It looks like several people have stopped to help this man whose car was in the water. Its an elderly male. And the father went in to get him out. He got in trouble too as well. And a local surfer, and one of our firefighters was able to assist the nephew out of the water and he was able to pull the father out of the water and where our units did cpr and revived him and transported him to the hospital. The tsa says the magazine used a stock photo theyre not aware of any specific threat aimed at sfo. Theyre reacting to possible tram threat, the picture is troubling and its a reminder about a continuing threat of a terror attack. Passengers are asked to be very alert and aware. If people come on bart and theyre on that tram and its something that i use personally seeing that photo, its the same for every american, if theyre at a big airport, the threat is still real. Federal Officials Say they dont know of any specific threats aimed at sfo, the hearing was held as we approach the one Year Anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings and the pga attack and pg and e revealed theyre going to make a big announcement about that case later today pg e will offer a reward for information in that attack. More than a dozen transformers were damned last april after a shooter shot for 20 minutes. They called it the most significant incident of terrorism involving the power grid. This dont think its the work of terrorists still no arrests have been made. A man was hit and killed in a crosswalk, its reopened to traffic. It happened on heelsburg avenue near murphy avenue. It was closed in both directions while the accident scene was cleared. It opened around 10 last night. Police say the driver is cooperating and there are no indications that alcohol or drugs were a factor. The accident happened just several hundred feet from the site of another crash in a crosswalk that left the 16year old with serious brain injuries in 2009. Family members of that victim suped the city of sebastopol and caltran and that trial is set to go next month. A tragic shooting in oakland ripped families apart. Five were injured and two were killed. This happened back in 2011, a shooting at a nightclub. One of the killers will be sentenced just hours from now. Reporter the hearing is scheduled for 9 30 this morning. It still remains very difficult for them. After all their lives have been shattered by what happened. We spoke with one family who says they garnered strength from the trauma, what happened that they forgive and hold no anger for the men responsible. One of the men who is going to be sentenced today is lamar fox. He returns to oakland at 9 30 to face sentencing. Both fox and tomkins faced counts of murder. One was sentenced for life sentence without parole. They were targeting rival gang members and their shots missed and five victims were shot and two were killed. One of the victims killed was 26yearold Billy Jenkins a young father who had big plans to take care of his girlfriend and daughter. She finished preschool and she says she misses her dad a lot. I did the i love you daddy, i knew if he was here, he would be front and center. His girlfriend says she for gives the man responsible. There is no anger. The trauma of what happened has given her strength and shes prepared for todays sentencing. She started a foundation, in my fathers hands to tell other Single Parents who have lost spouses to violence. 7 38 were following breaking news from South San Francisco, a car has crashed into the water near candlestick part. This was an elderly gentleman, the only person inside that car. He was driving north on 1301 just south of the candlestick exit when he lost control of that car for some reason, hit the Center Divide and then veered off the road. I want to bring in now, officer ramirez with the california highway patrol. Why do you think this gentleman left of the roadway and win into the water. We got a call early 7 00 a. M. And there are reasons unknown were investigating. We got a call that he was driving northbound and he was unable to maintain his lane and for reasons, being investigated he ended up in the water just over here. Hes at San Francisco general, how is he doing . We dont know that. Our main mission was to get him to the hospital and now, we are to get the vehicle out of the water and get him to the hospital. You were to get him out of the water . The Fire Department they were able to help us assist getting him out of the vehicle. He was the sole occupant. Were going to investigate the collision thoroughly. There was the possibility that there was some sort of a medical emergency that caused him to leave the road . Its possible that it was a medical emergency. The chp are still investigating and there are no lanes blocked. We should point out on northbound 101 again, this is south of the candlestick exit here. Theres quite a bit of traffic out on the scene of the road. Theyre slowing down just a bit. An elderly gentleman, the tow truck, we were