Some people are waking up to 4 inches of the wet snow. Clouds, showers. Possible thundershowers later this afternoon into tonight. Also shaded with a vigorous low this time of year. You can see a lot of the moisture. Thunderstorms, rain or snow up in the sierra. Some of that will wrap around. Its already heading back towards parts of the north bay. I think napa, solano, contra costa. Clouds, light rain, drizzle. Its a cool pattern out there. Increasing clouds this afternoon. Possible showers and thundershowers later this afternoon into tonight. I think thats the best opportunity. What were seeing now, i just cant find it. The beam goes over the top of it. This will not. I mean, theres pretty good snow being reported up up there as well. It will be a very active day. Some of that moisture will peel off from the sierra and head back to us not before a cool day. A lot of low 50s. We had plenty of 40s. Theres a decent breeze for some. Not crazy. It will be a breezy, cool. A better opportunity from all of this coming back around. Today is the best opportunity. Sun and clouds, light, rain, afternoon showers, maybe some thundershowers. It will be on the go up in the sierra all day today. 60s or very low 70s. Heres sal. Good morning. Traffic is moving along well in some areas. Very slow in others. This is a look at the eastshore freeway on 80 westbound between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze. Remember yesterday, we had 90 minute delays in some of these commutes. Today, its more normal. 34 minutes. Not too bad. A little bit of stopandgo traffic along the way. Well take it compared to yesterday. Also at the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic continues to be slow as you drive up to San Francisco. 35minute drive time. 580 through tracy and livermore has been a problem. We had a crash at north flynn. As we move into the center core of the bay area, southbound 880 slows at 238. Very slow traffic until you reach stevenson in fremont. 7 03. Back to the desk. Thank you, sal. Were following breaking news. Right now, police are on the scene of a double shooting. This is happening in hayward. The shooting was reported about 90 minutes ago on the corner of cooper and huntwood avenue. These now are live pictures from the scene. Police just confirmed to us that the victims are two men. Theres no word on their conditions right now. We dont know how seriously theyve been injured. Neighbors tell us they heard multiple gunshots earlier this morning. At this point, again, no information on the shooter or the motive for the gunfire. But as you can see, its a very active scene. A lot of police there. A lot of police cars and some of the streets cordoned off as well. Ktvus brian flores is gathering information at the scene and he will have a live report on the scene of a double shooting on cooper and huntwood avenues in hayward. Brian flores will have a live report coming up in 30 minutes. 7 04. New this morning, a san jose family terrified and angry. Someone set their cars on fire while they were sleeping. It happened on san point drive. It was all caught on camera. Janine de la vega is there now with more on why this family thinks they were targeted. Janine . Reporter yes, the man who lives here says he is being targeted and he wants it to stop. He was very emotional and upset. As you can see in the driveway all thats left is the soot. Two cars that were sitting there were towed away because they are destroyed. You can see the palm trees that are scorched because they caught fire. Now, this all started at about 2 15 this morning at the home on san point drive near capitol expressway and quinnby. Vandals were caught on cameras creeping up behind the trees at the home. One of them takes out a can and starts to douse the acura with fluid and lights it on fire. Soon after the flames start. The cars owner said his daughter heard popping noises and woke the family up. By then, the fire had spread to the other car parked in the driveway. Firefighters rushed to the scene and put on the the fire. Tran is afraid because he said this is the third time his car was vandalized in the last month and a half. For someone to do this continuously, this is the third incident, that means that this persons very hateful. Reporter what are you thinking as you are watching this . Terrible. I mean, this is heartbreaking. And, you know, i hope they catch the guy that did this. Reporter police are investigating the fire and two more incidents this family has endured. In midapril, the tires of his acura were slashed. Then in the beginning of may, his Security Cameras caught a vandal walking up to the home and throwing a gallon of paint all over the same car. Tran says he doesnt know why this is happening. He said back in december someone tried to break into his home and thats why they got the Security Cameras installed and they also put in an alarm. Police went door to door last night questioning neighbors. Tran says hes cooperating with police and he really hopes that they get to the bottom of this. Some students, koch students in the College Students in the south bay are scrambling trying to figure out what to do after their school suddenly closed. Yesterday, santa clara sheriffs deputies slapped Brian College in san jose with an eviction order. Students were told to pack up their things and leave with no further explanation and no advice on whats next. Do i transfer my credits to a Different School . Do i wait to see if they will pay their rent and i can come back here . I have no idea what im gonna do. This student, amanda, was hoping to become a medical assistant and has paid 16,000 in tuition. Bri man bryman other campuses remain open. A 10yearold was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a car in an Elementary School parking lot. It happened around 3 00 yesterday at mmno grant elementary. Police say someone was picking up another student and accidentally hit the boy. The boy was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition. Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. A pleasanthill city clerk who had been under fire for months accused of not doing her job has resigned. She failed to produce minutes of meetings for an entire. She was the subject of a recall effort. Yesterday, she emailed a Resignation Letter to the Pleasant Hill mayor saying she accepted a in you job in washington, d. C. All five members called for her to step down. Seismologists have been warning about a big earthquake in five. Now they say the bay area is more likely to have several mid sized earthquakes instead of another strong erk like the one in earthquake like the one in 1906. The experts say thats an entirely new set of problems to cope with. They say a quake cluster could keep communities cleaning up damage constantly. More optimism this week from those firefighters battling the fires near san diego. Firefighters say they expect to have the destructive fires contained later this week. Now, the fire in northern san diego county, it is now 91 contained. That one started last wednesday in san marcos. It destroyed 36 homes and one business. Its just one of about a dozen wildfires. Altogether, the fires burned 44 homes and 18 unis in an ale units in an apartment building. It is 7 14. The friends of a young man who fell to his death in the Berkeley Hills say they are confused about why he was there in the first place. 22yearold Lorenzo Trujillo died sunday afternoon after falling from a rock near grizzly peak boulevard. His friends say he had been to the area often but always took pictures from the parking area and had no interest in hiking or exploring. As for the rock he fell from, they say they are shocked that he even attempted to climb it. He gets out of the car taking pictures of us or out there, but its rare that he will get out of the car and walk around. Thats weird to us. Going over the edge to hike town town down he would not do that. His body was found at the base by a hiker. He has a brother in concord and other family in mexico. Uc police would like to hear from anyone who saw Lorenzo Trujillo before he fell. Actor michael jace best known for appearances in shows like shield and southland has been arrested and charged in the shooting death of his wife. He was handcuffed last night at his home. Police responded to a Domestic Violence incident after neighbors heard they heard gunshots of the couple had been married nine years and had children. An 18yearold San Leandro High School student is hit and killed by an amtrak train. Ktvus Tara Moriarty joust arriveled at the just arrived at the school and is learning about a vigil. Reporter britany silvas classmates are trickling into classes right now. Her stepfather said they are planning a candlelight vigil at the train tracks where she was killed. One man said britany was a very determined young woman. He said he would always see here carrying around a calculus book and she told him she wanted to be a doctor some day. She was a topnotch student here at San Leandro High School. She was getting ready to graduate and had just been accepted to several colleges. She was heading southbound on the sidewalk across the train tracks just before 6 00 last night talking on her cell phone when she was struck and killed. A witness said she didnt appear to see or hear the train coming. So he yelled out to warn her but she didnt respond. Meanwhile, her family is obviously in shock. She was a wonderful person. She always made everybody smile. She was the light of the room, the light of the party. Reporter now, this Public Service announcement was released last month to warn people of the danger of walking near train tracks. It shows a young man wearing ear bug earplugs. The psa is part of a national campaign. Last year in california alone, 76 people were killed while walking on train tracks. Thats more than any other state. Britanys family said she just started a new job at a yogurt shop in dublin. She had opened up her First Bank Account yesterday. Hopefully, were going to be talking to some students and find out some of them who knew her and what their feelings are during this tragic time. Back in march, 14yearold jenna betty was killed by a train in martinez. Police say she was with her boyfriend when they saw the train coming and ran away. Betty went back to get her cell phone and was hit. There are still pink ribbons and a memorial set up in the area where she was killed. 7 17. Lets check in with sal. Lets get you to where you need to go, sal. 280 and everything else, you are keying an eye on it. Traffic is going to be slow in the south bay as you drive on northbound 2280. We just showed you 280. We just showed you 280. The traffic is going to remain slow all the way up into the cupertino exits. 101 and 85 are also slow. We dont have anything major going on. But well see some delays. Lets take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. This is pretty thick. 35minute drive time into San Francisco. So it is thicker than it was, lets say, but noes not as not as bad as it was yesterday. The last three, four weeks weve been bad with traffic. People have been writing to me about it on twitter, facebook and email. The eastshore freeway, westbound, it was ridiculous yesterday. 