Say this operation shows that homeowners with earthquake damage in this area need to be quite cautious about who they have do repair work on their homes. You can check out contractors beforehand at the state license boards website. Thats the best bet according to authorities. The board will be holding a News Conference later on this morning at 10 00 here in napa to offer more details on this weeks sting operation. They are mourning his death. 62yearold Jeffrey Craig hunt was flying a calfire air tanker when he crashed outside of the town of el portal on tuesday. He had been responding to the dog rock fire. Firefighters at the station say he will be missed. If you were kind of out, down, he would ask if there was anything he could do to bring you back up. If you needed something, he was there to help you out. Now, hunt worked for a company that contracted with calfire for more than 13 years. Hes leaving behind a wife and two daughters. Firefighters honored him with a procession. In mariposa, flags were at half staff. People removed their hats. Calfire has grounded the feet of air tankers because of that deadly crash. The ntsb is investigating the cause of the crash. 8 36. The San Francisco man who says an uber driver attacked him with a hammer is speaking out. Roberto chi cau says the uber driver disafreed on the best way to get to where he and friends were going. Thats when according to chi cass, the driver pulled out at claw hammer and hit him in the face. His skull was fractured. He may lose his eye. He has filed a legal claim against uber saying it is responsible for the actions of its drivers. I dont even know the right words to use. I mean using uber at the end of the night is supposed to be a the responsible safe thing to use when you are out with friends to take an uber home. They are not sure whether i will lose my eye or not. The driver has pleaded not guilty. Hes free on bail until a hearing next month. Uber says its cooperating with investigators and wishes the man a quick recovery. Jerry hill will formally ask 0 for the removal of embattled head of the california utilities commission. Michael peevey has been under fire for a gas line killed eight people and destroyed dozens of homes four years ago. Hill will introbe dues a legislation on december 1st to remove peevey. You know, this most recent incident is currently under review, not only by the department, the Fire Department, but also dispatch as well. We want to mention that at the Fire Commission meeting tonight thats supposed to be closed session but firefighters are gonna try to keep that open. Firefighters responded here at 23rd an taraville. They say they are they say this responded to this incident in which an elderly man ended up dying after waiting for an ambulance for too long. He suffered a heart attack as crews were evacuating the Apartment Building because of a Carbon Monoxide leak at 5 00 yesterday morning. And dispatch records obtained by ktvu show that an ambulance request was put in at 5 37 a. M. With the private ambulance arriving at 5 55. Thats an 18minute span. The maximum Response Time allowed is ten minutes for a lifethreatening call. Paramedics were unable to revive the man. Poor ambulance Response Times have been a major issue for chief joanne hayeswhite. Ktvu has chronicled hundreds of wait times over the past several months that have taken a halfhour, an hour, even up to two hours. The chief has said that 16 new paramedics that hit the streets a few weeks ago that helped the situation. Others say its the recent use of private Ambulance Companies that the city and county are not contracted through that have eased the problem slightly. The Firefighters Union and all of the Employee Work groups have voted to out of chief joanne hayeswhite blasting her management style. Very busy station indeed. This happened at about 35, 40 minutes ago. There were reports of somebody who was carrying a gun. It forced the trains in the system to essentially shut down. The good news, as tori mentioned, all of the trains are running this morning working to get more information. All of a sudden, there is a lot of slow traffic on 280 northbound and i will show it to you on the maps. We had a bunch of crashes, the icons are still there but the crashes are off to the side. 85 is slow. 101 is slow into sunnyvale. We have a lot of slow traffic. But then we also have a lot of slow traffic getting into the south bay as you drive on 101 and 280. Lets go to some pictures here, one more live picture of the bay bridge. Until the Higher Elevations cool off and we get the fog it lift, its really tough it cool down the inland areas. It looks like they will. We get an east wind at livermore. Oakland has turned westerly. 30s in the mountains. 50s for almost everybody else. A lot of low clouds in place, that system is kind of enhancing that fog bank. Thick morning document. New this morning, police in san jose say they made three arrests in connection with the shooting death last month of an innocent bystander. Police arrested lewis gonzalez, Alexander Rana and Michael Castro for the driveby shooting of 24yearold richard watkins. Now, police say watkins was an innocent bystander. He was standing in front of his home on ozukar avenue when hit by a stray bullet last month. The suspects have all been booked into the Santa Clara County jail on charges of homicide. 8 55. Health officials in San Francisco are on alert for more cases of the enterovirus. The department of Public Health is continuing to test for potential cases this week after confirming the citys first case of the virus. A child was admitted to the hospital with enterovirus in september and is said to be in Good Condition. Enterovirus cases have been reported in contra costa, santa cruz, solano and alameda counties. Well, the latest list of restaurants that were shut down because of Serious Health related problems came out. 20 restaurants were given red cards indicates they failed Health Inspections and would be shut down for six months. They include failure to dispose of sewage properly and also contamination from ver mon. The restaurants are refired to post the red, yellow and green score cards in front of their front windows. One landscaper is dead. Another has critical injuries after a bee attack in southern arizona. You are looking at video of firefighters spraying foam and pesticides on the swarm of bees outside a home in douglas.
