It happened just after midnight. We are live in the city of antioch with a look at the damage. Reporter pg e crews are on the scene because when this crash happened that car took out a power box and knocked out the power to this neighborhood. Here is a look at the damage. When this car came out of control it hit the side of this house you are looking at off to the left and then it rolled into the home right here next to us. Now this home has been boarded up but this is what the damage looked like earlier this morning there were people inside the homes when the crash happened. Fortunately nobody was hurt. In fact the woman who lives in one of the homes had just gotten out of the hospital. Her soninlaw said she came home hour days ago. She slept through this. I walked in, check if she was okay. I asked if she was okay. She said yeah and went back to sleep. Reporter the driver of the the driver wasnt seriously injured. Police say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors but police say it looks like excessive speed was a factor. Thats why the driver lost control of the vehicle as he was coming down the street near san jose drive. Again, taking a look we can see pg e trucks. There is a pg e truck heading out right past us. Down at the end of this intersection you can see the lights flashing at that stop light. We have a call into pg e to try to find out how many people still are without power. When we get that information we will bring it to you. Live in antioch. Ktvu channel 2news. New this morning the chp is investigating a deadly accident on highway 24 in oakland involving a pedestrian. The pedestrian was hit several by several cars and died at the scene. The chp trying to find if the person was on the freeway because his motorcycle broke down on interstate 980. Three drivers stopped and are coop cooperating. One person is in Critical Condition this morning after being hit by a car while sitting at a bus stop. It happened about 10 30 last night at 30th and mission street. Police say that a car lost control and crash into that bus stop where a person was sitting inside. That person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Police say they are questioning the driver. A Elementary Schoolteacher is facing charges on suspicious of serving her colleagues food laced with marijuana. The 47yearold is a first grade teacher at Matthew Turner elementary. Police say several of her colleagues got sick after eating food she brought to a off campus party in november. One woman had blood tests done and learned there was thc in her his stem, the active in her system. One of the people there took some of the food home and their 15yearold ate this food and became ill. Reporter police say that the woman apparently told some of the people at the party she brought food with marijuana in it. According to the times she has been a teacher in the district for 18 years. She has been put on administrative leave during the investigation. An oakland family is pleading for a 14 boy accused of killing his sister to turn himself in. He was last seen in the china town neighborhood on thursday where he allegedly shot his 17 yearold sister. Family members said that justice was shot after an argument about laundry. Now the family said they are not sure what sparked the argument and are begging the 14 yearold to come forward. He said he was sorry. He was scared. He is scared now. Think the police going to kill him. I plead for him to come home or call someone. Police say that they do consider him armed and dangerous because the weapon used in the killing has not been recovered. Anyone with information is asked to call the police. Federal regulators have approved safety changes at the hospital after a patient died in a locked stair well. The 57yearold Lynn Spaulding was found dead last october. 17 days after going missing. They the new safety plan was signed off on. The informs include daily checks of all stair wells, a bracelet check system for nurses and nurses must check patients and make sure they are accounted for. Government monitoring will continue. For this investigation it is now concluded. We are no longer deficient and our plan of correction has shown we are safer and we have a plan to become safer still. New regulations also in place for the Sheriffs Department which is responsible for security at the hospital. The state senate is Holding Hearings on claims Caltrans Pressured engineers to keep quiet about construction proproblems on the new span of the bay bridge. This is a live look a report shows caltrans found thousands of cracks in welds for the tower but replaced the managers who reported the problems. The report also claims that officials ignored warnings in 2008 that rods for the span had not been properly tested. I was specifically directed not to look in areas that i knew there were cracks. Engineers say he were told not to put their concerns in writing but the director of caltrans insists the bridge is safe and will last 150 years. I have no evidence or no reason to believe that there was any force or anything like that and bullying to make determinations. Engineers who tested say they testified said they believe the bridge is safe but the problems will result in more maintenance down the road. The man he was trying to help is in Critical Condition at the hospital a memorial is going to be held on february 10th at the Veterans Memorial building. Students students are on alert after a male student reported being kidnapped on campus and sexually assaulted. The male student said there was someone in the backseat of his car armed with a gun who ordered him to drive to mill valley. He said that is where he was assaulted a text alert was sent out yesterday to warn students. There is always people, there are cops all round the