35minute drive time between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze. 580 westbound has been very slow. People were delayed from the Altamont Pass. We have slow traffic getting into dublin. If you look at the core of the bay area between 238 and 880 its very slow heading down to the thornton avenue exit. Lets go to steve. All right, sal. Thank you. Wonderful information coming in. A lot of reports of light drizzle around palo alto also over to fremont. Laura hernandez and Nicole Anderson sent me a nice picture from South Lake Tahoe of beautiful snow up there. A couple of people woke up 2, 4 inches of snow. Around sunnyvale, palo alto, redwood city, fremont, newark, san jose, very light drizzle. It does not show up. Otherwise, i would say there it is on the radar. Clouds, cool, breezy. More clouds this afternoon. A better opportunity for thundershowers and or showers from all of the moisture peeling off, wrapping back around. Its already beginning to happen. Lake county, Mendocino County in line. I would say also napa county. And then eventually probably solano, contra costa and the cloud and rain forecast there will be a lot going on in tahoe. I think there will be pretty hefty snow totals and theres thunderstorms early this morning. See how the moisture wraps around heading towards parts of the north bay. That will be in line for the afternoon hours. By this afternoon, well start to watch as some of this comes back in the Sacramento Valley and maybe the Santa Clara Valley right there about 10 00, 11 00, it might clip the Altamont Pass down towards morgan hill. One more system and then another day of thunderstorm activity or rain snow. The next two days look really good. We talked about how the system has a good punch. Were on the western edge. It doesnt mean we cant get a little bit of rain out of the system. A lot of cloud cover for those of you reporting the drizzle, it doesnt show up. Its too low and light. But maybe this afternoon well have a better opportunity. Plenty of clouds. A few sunbreaks. Mostly cloudy. Theres still good snow up in the sierra. Some locations look impressive. 50s on the temperatures. We had a lot of 40s this morning. There will be a breeze, blustery. Sfo, 15 miles an hour. Even 8 out at livermore. Even with the 50s. You put the breeze behind that, it will be cool. The moisture streaming back off this sierra and also up to the north is definitely putting us in line for the possibility of showers. Get a little afternoon heating even though it wont be that warm. The low will be in Southern California starting wednesday night into thursday. Thats when well start to see improving conditions. But next day and a half, is up and clouds. Light rain, drizzle, increasing clouds coming off the sierra this afternoon. Tonight, maybe some thundershowers popping up. Then we clear it out and after that sunshine and warmer temperatures into the weekend. A Texas Police Officer recovering, he jumped 30 feet off a bridge as an outof control came straight at him. Push there he goes, tori. That Police Officer had just made a traffic stop friday evening. He heard screeching tires. A car smashed into his patrol car, came right at him so he made the decision to jump off the brick to keep from be bridge to keep from being pinned. The driver of the car was an Elementary Schoolteacher. Police say she was drunk at the time. Shes facing charges of intoxication assault. Today, workers rights activists will try to deliver an award of shame to the ceo of gap at a Shareholders Meeting in San Francisco. The activists will also display photos of workers injure and killed when a factory collapsed in bangladesh. More people were hurt, they say, at another factory there. Activists say gap is not doing enough to protect its workers and families. 7 25. A warning if you plan to buy a car here in the bay area. Police say a certain type of theft is becoming more sophisticated and you could become the next victim. Investigators say thieves are cutting the vin number. The vehicle id number from stolen vehicles and replacing it from another vin number from another car. Authorities say it happens all of the time. In one case, a san leandro man recently found out that a classic malibu he bought more than ten years ago was actually stolen from Quentin Tarantino, the movie director. Im flabbergasted. How could this happen to me . Hes out all of the money and time he put in the car. Hes one good example of this happening to people all of the time. 12 years after he got the car from a private seller, he got a call from police saying they needed to inspect his car. The real vin number identified it as stolen from Quentin Tarantino in 1995. It was the very car John Travoltas character drove in the movie pulp fiction and he had to give the car back. 7 26. A frightening wakeup call in san leandro. I heard a boom and i thought it was an earthquake. The mistake a young driver admits to making before barreling into two homes and two cars overnight. There is a neighborhood in san leandro which is cleaning up right now and surveying the damage left behind after a teenager lost control of his car overnight crashing into two other cars, smashing through a fence and ending up crashed into a home. Pretty good snow. About 4 inches at lake level. And some areas picked up thunderstorms and weve had some light drizzle here mainly favoring the peninsula and fremont, newark, down to san jose. Its hard the radar beam doesnt pick up the drizzle. Whats there around sunnyvale. I know around newark, palo alto, redwood city, down to san jose, just doesnt show up. Its there. Its very, very light. A lot of cloud cover over us. Cool conditions. These low clouds are a by product of the system pumping in good systems. 