Near the nimitz freeway in oakland. We will go to allie rasmus who just arrived on the scene. Allie . Reporter you can see one of the Police Officers, he came up and confirmed, this is an officerinvolved shooting. This is 105th in oakland. Counted at least a dozen cars parked at the intersection. It is blocked off. We are kept a block away from the scene where this all happened. What time it happened. And what the circumstances were. And the officer came and did say that Public Information officer is going to be arriving at the scene little later this morning. We get detailed information from her. In the distance, you can see flashing lights and ambulance beyond that. That is around 6 30 and hasnt gone anywhere since then. The Police Activity started around three this morning. She said she was trying to leave the apartment and police told her to go back inside. They were looking for a man with a gun. After that, she never heard gunfire or any commotion. Not sure what happened after that. And not exactly sure what the circumstances were after that. And we did just get confirmation this is an officerinvolved shooting near 105th avenue. And this is the Public Information officer for Oakland Police is expected to be here on the scene a little later this morning. We will get more information to figure out what happened. We will check back with you in 30 minutes. Allie rasmus, channel 2 news. They are investigating a shooting and robbery overnight and figuring out if they are related. They found two people and this is in the parking lot of a bank on campbell and union avenues. They were called to a robbery at the same time on Second Street and civic center drive. The victim was held at gunpoint but was not hurt. They beat a woman and left her in a playground. This is yesterday at Hillcrest Park on grant street. She was wrapped in a blanket and was in a playground inside the park. This is video of the play ground where she was found. The victim is in her 40s and may have been sexually assaulted. They are searching for suspects. But they didnt release information on who they are looking for. Anyone with information please call police. They want people to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings. This 16yearold girl was jogging and was sexually assaulted on a trial near oak brook and silver creek drive. That is in the core dealia area of the cordelia area of the city. She fought off her attacker. She said he was 18 years olds. Thin build with facial hair. Wearing a black shirt and and gray sweat pants. Anyone with information about the incident is asked asked to call police. Palo alto Police Released this sketch. Police say the man walked through the park. Hopped a fence and last seen walking south on stockton police. He is an africanamerican male and he has a slim build. They are increasing patrols in the area. Governor jerry brown has declared a state of emergency for the wildfires burning in california. They are battling six fires in the northern and Central California area. Three of those were sparked by lightning. They bushed more than 1200 acres and it is just 20 contained. Evacuations are also underway and where they burned more than 7,000 acres. They are burning in the National Forest in the town of burny, the fire has shut down in the area. And part of the Pacific Crest hiking trail. Firefighters from Sonoma County are helping to battle wildfires. There is a team of 22 firefighters sent to the fires. Allie rasmus is the first reporter on the scene s she is talking to police and neighbors about what happened. What have you learned. We dont know the detailor the circumstances behind this officerinvolved shooting. We dont know the condition of the person who was shot. I can tell you up inspect 15 minutes ago, there was an ambulance parked behind the crime scene tape. Behind the intersection. That ambulance left 15 minutes ago and left in a rush. Oakland Police Confirm one of their officers shot someone in the area. We dont know what time that happened. Sometime in the Early Morning hours. It is 105th in oakland. They have brocked off the intersection completely to trafficle and we are being kept a block and a half away from where the incident occurred. According to an anybody who lives in the area. The Police Activity started around three this morning. She was up getting ready for work. And when she saw Police Outside the door searching the area. I came out and trying to leave. And the police had that area blocked off and they were like someone is in the yard with a gun. Now, there are a dozen patrol cars and technicians on the scene. I saw a couple of alameda patrol officers arrive. Not sure if they are involved in the officerinvolved shooting. They do have a presence here along with Oakland Police. We dont know the condition of the person shot or what the circumstances were. And we are told Oakland Police. Alameda sheriffs confirmed it was one of their deputies. We talked to a woman who lives nearby and she said she first noticed the Police Activity in her neighborhood around 3 00 in the morning. Well, governor jerry brown has declared a state of emergency in response to the 17 wildfire it is burning in california. This is just in northern and Central California. We begin this hour of morning on 2 with a developing story we have been following since 7 00 this morning. And oakland neighborhood remains corded off after an Alameda County deputy shoots a suspect. Can what can you tell us . About 30 minutes ago, Oakland Police, Public Information officer arrived on scene. She said she was going to get briefed by the investigators here to find out what led up to this shooting and she was going to bomb back and lay the information to us. You can see her off in the distance behind the crime scene tape. Looks like she is still getting briefed by investigators so we dont have the details of what happened to this deputy involved shootingful it happened near this intersection at 105 avenue and eve in oakland. Much of the intersection has been closed off to traffic and in some cases even residents and neighbors who live in the area though it looks like they have been letting traffic through on 105. Alameda county sheriffs Office Confirms it was one of its deputies that shot someone. A neighbor who lives nearby told us she saw some Police Activity around 3 00 a. M. When she was trying to leave for work. All they said was they were looking for someone in a yard with the gun. That was at 3 00. They havent found him yet. I