campus. Someone getting assaulted here is just nervewracking. Investigators say that the victim was able to escape and get help. Deputies say the person who did the crime is an African American man around 62, between 220 and 235 pounds. A man accused of a hate crime in 2008 has been sentenced to 31 years. Robert ortiz pleaded guilty in connection to a gang rape the victim was walking home when she was attacked by members of a street gang. Ortiz was 15 at the time. Two others have also been convicted. The old winter drought record was 46 days back in 1884. Water levels in many sacramento area lakes are at alarmingly low levels. Sacramento has directed those living and working in the city to reduce water use by 20 to 30 . The city of roseville is turning on all four of its water well pumps. This had be the First Time Ever that all four of them have run and delivered water to the customers. City Officials Say turning on all the wells could help the city cope with water issues during the drought. The wells come from an aquifier350 feet below the city. On thursday the Park Commission approved the construction contract set to begin in march. Planned improvements include renovating the basketball and tennis courts, a new irrigation system and installing new rest rooms, act half of the park will have to be closed during each part of the construction. Reporter he said that as he tried to help the dog the pit bull bit him. Grabbed my hand and started chewing it up. Reporter he took out this knife and stabbed the attacking dog in the ribs. The dog retreated and by then neighbors and the owners had pulled the dogs away. The owners of the dogs would not go on camera. They said the dogs got out by jumping over this fence. That the dogs have always been friendly, never aggressive but they do not have dog licenses. I think that the Community Awareness needs to be if you have a pet you need to realize how strong they are and the responsibility behind owning a dog. That was rob reporting. They are in the process of replacing a power block that was knocked out by this crash. Now that the sun is up we can get a better view of how this crash happened. This car was traveling eastbound just past san jose drive. It hit the median you see there. Sped across the oncoming lanes of traffic, hit that power box that you see pg e crews working to replace right now and then the car kept going. It actually struck and clipped the side garage of this green house, rolled and crashed into the white house right next door. Nobody was injured in this crash. The driver was able to walk away from it. The clean up has been underway since midnight. Pg e crews are in the process of replacing the power box. Power is out for four to five homes. This is what the scene looked like. You can see a big mess and a gaping hole in the side of one of the homes. There were people inside both of the homes when the car crashed into it but again, nobody was injured. All i heard was two woman booms, probably one when he hit the box and the other when the box blew. By the time i got out it was a crowd. We thought someone was breaking in. We walked outside and thats what we find in the front yard a car. One of those things you always ski see see on the news but not in your front yard. Reporter the soninlaw, one of the residents said his motherinlaw had surgery. She was still on her medication and he said she didnt wake up after the car crashed into her house. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say that it appears that the driver did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol. One person is in Critical Condition after being hit by a car while sitting at a bus stop. It happened about 10 30. Police say that a car lost control and crashed into a bus 1207 where one person was sitting inside. Police say that they are questioning the driver. A Elementary Schoolteacher is facing three felony charges on suspicious charges suspicious of serving her colleagues food laced with marijuana. She is a first grade teacher at Matthew Turner. Several co workers got sick after eating food she brought to a party. One woman had tests done and learned there was thc in her system. One of the people there took some of the food home and their 15yearold ate this food and became sick. Police say that she apparently told some of the people at the party that she brought food with marijuana in it. According to the times she has been a teacher in the district for 18 years. She has been put on administrative leave during the investigation. A family is pleading for a 14yearold boy accused of killing his sister to turn himself inful Mario Tolliver was last seen when he allegedly shot his sister. Family initially said that she was shot after an argument about laundry but now they say they dont know what sparked that argument and they are begging that 14yearold to come forward. He said he was sorry. He was scared. He is scared now. We think the police going to kill him. I plead for him to come home or call someone. Police say that they do consider him armed and dangerous because the weapon used in the killing has not been recovered. Anyone with information on his where abouts is asked to call police. Federal regulators have approved safety changes at the hospital after a patient died in a locked stair well. Lend spaulding was found dead last october after going missing 17 days earlier. The hospitals new safety plan was signed off on. The reforms include daily security checks of all emergency stair wells, a bracelet tracking system for any patient who are at risk of wandering away and if a stair well alarm rings nurse also now be required to make sure all patients are accounted for. Hospital officials also say that government monitoring will continue. For this investigation it is now done. We are no