50s on the temperatures. We had a lot of 40s. I think well see a repeat performance. Sfo, west at 15. Northwest, half moon bay. It will be a mostly cloudy, kind of a breezy day. The key is right here, some of this moisture will continue to come off the sierra. Its already happening heading to development. I think north bay and east bay. Everybody in line by later this afternoon. Maybe some thunderstorm activity. Kind of cool. Well get development out of this. 60s, very low 70s. I will have more on the sierra snow in ten minutes. Right now traffic is going be busy if you are driving on highway 24 westbound, 14 minutes between Pleasant Hill road and the tunnel. You can see a lot of the slow traffic is right here but also slow traffic in other spots as well. Lets go to the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic here is backed up for 35, 40minute delay. The average time it used to be was maybe 20, 25 minutes. Its been creeping up every week or so. Its a little bit longer to wait at the toll plaza. Trust me. People have noticed. 6le 0 from 680 from 242 to walnut creek rut gear road, stopandgo traffic there. 80 will be slow as you drive from the hercules area into richmond. You heard tori. Right now police are investigating a double shooting it. It happened at cooper and huntwood avenues. Ktvus brian flores is there. You are pulling together information. Brian, if you can hear me, what did you find out . Reporter still a lot of unanswered questions. What i can say, there are several hayward Police Officers here this morning, again, on the corner of huntwood and cooper here in hayward. I count at least seven Police Officers, several overs as well, investigating a double shooting that happened at this house on the 200 block of cooper. It remains blocked off as Police Continue to investigate. Police got the call shortly before 5 30 this this morning after many residents called in after they heard several shots fired. Hayward police have confirmed that that are two men were shot. We dont know the circumstances behind it. We understand they were transported to a nearby hospital. We dont know the extent of their injuries. We know that the shooting took place at the house as well. But its unclear if the men were shot inside the home or perhaps on the driveway. Were still working on piecing that together this morning. But again, two men injured this morning as well. Its also unclear whether the gunmen remain on the loose. But again, as we take it back out here live, pretty heavy investigation going on by Hayward Police. Theyve blocked off southbound traffic on huntwood and cooper as Police Investigate. Northbound traffic, however, remains open to traffic. There is a Public Information officer here on scene. New this morning, an outof control car caused quite a bit of damage in san leandro early this morning hitting two parked cars and two houses. It happened near the intersection of alvarado street and marina boulevard. Alex savidge has been at the crash scene since 4 30 this morning talking to the driver and witnesses and joins us live. Good morning, alex. Reporter well, a lot of damage out here, tori. But thankfully, nobody seriously hurt. The young man who caused this crash told me he simply dozed off as he was heading home from work. He barreled right through the front yard of this home, plowed through the picket fence and the car hit two cars parked in the driveway. There was also you can see some damage done to this home. Some of the brick here at the home. This all happened after 3 00 this morning on alvarado street, just off marina boulevard. There was quite a bit of damage but the 19yearold driver involved here walked away unhurt. His nissan sedan slammed into a toyota and a subaru parked in a driveway. Both of them were totaled. Those cars were pushed into the side of the house. The man intold us he woke up to a loud boom, what he thought was an earthquake. But his house thankfully didnt have any serious damage because he says the cars took the impact. Im thinking if the cars werent here, who knows . It might have been a different story. It could have been a lot worse other than im losing sleep now. Reporter the driver who caused all of this damage didnt want to show us his face. He told me he drifted off and woke up in someones front yard trying to make sense of exactly what happened. The Police Sergeant told me there were no signs that teenaged driver was under the influence and therefore he was released and likely will not be cited for this crash. The house fire in oakland is under investigation this morning after people were seen running from the building. It was reported at 9 40 at davis street and prentice place near fruitvale avenue. Firefighters say the twostory house was vacant but there are reports squatters were living there. No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters say they have responded to other house fires in the same area where squatters were reportedly living. A weekend tragedy in the south bay. Another sad sa reminder about children sad reminder about children and pool safety. A 1yearold drowned sunday in the backyard spa on ant 0. Nin avenue and cupertino. The firefighters performed cpr but he died. Its not clear how he ended up in the water. Last week, a child drowned in a Swimming Pool in antioch. The man accused of kidnapping and killing teenager teenage sierra lamar will face the Death Penalty. Sierra lamars family members talked about the Death Penalty possibility with the Santa Clara