assume he is no longer here. Did you hear gunshot ins . No and i was up because i was getting ready for work. That was at 3 00 a. M. A few hours later at 6 00 a. M. , a resident woke up to a loud noise. He did hear gunfire. Several rounds fired. We dont know the condition of the person who was shot. And again, we are still waiting to get some more information from Oakland Police Public Information officer. Police say they found two people who had been shot before 12 30 no morning at canyon and union avenue. They were called to a robbery at Second Street and civic center drive. Concord police say they are searching for whoever badly beat a woman before leaving her in a playground. The woman was found about 6 45 yesterday morning at Hill Crest Park at olivera road. She was wrapped in a blanket and was in a playground inside the park. This is video of the playground where she was found. Police say the victim is in her 40s and may have been sexually assaulted. They are still searching for is superintendents but have not released any information. Anybody with information about this incident is asked to call concord pd. The search is on for a man police say sexually assaulted a 16yearold girl while she was jogging in fairfield. It happened at 12 30 yesterday afternoon at a trail at oak brook and silver creek drive. The teen says she fought back and was able to escape her attacker and ran home for help. She describes the attacker as a white male. Approximately 18 years old. He has a thin build with facial hair. He was wearing a black shirt, gray sweat pants. Anyone with information is asked to call the police. Palo alto police have released this picture of a man who exposed himself to children friday evening at seal park on Stockton Place. He walked into the park, hopped over a fence and was last seen walking south on Stockton Place. He is described as an African American man, 46 years old with a slim build. Several people arrested during a joint operation by Antioch Police and the chp. They focused on parts of antioch that have seen a recent surge in gun violence. In addition to the arrests, several stolen cars including one taken during a carjacking where recovered. Officers found three different guns. We are going to have the possibility of not only all this mid and high level moisture overhead, and feeling a little muggy today, tomorrow, and the next day, we may actually squeeze out a few scattered showers. I will show you when coming up. 9 31. We are following new ins east oakland where deputies shot a suspect. Investigators have been trying to piece together what happened. Allie rasmus is there. She is joins now with the spokeswoman for the Oakland Police department. This deputy involved shooting happened before 6 00 this morning. Reporter the intersection behind me, 105 avenue. Joining me now is Joanna Watson to tell us what happened. Good morning, i can confirm there was an officer involved shooting. This involved Alameda County sheriffs deputy. This was a canine officer searching a ward for a wanted superintendent. That individual was located by the canine and this did result in an officer involved shooting. Currently, i can tell you the suspect is deceased. The Homicide Division is on scene investigating. We have the Alameda County district attorneys Investigation Team here as well and the alameda sheriffs county. So we have three levels of investigation. But there has been an officer involved shooting. And no officers are injured or hurt. Excuse me, no officers are injured. And we can verify at this time, that only the Alameda County deputy was involved in the shooting. Was there a vehicle pursuit that happened before that suspect was hiding in the backyard of somebodys home . I will share with you what took place this morning. 3 57 this morning. To the Oakland Police Department Officers were on patrol. Officers did discover and locate a vehicle that was wanted in connection with a Home Invasion robbery that occurred july 12. During that Home Invasion robbery, some of the victims were pistol whipped, the vehicle and a very similar description of the suspect was described. Officers located that vehicle this morning. They initiated a Traffic Enforcement stop. The sole occupant of the vehicle failed to pull over for the officers. There was a pursuit. Officers lost the vehicle in the area around 55th and international. About a minute later, they located the vehicle again which is right down the street from where we are. 105. Were there other people in the vehicle . The vehicle had one sole occupant who was in control of the vehicle at the time the officers initially discovered the vehicle. And also, attempted to make a Traffic Enforcement stop. In the area of 105, that is where the suspect exited the vehicle and ran into nearby yards. The Oakland Police department and officers immediately established a perimeter. They locked down the area. Because of the weather, it is a low fog right now over the city of oakland. We are unable to activate our Police Helicopter this morning. Reporter so you have to do the search on the ground with the canine officers. So we requested a canine to respond to the scene to atist with the search. The Oakland Police department did not have a canine available so we reached out to the alomide county sheriff. They responded with their canine. We were conducting a systematic search of the yards. That is when the canine did locate the suspect. The canine officer, the Alameda County sheriff deputy did discharge his service firearm and the result of that is the suspect was fatally shot. Reporter thank you very much. Oakland Public Information officer. This shooting happened just before 6 00 this morning. It happened with a Police Pursuit of a stolen vehicle it ended when the person in that vehicle ran into the backyard of some of the residents here 105th avenue. And that canine officer deputy with Alameda County sheriffs located the man and what resulted was the shooting and the man did die. We will continue to stay on this story throughout the afternoon. And this morning, Oakland Police continue to investigate three separate shootings. One left a man dead, another injured a man, and a third put a 13yearold in the hospital. We learned the teen hurt in that shooting was trying to buy candy when she was shot in the shoulder at the huntsbury market friday night. Right now, she is at oakland Childrens Hospital. She is expected to make a full recovery. Police have not made an arrest in any of those shootings.