going to have to remove this car. The School Closed it down earlier this week. The construction crew found signs of mold. A consultant hired by the School District made a full inspection of the locker rooms. They made an inspection in a day or two if mold is not found. Theres a press conference going on involving the stabbing yesterday at a high school in pittsburgh. We understand that some of the doctors at the Pittsburgh High School there are five students in critical condition. One had surgery overnight and in very critical condition, a student suffered a stab wound that missed his heart by millimeters and stabbed his liver. He stabbed all the victims, doesnt know the victims. He did not appreciate the gravity of the actions and his parents are horrified by the attack. Two ordinary kitchen knives were used. Hes being held without bail being charged as an adult. We also understand that the school where the stabbings happened is no longer being treated as a crime scene. It will be closed though today and tomorrow and school will resume at that scene where the stabbing happened yesterday. School will be resummon monday. A teenage boy swept out to sea at the ocean beach. We are getting new information from search and rescue crews on the scene. Ask. Everyone including the baby are doing okay. The team started a mission a week ago to save the sick one yearold baby on a 36 yearly sailboat. They made a distress call after the boat lost its steering and took on water. They blogged about the adventure but now that theyre home theyre not saying anything except for a tweet thanking their rescuers. They are saying words cannot express their appreciation. They are hoping to get help from a 62yearold woman who keeps trying to unlawful board planes at San Francisco airport. They arrested heart man on heartman again on wednesday. This was her fifth attempt and third, arrest after being spotted at the airport. It will pick it up in intensity here and turn on that sea breeze stronger. A cooler forecast and its cooler this morning, no doubt about it. A good five to seven degrees, a lot more 40s, had including 49 in San Francisco. I think on monday it was 59, here we are a couple of days later, its 10 degrees cooler on the low. Its not heading our direction yet. Its heading towards central and southern california. It will weaken as it does, its going to give us a pretty pronounced cooling trend going the next few days here. The traffic has been on the slow side down from richmond. The traffic has been slow approaching the bay bridge toll plaza. Were backed up for a 20minute delay. There was an accident on the bridge and there was a vehicle stuck and it has been removed. 101 is the busiest freeway. 85 is not all that bad, but its not great either. In the saratoga, we have a crash on northbound 101 on the peninsula near brisby, lets go back to the desk. South, were following breaking news. A char has crashed into the water near Candlestick Park. Alex savage is at the scene near northbound 101. This is causing a major traffic jam for drivers into the city. Reporter yes a significant backup on northbound 101 south of the Candlestick Park exit and this is the reason why behind us here. This is the red toyota camry. It was just pulled from the waters of the bay by a tow truck crew. They just managed to pull this car out of the water where it had been for the last hour or so. The elderly driver had a medical emergency this morning. Driving north on the freeway, he veered right into the bay. This crash was at 6 45, the driver lost control hit a pole on the side of the freeway and went into the water. The good news in all of this, that water is at San Francisco General Hospital right now, he has only minor injuries after this dramatic crash. A short time ago a chp officer talked about the rescue effort. Essentially, the Fire Department, they were able to help us assist getting him out of the vehicle. They had to hookup the car and pull it from the bay. It was an unusual tow job this morning after this crash. The driver hes okay. He was checked out or is being checked out at San Francisco General Hospital with minor injuries. Hes an elderly gentleman from mountain view. Theyre doing a full investigation. They believe that this driver had a medical emergency possibly went into a diabetic shock and thats what caused him to lose control this morning and drive right into the waters of the bay. Time is 8 05, a desperate coast guard search going on to try to find a missing 14year old boy who was carried away about i rip currents at ocean beach in San Francisco. Theyre looking for 14yearold march cosince about 4 00 yesterday afternoon. He was out there playing in the water when a rip current pulled him out to sea. The coast guard is still patrolling the waters from this area to the Golden Gate Bridge. If its not too foggy theyll send a helicopter out to cover a wider area. Im covering search and rescue at this time. The kid could be stranded on the beach somewhere or landed on