Good morning, you are taking a live look at berkeley where a major fire destroyed several businesses last night. You could see firefighters still on the scene. All the way stretching through antioch with a delta breeze that continues to blow through the evening hours. And to the north bay where we do have fog and low clouds reported in the areas. And a lot like how we started yesterday with the low clouds overhead. Temperatures not too bad and get into the afternoon. They are warmer than yesterday. And 78 for livermore and 77 in fairfield. 75 in napa. And 68 for oakland. Still a little cool at the coast. Wove the patchy fog remaining. On the up swing. I will show you why and how long this is going to last with the extended forecast coming up. In the top storiesry, firefighters are still at the massive fire that swept a complex in berkeley. This is among the businesses wiped out. Allie rasmus is live for us at the scene. Allie . Reporter they have been out overnight and putting out hot spots. A few minutes ago, we saw the firefighters spraying the outside of the building where the fire happened. Now, we are expecting the inspectors and the battalion chief to return later in the morning. This is the next hour, hour and a half. To figure out how it started. Berkeley police are keeping us a block away from the warehouses. We cant give you an up close look at the damage. We can show you some of the dramatic video from last night. It started at 8 00. This is east shore highway. This is a six alarm fire at its worse. This is from the buildings. The businesses destroyed are the wooden duck and furniture tree stores and tile company had damage to the property. There are a number of Design Contractors who operate out of these buildings who have had their property and some of their materials destroyed as well. The man who owns all the buildings where they operated. They spoke last night about the devastating loss. Oh, my god, this is so crazy. I carnage what it is going to take to put all the businesses back together. It was advice able from the offshore freeway. Traffic came to a crawl to watch the flames much no one was injured in the fire. They did knock out power to 1500 at one point. Pg e said there are six businesses in the east berkeley area without power and it is supposed to be restored by one in the afternoon. Coming up the next mornings on two, he could be here in the next hour to hour and a half. We will talk about the challenge the firefighters face putting out the fire last night because of the fire hydrants in the area. Allie rasmus, channel 2 news. Allie mentioned the interstate. Train service, that was also affected and briefly halted during that firefight. New this morning. San jose firefighters had to use the jaws of life to rescue two people trapped inside a car. Firefighters say it crashed into a tree on sun crest avenue shortly after 1 00 this morning. It took firefighters a full 30 minutes to rescue the two people that were trapped. They are expected to be okay. New report shows caltrans was warned that some of the wells on the new span of the bridge could crack prematurely. Sections of the deck made in china did not fit precisely together when they were brought over to the u. S. , they report they allowed engineers to meet lower standards and welded the decks together. They werent worried about kata staff fick failure but they would have to make sooner than expected repairs and that it could be damaged in an earthquake. And this may in fact, be an accident. The body was found after they received a tip from a man who recognized her from surveillance photos. People are told to boil water before drinking it at least for the next few days. Problem started friday night. Water main burst on pine and wood lanes. Water started gushing up from underneath the road. The water is running again but a boil advisory is still in effect. It will be probably tuesday when we will notify all of our customers that the boil order is lifted. It is just a precaution until crews can take a sample to be analyzed. South San Francisco police are looking for a two men who robbed a woman. She was walking on the centennial way trail. One of the men tried to grab her purse. When she struggled, the other hit her in the face with a handgun. They were last seen running through the parking lot. They were leaving the station and asked to be on alert. Anyone with information is asked to call police. Antioch Jewelry Store is open again for business after it left a robber dead and a customer injured. They walked into the Jewelry Store friday afternoon. One of them shot and wounded a customer. Then one of the owners shot and killed one of the robbers. San jose police are investigating a shooting that happened a few blocks from where two men were stabbed. It happened last night before 8 00 at south king road and san antonio street. He is being treated for his injuries. Now, the stabbing happened near the golf course friday night. So far, no suspect information for either incident. Reporter the berkeley Fire Department has had a crew on the scene all night since this fire started and all throughout Early Morning hours. A ladder truck came out to the scene a short time ago to shoot water on to the top of this warehouse that burned last night. Theyll use that ladder truck to watch pore hot spots and also to take some overhead pick tiewfers whats left of the structure. Here to tell us more is the  berkeley fire chief. This was a six alarm fire. It was a massive undertaking. Thats correct. It was a five alarm fire that came in at 7 54 p. M. Last night. Initial reports had fire coming from 1823 eastshore. When crews got on scene, they saw rapidly changing fire conditions as well as power lines that were dropping across fire apparatus hampering the efforts of the firefighters. We asked for Additional Resources throughout the county and the firefighters made a great stop and kept the fire to the building of origin. The power lines was one of the chalz you faced. Talk about other challenges. Not only did we have power lines that came across our fire apparatus. We needed east bay mud to boost up the water pressure. We have a very large 30,000 square foot building that we had to work on multiple sites. We had exposures to other adjacent buildings all the way around. So there was the job of protecting the other buildings. No one was injured. So thats good news. What has to happen here today . So today we still have crews working to put out hot spots. Were still seeing small smoldering spots that were putting out. Were bringing in fire investigators and our building inspectors to assist with assessing the Structural Integrity of the building so we can get our fire investigators inside. Is there a theft building possibly collapsing . Well, the entire roof is gone. Its a trussed roof. The sides of the building are being held up by beams. The city of boston is preparing to mark one year since two bombs went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The city is now ramping up security to make sure it does not happen again this year. Officials say it will also be safer, hundreds of new cameras, futuristic security up links and a new level of coordination between federal, state and local officials, all coming together to make this years marathon as safe as it can be. All the major command centers will be looking in real time at the same information for situational awareness. The city also preparing for an official ceremony honoring the victims of last years bombing. That will take place on tuesday. There are a number of smaller memorials already taking place. In medford a peace garden is being built. It is something that helps in a healing process. Were also here to celebrate life. Police say they wont be allowing backpacks near the start or finish line this year. About 300 runners will hit the pavement in mill valley this morning in remembrance of last years Boston Marathon victims. The 2. 6mile run will kick off in 45 minutes on shoreline highway. Organizers say some of the participants were running the Boston Marathon when the bombing happened. Anyone who comes out to the run is asked to bring donations for the San Francisco marin food bank. Security is being stepped up at one World Trade Center new york after several recent security breaches. The latest happened this past week. At man who had an interview for a job at the site walked through an open gate and got past a Security Guard. Last month a 16yearold boy was arrested for trespassing. For the it first time Lance Armstrong is naming people he says knew he was using performance enhancing drugs inform written testimony he admitted that his trainer, team doctors and team manager were all involved. The woman says she came home and found five bears inside her garage it digging through a trash bin. The woman says one was bears pounced on her and dragged her out of the garage. She was able to escape. Officials are now looking into her claims. More funerals are being held for victims of a deadly landslide in Washington State. Yesterday was three weeks since the disaster that killed 36 people. Ten people are still missing. Rescue crews say with debris 70 feet deep covering some areas, Recovery Efforts are difficult. President obama says he is planning to visit the disaster area on april 22. Teams from fema are at the site of the landslide to offer help for survivors. Field offices are open. The since includes temporary housing, assistance for Small Businesses and counseling. Fema says more than 400 people have registered for federal aid with more than 150 of those visiting the help centers in person. A photo of three young girls battling cancer has gone viral.