County d. A. s office. They say they know it will take a lot longer for the trial but that Antolin Garciatorres should face the ultimate penalty if found guilty. It doesnt exactly take away the angst, you know, the waiting period. Its still difficult as a family to go through that. Volunteers at the sierra lamar search area hope the threat of the Death Penalty will convince Antolin Garcia torres to lead authorities to her body. The task force investigating the Fatal Shooting of 13year old andy lopez, they will go to san jose next month. The Task Force Wants to see if san joses independent Police Auditor program would be the best way to respond to any future incidents when officers use deadly force. That panel was formed shortly after a sheriffs deputy shot and killed the 13yearold boy back in october. The Sonoma County d. A. Is Still Deciding whether to file criminal charges against the deputy who killed lopez after mistaking his fake gun for a real one. Oakland will announce plans to upgrade parking meters around the city. The city will convert all 3800 of the current meters to new smart meters. The new meters will accept coins bup you can also pay with credit or debit cards as well as your phone. Installation starts next week. City leaders stay parking rates, time and enforcement will not change. Walmart plans to expand its digital Operation Staff in sunnyvale. The words largest retailer already has 550 workers at an e Commerce Center on west california. Now is lined a lease for more office space nearby along mathilda avenue. Walmart will hire up to a,000 new tech workers. The company likes the location, not because so many talented engineers are available. Its close to transit, retail and restaurants. The Sonoma County water agency will start to inflate a rubber dam. Every spring the dam is inflated to provide Drinking Water to more than 600,000 people in sonoma and marin county. The drought has not changed this years plans. The signs are posted. They warn people dont swim or fish near the area. A new uc davis study says it can also lead thousands of farm workers without a job. This one is pitting locals against tourists. Yes. There are so many Beautiful Spots in San Francisco that truly attract people from around the world. But that can be a problem for people who live in the city. This time, the debate is over lombard street. Its known as the crookedest street in the world even though technically crooked hest is not crookedest is not a word. The Transportation Agency will vote on a program to close the crooked part of lombard street on weekends between june 21st and july 13th and on the 4th of july. Only People Living there would be able to get through with a car. Now, they say it can take an hour and a half to get home because of all of the people who want to drive down their street. Now, this follows a similar problem surrounding San Franciscos famous painted ladies in alamo square. The transportation board voted to exclude commercial buses with ten or more seats from that area. There are a number of muni stops near alamo square. Locals say its still accessible to viewers. However, tourists and people who work in the Tourism Business in San Francisco, they are not happy. It disappeared behind her car and the driver behind her said it crawled up into the wheel well. It was so scared. Shaking. Sad. Horrified. Yeah,ary cau called the erica called the Freeway Services Patrol to come out and they used a tow truck to lift the back of the car. One of the workers crawled under there and found the kitten. Its taking you a good 15 minutes to make the drive. Yesterday was almost double that. This is a look at the commute now at the bay bridge toll plaza. We have a backup or a drive time, i should say, of about 40 minutes getting into San Francisco. Unfortunately, it sounds like this has become the new normal. Very crowded traffic on the bridge. Some theories people are slowing to take a look at the old bridge going away or more people are on the road. More people have jobs. Everything. But something is happening for sure. We know it the we cant put our ficker on it. Lets take a look at the drive from Pleasant Hill road to the caldecott. Thick and crowded. 13 minutes. This is usually an eight or sevenminute drive when theres no traffic. If you are on 680 its backed up from 242. 242 is backed up to highway 4. Lets go to steve. Thank you, sal. Mostly cloudy skies. The keys rain overnight turned to snow. 2 inches of snow there. About 2 to 4 covering it. Even a couple of reports of thunderstorms. Investigators say three men were arguing in the driveway of this home when the shooting happened just before 5 30 a. M. Two of the men were wounded and police say those victims knew the gunmen. The father says his car has now been vandalized three times. He doesnt know who is doing this to them. If you take a look in the driveway, you can see its completely blackened from the flames. The family doused those trees with water so the flames wouldnt spread to the home. Two vandals were caught on Security Cameras at around 2 15 this morning. They were crouching behind the palm trees at this home near quinnby and capitol expressway. One of them takes out a can and starts putting fluid on the acura and lights it on fire. Soon after, the flames start and the cars owner, tran. The daughter heard popping noises and woke the family up. Firefighters rushed to the scene and put out the fires. Family members and friends still mourning the tragic death of an 18yearold girl hit and killed by an amtrak train in san leandro. Tara moriarty is at San Leandro High School. Apparently there was