longer deficient and the plan of correction has shown we are safer and we have a plan to become safer still. New regulations are also in place for the Sheriffs Department which is responsible for security at the hospital. The senate is Holding Hearings on claim that Caltrans Press pressured engineers to stay quiet on problems in cracks and welds on the bridge. The managers say they were relaced for reporting the problems. The report also says that bridge officials ignored warnings that rods had not been tested properly. Yesterday the department of health released a report stating the number of flu related deaths is now up to 95. Another 51 deaths could be flu related. Nobody was injured in any of this. We talked to the people who live in this house. They moved in november and the guy who lives here said it looks like a tornado came through the front yard. You can see a lot of the debris, pieces of insulation, parts of his neighbors wall, the two front windows blown out. All of this happened when a driver lost control of his car and that driver slammed into this home. Before he slammed in to the home the car clipped the corner garage of the house next door and knocked out a power box that pg e crews still trying to replace. If we pan up a liting to the left a little to the left you can see the guys the hazmat crews to clean up some of the oil that spilled. Bart police say that Sergeant Thomas smith was shot to death tuesday afternoon by another officer, it happened during a probation search at an apartment in dublin. Students at the college of marin are on alert after a male student reported being kid kidnapped is sexually assaulted. It happened thursday night in parking lot 13. The male student said that there was someone in the backseat of his car armed with a gun who ordered him to drive to mill valley. The victim was able to escape the person who committed the crime was an African American man around 62, between 220 and 235 pounds. A richmond man accused of a hate crime has been sentenced to 31 years. Robert ortiz plead guilty in connection to a gang rape. The victim was walking home when she was attacked by a street gang. The city of roseville is turning on all four of its water well pumps. This could be the First Time Ever that all four of these wells have one and delivered water. Turning on all of them could help the city cope with water issues during the drought. They come from an aquafier located 350 feet below the city. Next week they will be turned on and will stay on until it rains enough to help the water supply. The governor is asking the california Supreme Court to o the high speed rail project. Two Lower Court Rulings are preventing them from selling voter approved bonds. They are also requiring the authority to write a new financing plan. The governor is arguing that the rulings could hurt the states ability to finance other voter approved projects in the future. San franciscos delores park will get a 12. 4 million face lift on thursday. The Commission Approved the construction start in march. Planned improvements include renovating the Basketball Court and new rest rooms. About half of the park will have to be closed. Work is expected to be complete by spring of 2015. They said the dogged jumped over a small fence, that they have always been friendly, never aggressive but they do not have dog licenses. The dogs are now at the animal shelter. Their fate is uncertain. The couple wants them put down but the owners want them spared. The Humane Society is asking for help after rescuing 61 dogs. The shelter is now in need of linets, dog bowls and other supplies. They are also asking volunteers to help with laundry or to foster the dogs. A man who cop captured video of a Border Patrol agent kicking a undocumented immigrant has been arrested and he thinks its revenge for releasing the video. He said agents came and demanded the video. He gave it over but they also wanted his help finding a second undocumented immigrant who got it. He refused and then got a call from his probation officer saying the ankle bracelet he is required to wear was not working properly. He was arrested when he went into have the device checked. The Border Patrol denies Excessive Force was used in the videotaped arrest. The Affordable Care act reaches an important milestone. Three million have signed up for the coverage. It happened just after midnight on buchanan road. Allie rasmus is live in the city of antioch. The crash knocked out power in the neighborhood for some, is that right . Reporter it did. There are four to five homes on buchanan street that are still without power and will be for sometime this afternoon. First, lets show you how this crash happened. This is caused by a driver heading eastbound on buchanan street, just past san jose drive. You can see where he hit the median. Some of the bushes are knocked down. Then the car went into opposing lanes of traffic, hit this pg e transformer the hazmat crews are now working to clean up. Then the car continued. It slammed into the side of this house here and rolled into the home next door. You can take a closer look at some of the damage, see whats left of a garage door, a printer, even an old shoe in this pile of rubble. Incredibly, no one was injured in this crash. The driver was able to walk away from it. But this is what the scene looked like shortly after it happened. Again, it was just after midnight. There were people inside both homes, a total of five people who the car crashed, but again, no one was injured. We talked to a homeowner this morning. He said hes very upset, will have to spend a lot of money repairing and replacing his things. Half of my things, just trashed into their house. I cant find any single thing over there. Had a lot of tools and everything. Im just building