a rock. Until we can confirm this is not the case its a search and rescue. That rip current pulled in his cousin and his father. They jumped into the water trying to save him, but the 17 yearold surfer saw all the trouble and pulled the cousin and the father to safety. While the cousin should be okay. The father were told is in critical condition. Coming up in our next halfhour well bring you a live report from out there at ocean beach while that search continues this morning. Caltrans crews finished pothole repairs on the bay bridge. That caused one of are the recent late night traffic jams in recent history. This it was the scene as drivers in San Francisco tried to get on the lower deck. Some people say it took two hours on to the bridge. They shut down three eastbound lanes and two westbound lanes. Traffic in both directions just stopped because of concerns of debris from the upper deck was falling on to the lower deck. The traffic was backed up for miles during the entire Emergency Repair project. The work began at 7 00 and it went on well past midnight. It is National Crime victims week and authorities in the south bay are using a new time to help solve crimes, we have information live to reach out to the public. This focuses on a student who was last scene at the bus stop in sunnyvale in september of 1992h her nude body was found stabbed 60 times near a restaurant. The examiner reports at least 12 bobcats have died after eating rodents that ate the poise and many more have been sickened. The ban on rat poison goes into effect july 1st. It was slow, and northbound 101 backed up north of south city. This was quite a scene as people from both sides were looking at this crash and you can see they were towing it out and water in the car. This is not good for the car and also not good for the driver who is at San Francisco General Hospital with moderate to minor injuries. This is video of animal control capturing the four foot crocodile yesterday. He was not happy to be captured. It escaped a container that was set outside of a reptile business. The search is intensifying, now, for a boy who got caught in a rip current on the beach. In the water and in the air theyve been looking for march co. Its too foggy for the coast guard to fly the helicopter. They have a rescue boat in addition to the cutter search. Both of those boats are actually doing patrols from the Golden Gate Bridge down to the lake marcette area. 14yearold march cowent missing around 4 00 yesterday afternoon. He as his cousins were playing kneedeep had they were swept out to sea by a rip current. His father went out to help and he got caught in the current. And a surfer paddled over and pulled the father and his cousin to show. We are hoping he washed up to shore and he might be injured on the beach or something, we can pick him up alive. We want to find him and bring him back to his family. The surfer is tony, and his father is a San Francisco fire captain. Hes being hailed as a hero. As for the two people that were rescued. The cousin is fine, but the father is in critical condition. That was as of last night. We asked the Fire Department if this is considered a rescue mission or if its a recovery effort. If it is still a search and rescue theyre going to be out here until they found march co. Im tear a moreiatory. More, now, about rip currents, they happen around the west coast, the waves can move up to 8 feet a second. Thats faster than an olympic swimmer. They rescue thousands of people from rip currents, but about 100 people a year die in the rip currents. They can be hard to spot but here are things lifeguards say you should watch out for. A channel of churning choppy water. An area of noticeably different colored water. A line of foam or debris moving out to sea, and also a break income the incoming wave pattern. If you see any of these things, be real careful going into water or fiend some place else to swim. 8 35, the they are investigating a photo in the al qaeda magazine. More than a dozen transformers were damaged after a shooter fired at a structure for 20 minutes. Part of highway 116 in sebastopol is open again after a man was hit and killed in the crosswalk. It happened on heelsburg avenue near murphy avenue. It was closed in both directions while the accident scene was cleared. It did reopen about 10 00 last night. The driver involved is cooperating and there are no indications that alcohol or drugs were involved. The press reports that the accident happened just several hundred feet from a 2009 crash of a crosswalk that left a 16 yearold with serious brain injuries. The family of that victim sued the city and the driver and caltrans. Prosecutors have chosed Jose Martinez with nine contract killings in central california. But, martinez claims he killed more than 40 people since 1980 working as an enforcer for a mexican drug cartel. Investigators say they have evidence indicating hes telling the truth. Its 8 38. Reporter good morning, its scheduled to begin around 