another student killed less than twoments ago. This two months ago. This is the second death theyve had to deal with. Its hitting them pretty hard. Britanys stepfather says they will be planning a candlelight vigil tonight next to the train tracks where she was killed. Grief counselors are being offered today on campus. The assistant principal came out near a few minutes ago and said that pritny had a britany had a rough start to high school but turned things around and had been accepted to colleges and was a good student. She was heading southbound on the sidewalk toward the train tracks just before 6 00 last night talking on her cell phone when she was hit or killed. A witness said he yelled to warner because she wasnt responding. She planned to go to humboldt and after there, she wanted to go become a doctor. She was ready to graduate. She had the grades for it. She she just really enjoyed being here and to think that we graduate in three weeks really putting a downer on all of us. Reporter this Public Service announcement was released last month to warn people of the danger of walking near train tracks. It shows a young man wearing air bug style earphones. This is part of the national campaign. Last year in california alone 76 people were killed while walking on train tracks. Thats more than any other state. Britanys family said she just started a new job at a yogurt shop in dublin and just opened up a bank account the day before. She was quite excited about that. This is a tough one all the way around. Britany silva and her family, they were part of a story about a butane explosion at a homeless camp. Back on april 29th, the homemade oil lab exploded near their apartment in san leandro. College students in the south bay scrambling this morning trying to figure out what to do after their school suddenly closed. Yesterday, Santa Clara County sheriffs deputy slapped Bryman College in san jose with an eviction order. Students were told back up their things and leave. No further explanation. No advice on what is next. Do i transfer my credits to a Different School . Do i wait to figure out if the school if they are gonna pay their rent and i can come back here . I have no idea what im gonna do. This student was hoping to become a medical assistant. Shes paid 16,000 in tuition. Bryman offers courses in medical college. Sean whent signed an affiliation agreement yesterday with the Peralta Community district. It links merit college and the police department. Officers will be able to interact with students and offer support for a possible police career. Mayor jean quan hopes the program attracts more people who live in oakland. Our last class had about 16 to our oakland residents. I would like to get up to 50 of the candidates. Programs like this will give us a steady, we hope slow of young people interested in the police department. Mayor quan says the city will be hiring another 60 others. Happening now the city of moore, oklahoma is holding a remembrance ceremony to mark the First Anniversary of the deadly tornado that killed 24 people. You can see these live pictures right now as some officials are moving toward the center part. It looks like they will ring a bell to honor those killed. Hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed. The tornado was on the ground for 40 minutes. The damage was 17 miles lodge, more than a mile long, more than a mile wide. It was an ef5. The most destructive tornado on the scale. [bell tolling] sounded like 24 rings of the bell there. One for each person who died, including nine children. The governor today will also break ground on a new Medical Center which was destroyed in last years storm. The friend of a man who fell to his death in the Berkeley Hills says they really dont know why he was there. 22yearold Lorenzo Baltazar Trujillo died after falling from a rock at grizzly peak boulevard. Friends say he had been to the area often but always took pictures from the parking area and had no interests in hiking or exploring. As for the rock he fell from, they say they are shocked he attempted to climb it. If he gets out of the car, he will take pictures. But its rare he gets out of the car. Reporter so going over the edge to hike down he with not do that. They say the fall is more than 100 feet. His poddy was found at body was found at the base near a hiker. Uc police would like to hear from anybody who saw him before he fell. 8 17. Here is a warning if you plan to buy a car in the bay area. Police say a certain kind of theft is getting more sophisticated and you could become the next victim. Investigators say thieves are cutting the vin number, the vehicles identification number, off stolen cars, and replacing it with a printed vin number from another stolen car. Authorities say its happening all of the time. In one case, a san leandro man recently found out a classic malibu he bought more than ten years ago, it was actually stolen from movie director quintin tarantino. Im just thinking im flabbergasted. How could this happen to me. Hes out all of the money and time he put in the car. Hes one example of people this happens to all of the time. 12 years ago after he got the car from a private seller, he got a call from police saying they needed to inspect his car. The real vin number on the chevy is the car stolen from quintin tarantino. It was a car that john vau voltas travoltas character drove in pulp fiction and he had to give the car back. Westbound 92 just before the san mateo bridge. Remember what i said about the san mateo bridge being a decent alternate. Scratch that. Its not any longer with that crash there. Watch