stuff. All the stuff is brandnew, just bought it. It just got crushed. Reporter now, the cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say the driver did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol and said they believe excessive speed may be the reason the driver lost control of his vehicle. But back out here live, pg e crews tell me they have to completely replace the power box the car took out and redo wiring and cables that connect to it. Over here, we also had a hazmat crew thats been out here since early this morning, cleaning up some of the oil that spilled from that transformer after this crash happened. There will be work to do out here and the cleanup will take a long time, not just for the hazmat crews, but long time for the homeowners and residents affected by the crash. The victim was hit by several cars and died at the scene. Chp is trying to figure out if the victim was on the freeway because that persons motorcycle broke down on nearby interstate 980. Three drivers stopped at the scene and are cooperating with officers. The freeway was shut down for more than an hour. All lanes are now back open. One person is in Critical Condition this morning after being hit by a car while sitting at a bus stop. It happened about 10 30 last night at 30th and mission streets. Police say a car lost control and crashed into a bus stop where one person was sitting inside. Police tell us they are questioning the driver. We are following breaking news for you right now in maryland. There has been a shooting at a mall. Its happening at the Columbia Mall in baltimore. Local Media Outlets are reporting that several people have been hurt and that the gunman may be among the wounded. We are trying to gather more information and will have more on this breaking story as we get it. Authorities in the peninsula say a man convicted of child molestation has skipped town. Police in menlo park are now looking for 50yearold carlos tehran after he failed to appear in court yesterday for a sentencing. A jury found him guilty on three felony counts of child molestation in november. Prosecuters say he molested the 10yearold son of a neighbor who was friendly with his son. A venetia Elementary School teacher is facing three felony charges on suspicion of serving her colleagues food laced with marijuana. 47yearold theresa badger is a first grade teacher at Matthew Turner Elementary School. Police say several of her coworkers got sick after eating food badger brought to an off campus party in november. One woman had blood tests done and learned that there was thc in her system, the active ingredient in marijuana. One of the attendees took some of the food home and their 15yearold juvenile ingested this food and became ill. Police say badger apparently told some of the people at that party that she brought food with marijuana in it. Badger has been a teacher in the district for 18 years. She has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation. An oakland family is pleading for a 14yearold boy accused of killing his sister to turn himself in. Police say Mario Tolliver, jr. Was last seen in oakland chinatowns neighborhood, where on thursday he allegedly shot his 17yearold sister. Family members initially said that justice tolliver was shot after an argument about laundry. Now the family says they arent so sure what sparked the argument and they are being that 14yearold to come forward. He said he was sorry. He was scared. Hes scared now. You know, think the police is going to kill him, and i plea for him to come home or call somebody. Police say they consider tolliver armed and dangerous because the weapon used in the killing has not been recovered. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call oakland police. Federal regulators approved safety changes at San Francisco general hospital, after a patient died in a locked stairwell. 57yearold Lynn Spalding was found dead last october, 17 days after she went missing from her room. The centers for medicare and Medicaid Services signed off on the hospitals new safety plan after interviewing staff and reviewing security. The reforms include daily security checks of all emergency stairwells, a bracelet tracking system for any patients who are at risk of wandering off, and if a stairwell alarm rings, nurses will now be required to make sure all patients are accounted for. Hospital officials also say government monitoring will continue. But for this investigation, it is now concluded. We are no longer deficient, and our plan of correction has shown that we are safer and that we have a plan to become safer still. New regulations are also in place for the Sheriffs Department, which is responsible for security at the hospital. Well, the state senate is Holding Hearings on claims that cal trans pressured engineers to keep quiet about construction problems on the new span of the bay bridge. State Senate Report shows cal trans found thousands of cracks in welds for the tower, but then replaced the managers who reported those problems. The report also claims bridge officials ignored warnings in 2008, that anchor rods for the suspension span had not been adequately tested. Engineers say they were told not to put their concerns in writing, but the director of cal trans insists the bridge is safe and is going to last 150 years. I have no evidence or no reason to believe there was any coercion or anything like that or bullying to make determinations. The Baltimore Sun is now reporting that three people have died and that one of the victims was found near ammunition and a gun, leading to reports that the shooter may be one of the dead. Now back to the story in antioch, where people were inside their homes at the time of that car crash and the impact knocked out power in the