A little breeze might hold up some of the temperatures. Mostly sunny, cool, mild. Slightly warmer. San francisco, yesterday, 59. 62 today. A slight warmup. Still 39 napa airport. Santa rosa has been going down because the temperature is going down because the wind has been decreasing as well. 42. Fairfield is 40. Livermore, 42. Not far away from san jose, we had a couple of low 40s as well. Mostly sunny here. Occasionally higher clouds zipping down from the northwest. Plenty of sunshine. Just northwest breeze at times. Not as bad as yesterday and slight warmup. Upper 60s, low 70s. 60s closer to the water. Heres sal. Were looking at a commute where traffic is going to be busier. Were at the peak of the morning commute. Lets go to 880. All of the icons are still there because of earlier crashes on the nimitz freeway. This is because of a crash primarily the first one being 880 southbound as you drive to 92. It was there for a while. Traffic will be slow. Still in the area. Now as as we look at the as we look at the crashes, you can see that traffic is slow heading south. I would give yourself extra time if i were you. Southbound 85 is slowing down and 101. Well show you 280 in a minute. I want to take a quick peek at the bay bridge toll plaza, 35 to 40minute drive time. A little bit busier than normal. You can see the metering lights are on extra slow trying to get to the bottom of that for you. 101 and 85 in the south bay. Theres 280. That still looks good getting up to highway 17. Back to the desk. Thank you, sal. Developing news in novato where a house fire is being investigated as suspicious. It started just before 3 30 in the garage of the home on chase street. Ktvu channel 2 reporter, Tara Moriarty, has been there at the scene since 4 30. Just spoke to a neighbor who got into some type of altercation with the owner of the home. What happened, tara . The homeowner didnt want to stress charges or anything like that. It sort of raised a lot of red flags. There was extra security called in. A couple of Police Officers, that sort of thing. We did get a chance to talk to that neighbor. You will hear from him. Behind me, you can see where where the arson investigator is about to go up, hes looking for answers to the fire. Reporter they were told they wouldnt be allowed back on campus . Thats correct. From what i understand, the principal came out and admonished the students about what they were doing, took their signs from them and then locked the gate there across the street and wouldnt let them in. The students had planned only to express themselves for 10, 15 minutes but they found they couldnt get back in the school. Reporter were the students penalized for this. From what i was told by a number of parents who i also help, the students were told yesterday they were suspended. Theres no reason that the students should pay a price for her brashness and overreaction. Reporter thank you, jonathan, for joining us today. Rather than punishment, a new report shows the irs is routinely giving such workers huge bonuses. Jamie dupree joins us from washington, d. C. Via skype. Good morning. Reporter this one might make you spit coffee out. A new report from the irs saying that employees at the tax agency who have been found to have committed misconduct in a variety of ways were still given bow knitses, not only money but time off. Not only not paying your federal taxes but also willfully underreporting your income and willfully understating your tax liabilities. Think about this. The people who are here to make sure you pay your federal taxes, they are not paying theirs and they are getting a bonus for it. Its just mind boggling. You have to practice what you preach. My biggest question, how could this happen . Reporter the irs and this is evidently government wide when you are under consideration for performance word, they dont look at whether or not youve had any misconduct allegations leveled against you. People who misuse Government Credit cards or committed a job related miscop duct, that didnt misconduct, that didnt show up to determine whether you should be eligible for the reward. Somebody had been suspended at the irs for ten days in late 2011, they in 201, they got a 1300 bonus. Now, a number of lawmakers chiming in today about this report, some calling it disturbing, total be a abdursurdty. Im sure there will be a lot of talk about this. Tomorrow night start putting that in the back of your mind. Lets move along and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic here is backed up to the macarthur maze and we have a 30minute drive time into San Francisco. Its been steady and slow. We havent had any major problems on the bridge other than the slow traffic. I do want to mention that highway 4 traffic is slow from pittsburg all the way to concord and then concord 680 slow to walnut creek and down to the alamo area. 80 westbound, its also slow in richmond as you drive through. If i can just push back here, i want to just take a look at the south bay. But as we mentioned about two dozen students here at Cook Middle School were told that they were suspended after they marked the sixmonth anniversary of the tragic death of andy lopez. Some pants told their kids to text message them if they were not allowed on campus. The protest began yesterday morning at Lawrence Cookle moo. Students say their intention was to remain peaceful. Protested for about a halfhour and then returned to class to mark the sixmonth anniversary death of andy lopez. The students say they were told by the principal they were not allowed to.