out for this crash just before the san mateo bridge toll plaza and by the way, theres also slow traffic heading south on 880 getting there. The east bay commute has been particularly bad. You can see some of that light rain that made it on the peninsula. Light rain, sunnyvale had a nice viewer picture of mike from sunnyvale to rainbow there. Could be another rainbow day. Some of that light rain from fremont down to san jose. Most of it looks like its ended also in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It looks like things are dying on down a little bit. Up in the sierra, been pretty good snow and some of this will continue to head back towards us. 50s on the temps. Even with the sun, it wont be very warm. Well see increasing clouds. You can see the clouds increasing in the north bay and east bay. A mix of sun and clouds. Light rain, drizzle looks like its about done. Maybe some afternoon showers or thundershowers. That would be the best bet for today. 60s or low 70s. Heres sal. We still have a bunch of slow traffic everywhere. I want to mention caltrain delays. We had a couple of delays. If you take caltrain, check in the with the website or the app. A lot of trains are crowded because of the delays or issues. If you are a caltrain rider, check in with them. Lets take a look at the traffic on 280 northbound and southbound. Its been pretty heavy and slow getting up in the west valley. I want to show you the map of the south bay. You will see the traffic is slow not only on 280 but 85 and 101. There isnt a clear alternative that i can point you to. Some of the roads have been pretty slow. I want to show you some traffic times. Highway 24 is not bad. But 880 and 580 are very slow. Lets go back to the desk. All right, sal. Were getting new information right now about a double shooting just before 5 30 this morning at cooper and huntwood in hayward. Brian flores was the first reporter there. Hes joining us now. You have the latest on what may have led up to those sheetings. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Police say they will be here for a few more hours as they gather evidence to this double shooting that happened before 5 30 this morning at the home behind me on the 200 block of cooper. I just spoke with the Hayward Police sergeant moments ago. He said three people were arguing on the driveway in front of the home around 5 30. That argument apparently escalated and one of the people in the group pulled out a gun and opened fire hitting two men. Hayward Police Say One of the victims was shot multiple times. I spoke with one person who lives next door. He heard ten gunshots this morning. When pd arrived, both victims were taken to a nearby hospital. It remains unclear this morning, their conditions. We understand they were conscious and speaking with First Responders when they left the scene. As for the gunman, police are trying to nail down who it is exactly, trying to get that information from the victims. When i spoke with hayward pd, its believed that the gunman likely knew the two men shot. That gunman remains on the loose this morning. Again, as we take it back out here live, police have blocked off the southbound lanes. It appears that they just reopened the lanes. Both lanes on huntwood remain open this morning. Police also tell me that this is not the only time theyve responded to the house. They say this remains an active residence for the hayward pd. Alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. Thank you. An outofcontrol car caused quite a bit of damage, hitting two parked cars and two houses. Alex savidge is live with more. Reporter good morning to you. It sounds as those Drowsy Driving may be to blame. The young man behind the wheel of this car told me he simply dozed off while heading home from work early this morning. His car drifted off the road and you can see the path it took right through the front yard of this home. It plowed through this white picket fence went through the yard and then slammed into two parked cars parked in this driveway. You can see there was also some damage done to this home next door. This crash happened after 3 00 this morning. This is on alvarado street near marina boulevard. While there was quite a bit of damage, the 19yearold driver walked away from this crash unhurt. His nissan sedan slammed into a toyota and a subaru that were parked in the driveway. Both cars were totaled. The cars were pushed into the side of the house next door and the man inside told me he woke up to a loud boom. He thought it was an earthquake initially. Now, the driver didnt want to be identified but he told me what he learned from this accident. Stay awake. Not get relaxed in my car when im tired. I feel thankful for no one being hurt. Reporter now, Police Sergeant told me there were no signs that the driver was under the influence. He was released and likely wont be cited. They say it was simply an accident. Its very fortunate nobody was hurt. A lot of cleanup, though, for a couple of homeowners to do in san leandro. It was reported last night at 9 40 at davis street and prentice place near fruitvale avenue. Firefighters say this twostory house was vacant. There are reports that squatters were living there. No one was hurt. Firefighters say they responded to other house fires in that same area where squatters reportedly were living. The man accused of kidnapping and killing sierra lamar will face the Death Penalty. Antolin garciatorres pleaded not guilty in february. Sierra lamar was 15 when she went missing more than two years ago. Sierras family talked about the Death Penalty with the Santa Clara