New this morning, San Jose State Police is investigating two cases of Sexual Battery. Ktvus allie rasmus is live for us this morning on campus and tells us that theres a warning that has been sent out to students. Reporter University Police on the san jose campus are investigating two incidents of Sexual Battery. Both happened on the campus yesterday. The first incident happened around 7 00 near where we are, this is the campus event and recreation center. Police say a man riding his bicycle came up behind a female student and groped her. Two hours later the man struck again, this time near the 8th 8th street and hoover hall dormitory area. Another student walking in that area around 9 20 told police she was also touched inappropriately by a man on a bike who had been following her. Now here is a description of the suspect. Hes described as being 20 to 30 years old wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He also has a mustache and of course was riding a bicycle. He was last seen on the bike heading towards the campusville Village Apartments around 9 30 last night. The two students were not injured in this incident, but they did report it to police and again, police are asking for the publics help trying to find the person responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call University Police. A little later on on mornings on 2 were hoping to get an update from University Police and some of the students about this warning that went out last night. Live in san jose, allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. San Jose Police Department is investigating an Early Morning homicide. It happened shortly after 1 00 on sun crest avenue in east san jose. When they arrived they found a man who had been stabbed once. He later died at the hospital. No arrests have been made. New this morning, police have just identified the gunman in a deadly mall shooting in maryland. Hes years old and from college hes 19 years old and from college park maryland. The shooter was dropped off at the mall in a cab an hour before the shooting. As molly headenberg reports, investigates dont know why he opened fire. Police looking far motive after a man fired shots with a shotgun in a crowded mall in columbia maryland, a suburb between washington and baltimore. We were able to get officers on scene within 2 minutes. Based on our past training and experiences, those officers got into the mall very quickly. They were able to locate three people deceased. Five others were wounded and taken to a local hospital. Theyve since been released. Eyewitnesses describing a terrifying scene as the gunman opened fire. I thought i heard something fall. It sounded like brick. All of a sudden i saw people fall. Three people that were shot fall, so everybody ducked to the ground. I heard more than ten shots. What was going through your head . Protect them kids. They were just so little, and one was a newborn. Just protect the kids. The two victims, 21yearold breanna benlolo and tyler johns were employees of a skate shop on the upper level of the mall. The shooter has not been identified and police dont know if he had a connection to the victims. They found large amounts of ammunition on his body so theyre not taking any chances sending a robot into the mall to check for explosives. County officials crediting First Responders and the public for their help in minimizing the tragedy. Were an incredibly strong, Caring Community and the outpouring of love and compassion that ive seen today through tragedy really warms my heart. Police say theyre also flying in an explosives sniffing dog from ocean city maryland to help in the final efforts to clear the mall and reopen at some point in the future. She was an assistant manager at the skate shop where the shootings took place and had been working there since 2010. 25yearold Tyler Johnson had been working at the store for about three months. The shooting happened during a probation search inside a dublin apartment. The report says the apartments unusual circular layout and the two entrances to the bathroom were contributing factors. Michaels arts and crafts could be the latest major retailer to be targeted by hackers. In a letter on the companys web site, the ceo says the breach is being investigated but urges customers in the meantime to check their Financial Statements for fraudulent charges. Some tech analysts are saying the incident could be very similar to the Security Breach at target over the holidays. That data was somehow being collected with one of these tools that these bad guys are using now to collect this data and then resell that data to other people who then, you know, take over your identity, make false charges, et cetera. As we get into thursday morning were going to start out it looks like mostly cloudy and dry. As we get into thursday afternoon notice the possibility of rain beginning to move into the bay area. Were looking at the possibility of two days, thursday and friday of being wet and theyre going to be cooler days as well. Going to finally feel like winter. Some scientists are concerned that californias current dry spell could be whats called a megadrought. The megadroughts last for two decades or longer and Scientists Say megadroughts in the middle ages sometimes lasted more than 200 years. They also say historically the last century was a particularly wet one. The longest droughts of the 20 20th century happened from 1987 to 1992 and from 1928 to 18934. These photos from space show us just how dry its been. Mount shasta was covered in snow in november. Scientists say the snow cover normally peaks by april 1st. The ski slopes have been closed most of this month because of that lack of snow. And the warm Winter Weather is causing allergy season to get an early start typically pollen production is most noticeable in the spring. But with the temperatures in the high 70s, tree pollens are already showing up in higher quantities. The poll pollen production will more likely continue. Allergy relief could be coming soon. A weather system that is moving into the area could bring some rain. Another search is scheduled to get underway in quebec for the victims of deadly fire at a nursing home. Ten people died in that fire, and 22 more are missing and presumed dead. Icy conditions have been hampering the search for victims. Deicing equipment has been brought in to help break up 2 feet of ice covering that fire scene. The method that were using now with regard to melting the ice is were using steam, so the steam is being used for us to be able to advance in the scene without being able to preserve the integrity of potential victims. The cause of the fire is under investigation but investigators say only some of the rooms in the Senior Center had working sprinklers. 