9 30 this morning. We spoke with parks who is the girlfriend who was at a nightclub and she says her life has been shattered by what happens. She holds no anger to the men responsible. Well show one of the pictures of the man responsible. He could face life in prison when he returns to face a judge this morning. Prosecutors say both fox and tompkins fired guns near the nightclub and that nightclub has since closed. Those are convicted on five counts of firstdegree murder and attempted murder. On easter weekend fox and tomkins were targeting local gang members and their shots missed. Two members were killed, none of them were any gang. The young father had big plans to take care of his girlfriend and the daughter they had together. Billy just finished preschool and she tells us she misses her dad quite a bit. It makes it hard because i think of daddy. I did the i love you daddy on her cap because he if he was here, would he be front and center. She for gives the men responsible and theres no angry. She started a foundation in my fathers hands. She said the trauma of what happened has given her strength. It will be given today during a sentencing hearing and given to her at 9 30 this morning. The video shows a Police Officer handling a situation at the giants home opener on tuesday. The cellphone video was taken by a man who was walking through the concessionaire i cant and saw the confrontation of a Police Officer and a giants fan and its gone viral on social media. Its not documented on video, cops have their ways dealing with things. It seems excessive. Its just al small segment of time, window didnt see what happened before or after. Im sure that theyre going to look into it. The San Francisco Police Department called the actions of the officer appropriate. The giants fan was able to get up and walk out on his own. He was not arrested, but he and his friends, we understand were kicked out of the ballpark accused of shouting profanities in the crowd and being unruly. And they say we need to conduct ourselves because we are on camera because most likely we are. Thats very true. Even for us on tv, when were away from work we might still be on camera. Always. The toll toll this is a toll plaza, the drive time on the peninsula has been elevated on northbound 101 and thats because of an earlier incident of a car into the water, i would suggest 280 northbound, it will be slow in San Francisco but it might be better at this point than 1301. Our forecast models say, fog and cool this morning. The fog or some fog heading back to the coast. Mostly sunny this afternoon. 50s to low 80s, a lot of 40s this morning. Temperatures beginning to warm up. A little cool on some of here, were 75 degrees this morning. We had a lot of mid to upper 50s for some. A lot of tropical clouds, everything is heading towards central to southern california. It will continue to pick up that fog bank. Dont expect it to move over us, High Pressure system is losing its grip, it will hold on for one more day for warm temperatures. Its coming down a little bit. More low clouds, cooler inland, there could be high clouds, there will be drizzle on the coast, sfo, San Francisco and up to the north bay. It will ramp up that fog bank and it extended inland. Theyve detected a new under water signal. The signal came from some man made object. They picked up signals tuesday and last weekend. The black box, if it is the black box, may be running out of batteries very soon. Malaysian Authorities Say when the plane first veered off course it dipped down to 4,000 feet possibly to avoid being detected by radar. Theyre confirming it came from the head pilot, the last communication. There was a chase and they rammed a Police Cruiser and threatened a family. When they tried to make a traffic stop on highway 37, the driver took off going more than 09 Miles Per Hour on several free ways before the chase ended in the shopping center. Police say they were forced to shoot when the suspect rammed a Police Cruiser then floored the suv in the direction of a family waiting at a drive through window. It would have come straight for him and who knows what could have happened if the officers not take immediate action. Police are still trying to identify the suspect who did not have any id on him. We contacted the city Fire Department. The two firefighters hurt yesterday morning when two fire trucks crashed into each other as they rushed to a house fire, theyre in good shape this morning. This happened near crocker avenue. The firefighters suffered bumps and bruises. Those two firefighters are popular members of their community. My heart is broken because theyre my friends. Theyre investigating the cause of that crash. A new dmv office is opening in san jose. It will help undocumented immigrants apply for drivers licenses. Its one of four being open statewide. They hope to get her in touch with social services. She claims she has cancer and wants to go some place warm. They want to send her to hawaii legally.
