New this morning, fire investigators are on the scene of a house fire in Mountain View. It sent flames through the home. We are live in the neighborhood with a look at some of the damage. Katie . Farther south areas like santa cruz waking up mostly sunny but i think that the low clouds and the fog will be Holding Close to the coast for today because the onshore breeze is going to be strengthening for the afternoon as well. This transition will lead to a change in the workweek ahead. New this morning the cause of a fire in Mountain View is under investigation. The fire sent flames blowing through the roof of a home early this morning and katie utehs is live for us in that neighborhood with what investigators are saying about the fire. Katie. Reporter investigators tell me they expect to be on scene all day today and they are even unloading more equipment as we speak to help in that investigation. Let me show you the extent of the damage. You can see roof is entirely gone on this house, almost entirely gone. And it appears that the right corner of the house is where the fire started, possibly in a bedroom. A man driving friends home around 2 00 this morning noticed the flames about a half block away. He took this cell phone video after calling 911 and alerting neighbors in the 1700 block of fordham way. The flames were really small in the beginning and really picked up the pace after like five minutes, it was a huge fire, huge fire. Reporter when the first fire crews arrived, they called a second alarm and took about half an hour to knock down the flames. I want to show you the extent of the damage as seen from the mass camera on our live truck. The home is not a total loss but about 2 3 of the house is gone. Much of the roofline up until about the garage. We are told the family has been contacted about the fire. They are traveling on vacation at this point. Since nobody was home at the time of the fire, police are securing the scene until investigators can determine a cause. At this point they have been in the home for several hours taking photographs, documenting the scene and they said they have just brought in more equipment to aid with that investigation. A group of volunteers went looking for her yesterday. It was the largest turnouts in some time and even though sierras body has not been found, prosecutors have charged 22yearold Antolin Garcia torrez with kidnapping and murder. He pled guilty last month. And lamars friends and family remembered her this morning by dedicating a bench in her honor. It wraps around a tree at Washington High School and fremont. Thats where sierra spent her freshman and part of her sophomore years before moving to the morgan hill area. There is a plastic bag on the bench that plaque on the bench that reads in part dedicated to sierra lamar and the memory of all missing children. The ceremony begins in two hours. We are following developing news in the killing of a Castro Valley mother. An arrest warrant now been issued for her husband, sheriffs deputies say feng mi is now a suspect in the killing of his wife. He has not been seen since his wifes body was discovered. Deputies say mi should be considered armed and dangerous. He does have two registered weapons but only one is accounted for. The couples two children are in protective custody. Their 14yearold daughter found her mothers body when she arrived home from school on friday. She did not know it was her mother at the time. She didnt say my mom is dead. She said theres a lady dead in my house. Deputies say officers have responded to several Domestic Violence calls in the past few years at that home. Here is a look at 46yearold feng mi. Police believe he is driving a 2013 silver rav 4. A statewide amber alert issued for four Young Children believed to be taken by their parents in los angeles. The children two boys ages five and seven and twin 1yearold girls. Investigators say their parents Enrique Felix and rosa chairez took the children from their grandparents home friday afternoon. The grandparents have legal custody of the children because the childrens father has a history of Domestic Violence. They went to the residence of the grandmother and they forcibly took the children and left the location. Police say the parents were only allowed to see the children during supervised visits. Police say the family may be in a dark chrysler pt cruiser, possibly gray or purple with paper license plates and a missing right rear hubcap. Santa rosa police say a crash that killed two people may have been caused by a distracted driver. It happened last night at about 5 20 on highway 12 just west of farmers lane. Police say two vehicles were involved. They say the driver of the pickup truck admitted he was looking at his cell phone when he hit the toyota. Police say he was going about 65 miles an hour and that the toyota had been stopped. Two women in the back of that toyota died. Two men in the front were transported to the hospital. Police have not said what charges the pickup driver could face. This morning investigators have renewed their focus on the pilots of a missing malaysian flight after confirming the plane deliberately veered off course. Authorities say they found a Flight Simulator in the home of the planes pilot and they are also taken a deeper look at the engineers and crew members who had access to that plane. The new developments have greatly expanded the search area for that plane. It now stretches from thailand to im sorry. I cant say that 20 nations are now involved in the search. Nine current law prohibits landslides from raising landlords from raising rents. The council is considering rules tightening that loophole. The council will also consider a proposal allowing leashed dogs on several parks including snow park, pine knoll and the rock ridge greenbelt. A dog who survived a near death experience is about to become a marines best friend. This 1yearold dog named thor was found on the street by a florida animal rescuer. She says he had been doused with gasoline and then set on fire and now a local Charity Wants to take him in. The Group Matches dogs with wounded veterans.