281 people on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship are experiencing symptoms of flu. The u. S. Centers for Disease Control and prevention said many of the passengers are reporting vomiting and diarrhea. Health officials plan on boarding the ship today while its docked in the u. S. Virgin islanded. Theyll collect specimens to try to find out whats causing the illness. 4200 people are aboard. New numbers show marin county had the second highest rate of whooping coughing cases. There were 170 cases in the county in 2013. The highest rate was in nevada county. The report also says california as a whole saw an increase in whooping cough cases among children last year. Police say a man rode his bike behind the victims and then touched them inappropriately. None of the victims were injured. A Maryland Mall will remain closed as Police Continue to investigate a deadly shooting. Three people including the gunman were killed in the shooting at Columbia Mall near baltimore. Police say they still do not know the motive. The victims have been identified as 21yearold breanna benalo who worked as an assistant manager in the skate shop where shots were fired and 25yearold Tyler Johnson who also worked at the store. Later today a Memorial Service will be held in san jose for a 14yearold girl hit and killed by a vta light rail train. Yesterday they said the shooting was a tragic mistake and fear tolliver could get into a deadly confrontation with police unless he turns himself in. The Highway Patrol says it appears the driver of a toyota rav4 crossed over the double yellow line and slammed into a lincoln navigator. The 30yearold woman driving the toyota was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A boy and girl in the backseat of the lincoln were airlifted to Childrens Hospital in oakland as a precaution. Their injuries are said to be minor. Investigators say the Mountain View man who was killed while boogie boarding along the santa cruz coast had been warned of the danger. These photos were taken as rescuers tried to save 47year old james zank. He was critically hurt when waves sent him crashing into the rocks near the santa cruz light house. Lifeguards warned sank to move out of the high tide and rough waters but they say he told them he was fine. San Francisco Police have killed a dog that belonged to a homeless man. The shooting happened yesterday. Officers say they were searching vacant apartments when the dog attacked an officer. The officer who fired the weapon did not shoot until the dog was right on top of him. Some neighbors say the dog was dangerous while others say he was quiet friendly. I played with him all the time. Thats a beautiful view over the bay area. The sun is up and we will begin to see those clouds clear as we get through the second half of your mornings and into the afternoon. I want to show you here a 12 hour time lapse on the clouds here and its because we are so cool in some areas this morning. I wanted to show you that we were mostly clear getting into the evening hours. It took until about 2, 3 00 in the morning before these clouds began to fill in. And so this is why many of us waking up a lot chillier than yesterday. Some areas all the way into 30. Well get a look at those numbers in just a moment. This is the system that continues to send us those clouds. That will be the case for today. Even a few scattered showers you can see off the coast here along the Central Coast and south coast, this is going to be pushing south and east. Were not going to see any rain out of this. They apparently involve a man riding a bike and groping female students as he passes by. The first incident happened around 7 00 yesterday evening close to where we are. Behind us is the events and recreation center. Yesterday a female student reported to police she was walking in the area when a man on a bike followed her, rode up from behind and touched her inappropriately. Two and a half hours later, the man apparently struck again, a student walking near the hoover hall dorm and 8th street on the san jose state campus told police she was also touched inappropriately by a man on a bike following her. Students we talked to say they received email and text alerts from the University Police about the incident. One student who lives near hoover dorm says shes taking extra precaution. It was really scary. I cant even walk around my campus freely without being concerned. Yeah, without feeling terrified that someones going to touch me. How did you hear about it . Heres the description of the suspect. Hes described as being 20 to 30 years old. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He also has a mustache and of course riding a bicycle. He was last seen on that bike heading towards the campus Village Apartments thats very close to the campus, the main campus area. This is around 9 30 last night the last time he was seen. Police are urging anyone with information or who may have seen this individual to give them a call. They stress people can also leave anonymous tips to the part. And im mike mibach. This morning the San Jose State Police department is investigates two cases of Sexual Battery. Allie rasmus is live on campus. A warning has been sent out to students . Reporter thats right. Students we talked to this morning say they received e mail and text alerts from the University Police last night detailing these two incidents and Campus Police are investigating these two cases as cases of Sexual Battery. They apparently involve a man riding a bike on campus and touching students, female students inappropriately. The first incident happened around 7 00 last night near the student recreation and event center. Lets show you the video of this area. Were talking about right behind us. A female student reported to police a man on a bike followed her, then rode up from behind and touched her inappropriately. About two and a half hours later the man apparently struck again. A student walking near the hoover hall dorm and 8th 8th street told police she was also touched inappropriately by a man on a bike who had been following her. Studentstudents we spoke to say they are taking extra precautions. You think its safe because its a school, but these things just happen anyway. Heres the description of the suspect. Hes described as being 20 to 30 years old wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He also has a mustache and is of course riding a bicycle. He was last seen on that bike heading towards the campus Village Apartments thats near the san jose state campus around 9 30 in the evening. Now the students we talked to say they were a little confused about how exactly man on a bike could grope students