County d. A. s office. They say they know it will take a lot longer for the trial but that Antolin Garciatorres should face the ultimate penalty. It doesnt exactly take away the angst, you know, the waiting period. Its still difficult as a family to go through that. The volunteers at the Sierra Lamar Search Center hope the threat of the Death Penalty will convince Antolin Garcia torres to lead authorities to her body. 8 38. The Sonoma County task force looking into the Fatal Shooting of 13yearold andy lopez will travel to san jose next month. The Task Force Wants to see if san joses independent Police Auditor program will be the best way to respond to future incidents. When officers use deadly force. The panel was formed shortly after a sheriffs deputy shot and killed the 13yearold boy in october. The Sonoma County District Attorney is Still Deciding whether to file criminal charges against the deputy who killed lopez after mistaking his pellet gun for a real assault rifle. 8 38. Today, oakland will announce plans to upgrade parking meters all over the city. The city will convert all 3800 of the current meters to new smart meet es. The new meters will stick take doins but you can coins but you can pay with credit and debit cards and do it by phone. The installation starts next week. The parking rates, the times and the enforcement, that will not change. Caltrans is making fival prepare tions preach brakeses for the busy closure of 280 in preparations for the busy closure of 280. The king street onram to the pennsylvania street offramp will be closed starting 9 00 thursday night. Its not rescheduled to open until 5 00 a. M. Tuesday morning. Caltrans has put up signs on freeways all across the bay area alerting drivers to the memorial day weekend closure. Crews will be shutting down the freeway to replace a hinge in the highway which allows the road to absorb movement in the event of an earthquake. The hinge is in the structure. So we have to demolish the roadway structure to get access to those hinges. The northbound lanes of 280 will remain open during this memorial day weekend but they will be closed during both the 4th of july weekend and the Labor Day Holiday weekend during the next phases of this project. Britany silva was walking on the tracks at his pearian boulevard and springlake drive. Witnesses say she was talking on her phone and did not see or hear the train family. She dreamed of becoming a drunk driver and was looking forward to graduating high school in just three weeks. Police say two people were wounded in an earlymorning shooting in hayward. It happened about 5 30 this morning at the corner of cooper and huntwood. Investigators say the gunfire followed an argument that got out of hand. Both those victims are in the hospital now. The gunman is still on the loose. And a san jose family searching for answers right now after someone set their cars on fire right in the driveway in front of their home. The man who lives at this home is upset. Hes emotional. He knows hes being targeted. He wants all of this stop. You can see his driveway has soot in it. Its cloer it was a very clear it was a very blatant act by the vandals. It happen the at his home on sandpoint drive. You can see two people near the palm trees. One of them takes out a can and then flames start. Then the cars owner vince trans daughter said she heard popping noises and woke the family out. We by then the fire spread to the other vehicle. Firefighters were called to put on the the fire. Tran is afraid to put out the fire. Tran a frad is afraid. This is the third time this has happened to him. This is the third incident. Reporter police are investigating the fire and two more incidents this family has endured. In midapril, the tires of his vehicle were slashed. In the beginning of his may his Security Camera caught a vandal walking up to the home and throwing a gallon of pink paint all over the same car. He doesnt know why this is happening. He says back in december someone tried to break into his home. Thats why they got the cameras and installed an alarm. Again, police went door to door last night questioning neighbor is. We know neighbors. We know that investigators are supposed to be back here in the morning. They will look at the video and talk to people out here to try to get to the bottom of this. Pam cook is in the newsroom now to explain why a car ban on the crooked part of lombard street is being considered today. Good morning, pam. Reporter good morning. First the painted ladies of alamo square, now lombard street. Locals are pushing for restrictions on their world famous street. If you have driven down the crooked part of lombard street, you know its usually a very long wait to do so. Well, imagine for the people who live there, it can be longer and more frustrating. Some say it can take them an hour and a half to get through the traffic near their home. Today, San Franciscos municipal Transportation Agency will vote on an Experimental Program to close the crooked part of lombard street on weekends between june 21st and july 13th and on the 4th of july. Only People Living there would be able to get through with the car. Now, this is similar to the complaints living near alamo square, near the row of homes knownance the painted ladies. After years of arguments, the transportation board voted to exclude commercial buses with ten or more seats from that area. That started this year but tour buses have been spotted breaking the rules as they tried to make their customers happy. Now, people who work in the Tourism Business in San Francisco, they want visitors to be able as well.