as he passed by. The father of a 14yearold boy accused of killing his 17yearold sister is pleading for his son to surrender. Family members of Mario Tolliver junior gathered to pray. They say the shooting was a tragic mistake and theyre worried tolliver could get into a deadly confrontation with police unless he turns himself in. It dont have nothing to do with no bleached clothes or none of that. It was just kids arguing. Police say tolliver shot his sister justice thursday at their grandmothers apartment in oaklands chinatown neighborhood. Oakland police are offering a 10,000 award for information leading to tollivers arrest. The tolliver family is raising money to help pay for justices funeral. A Good Samaritan has donated funds for her plot. Three people including two children are recovering this morning after a headon crash near brentwood. That accident happened yesterday afternoon on a curve on marsh creek road. Highway patrol says it appears the driver of a toyota rev4 crossed over a double yellow line and slammed into the lincoln navigator. The 30yearold woman driving the toyota was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A boy and girl in the backseat of the lincoln were airlifted to Childrens Hospital in oakland as a precaution. Their injuries were said to be minor. San Francisco Police have killed a dog that belong today a homeless man. That shooting happened yesterday. Officers say they were searching vacant apartments when the dog attacked an officer. Police say the officer who fired the weapon did not shoot until the dog was right on top of them. The principal at Carlmont High School in belmont has confirmed with ktvu just 30 minutes agatha 19yearold suspect Vladislav Miftakhov graduated from carlmont last year. I never thought he would take it to extremes like this, that he would be in jail facing criminal charges for weapons of mass destruction. New this morning, we are learning about a deadly mall shooting in maryland. Police say the gunman was 19 from college park maryland. He was dropped off in a taxi about an hour before yesterdays shooting at the Columbia Mall near baltimore. But they still dont have a motive. We dedicate ourselves to, you know, making the world a better place. Do something nice for someone. Were better than this, and we have an incredibly strong resilient wonderful community. Three people including the gunman were killed. Police have not said what relationship the shooter had with the two victims who worked at a skate shop in the mall. Michaels arts and crafts is the latest to be targeted by hackers. In a letter, the ceo says the possible breach is being investigated but urges customers in the meantime to check Financial Statements for fraudulent charges. Some tech analysts are saying the incident could be similar to a Security Breach at target over the holidays. That data was being collected with one of these tools the bad guys are using to collect the data and reselling the day to to people who take over your identity, make falls charges, et cetera. The san Jose Police Department is investigating two cases of Sexual Battery. Allie rasmus is live for us this morning there on campus, and tells us a warning has been sent out to students there. Reporter thats right. Students got that warning by e mail and text alert from University Police describing the two cases of Sexual Battery they are investigating. I talked to a sergeant with University Police about 30 minutes ago, and he says even though the circumstances around these cases are unusual, he says quite simply this is a case of a man on a bike riding around on campus and groping female students as he passes by. The first incident happened yesterday evening around 7 00 near the Events Center on campus. A female student reported to police and a man on a bike followed her for a bit, and road up from behind and touched her inappropriately. About 2 1 2 hours later, around 9 30, the man struck again. A student walking near the hoover hall dorm and 8th 8th street told police she was touched inappropriately by a man on a bike who had been following her. Students we spoke to this morning say they are taking extra precautions and some are going to try to i a void Walking Around campus at night. Its kind of scary because sometimes you stay here later around nine or so to study and whatnot. And its kind of creepy because its nighttime and you dont know whats going to happen. The wreck happened yesterday on a curve on marsh creek road. It appears the driver of a toyota rav4 crossed over the double yellow line and slammed into a lincoln navigator. A boy and girl in the back of the lincoln were air lifted to a hospital in oakland as a precaution, but their injuries at last check are said to be minor. Investigators say the Mountain View man who was killed while boogie boarded along the santa cruz coast had been warned of the danger. Those are the rescuers as they tried to save james zank. He was critically injured when the waves sent him crashing into the santa cruz lighthouse. They warned to move out of the high tide and the rough waters, but they say he told them that he was fine. The former Little League coach who made National Headlines for suing a 14year old player is offering to drop the lawsuit. Alan beck filed the lawsuit claiming he had been injured by the player. They were searching vacant apartments when the dog attacked an officer. Police say the officer who fired the weapon didnt shoot until the dog was right on top of him. Another search is scheduled to get under way for victims of a fire in a nursing home. 10 people died and 20 more are missing and presumed dead. Deicing equipment has been brought in to help break up two feet of ice covering that fire scene. The method that were using now with regard to melting the ice is were using steam. Both incidents happened last night. Police say a man road his bicycle behind the victims and touched them inappropriately. None of the victims were injured. We are learning more about a deadly shooting at a mall in columbia maryland this morning. The gunman is 19 and from maryland. It is still unclear whether he knew the two employees of the skate shop who were killed in the shooting. The gunman also died in that shooting. A vacaville pastor whos accused of fire bombing a home of an exgirlfriend is back behind bars. Authorities have arrested mark lewis of the Fellowship Baptist Church. 2 1 2 weeks ago, lewis and three Homeless People put off a molotov cocktail at his exs home, and he posted a half Million Dollars bail. And hes accused of faults few with another churchs Tax Information as collateral. A tax id number from a larger Conglomerate International group out of missouri, none of which are associated with the local church.