neighborhood. Reporter mike, we had to move across the street, just in the last half hour because the hazmat crews called out to clean up some of the mess, they are cleaning up some of the oil that spilled out of a transformer when it was knocked over by this car that collided into the area, they are getting ready to get out their hoses and we were in their way. We can show you video closeup of some of the damage caused by the crash. The man who lives in this house said it looked like a tornado swept through his front yard. Theres debris, pieces of his neighbors wall and garage door in his front yard. All of this happened when a driver lost control of his car. The car was headed eastbound on san jose drive in antioch. At one point, the driver lost control, crossed a median into oncoming lanes of traffic before slamming into the garage of one home, then rolling into the yard next door, shattering the front windows of that house. Now, there are people inside both of the homes when the car collided in the houses. Amazingly, no one was injured. Even the driver was able to walk away from the crash. We woke up to, like, a huge bang. Actually thought somebody was coming in the window and my mom sleeps in the bedroom where it cracked the wall and broke the glass in the bedroom where she was. We walked outside and there was people everywhere and the car was upside down in our yard. Reporter the cause of the crash is under investigation. Police say the driver did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol after they talked to him and interviewed him. They believe instead excessive speed may be the reason he lost control of his car. Back out here live, pg e crews have to completely replace the power box that the car took out before slamming into the homes. They have to redo some of the wiring and cables that connect to it. They expect to be here for most of the day. In the meantime, there are a few street lights and about four to five homes that are going to be without power for the afternoon. We are learning more about the relationship between the bart detective who was killed this week and the officer who accidentally shot him. Bart police say Sergeant Thomas smith was shot to death tuesday afternoon by fellow officer michael maze. It happened during a probation search at an apartment in dublin. Mazes Attorney Says the two were not only coworkers, but friends as well. Officer maze is very concerned and deeply concerned with how sergeant smiths family is feeling, and he extends his love and consideration to them. Police psychologist says friendly fire shootings are especially difficult for Law Enforcement because its such a tightknit community. Officer maze is now on administrative leave. The funeral for detective Sergeant Tom Smith will take place wednesday at 10 00 a. M. At the Neighborhood Church of castro valley. It is located on drawn drive and is also known as the Three Crosses church. We are learning more about a deadly accident on the Railroad Tracks here the santa clara cal trans station. Police say the man who died on monday night was trying to save the life of a stranger. Philip schulze was trying to pull a man lying on the tracks to safety when he was hit. He would endanger his life for someone else. Hes just that type of person. The man Philip Schulze was trying to help is in Critical Condition in the hospital. A Memorial Service for schulze will be held february 10 at the Veterans Memorial building in pleasanton. Students at the college of marin in kentfield are on alert this morning after a male student was kidnapped and sexually assaulted on campus on thursday night. A male student told investigators there was someone in the back seat of his car, armed with a gun, who ordered him to drive to mill valley. He told deputies that is where he was sexually assaulted. A text alert was sent out yesterday to warn students. Theres always people, cops all around this campus. Someone getting assaulted here is just really nerve racking. Investigators say the victim was able to escape and get help. Deputies say the person who committed the crime is described as an African American man, about 6 2, weighing between 220 and 235 pounds. A richmond man accused of a hate crime in 2008 has been sentenced to 31 years in prison. Robert ortiz pleaded guilty in connection to a gang rape. The victim was walking home when she was attacked by members of a street gang. Ortiz was 15 at the time. He is now 20 years old. Two other men have also been convicted of that crime. President obama says hes ordered his administration to deal with the issue of sexual violence. Sexual assault is an affront to our basic decency and humanity. Its about all of us. The safety of those we love most, our moms, our wives, our daughters, and our sons. In this mornings weekly address, the president discussed his efforts to stop sexual assaults. It is estimated one in five women is assaulted in college. Thats why he says this week he did sign that order, establishing a White House Task force to examine the issue and to help schools better protect its students. A Home Invasion robbery has some residents in marin county a little worried. It happened yesterday at about 11 30 in the morning. Police say three men forced their way into a home on green beret. A man in his twenties, the victim, says they tied him up and put him in a closet before they ransacked his house. He was able to untie himself and called 911. Neighbors say the incident has left them a bittner of us. I was home. Could have happened to me. Doesnt make me feel safe. The robbers stole a number of items, including an ipad. A number of homes in the area have security cameras and they are reviewing video. Three people are accused of robbing an elderly couple at gunpoint. Police say all three men are in their twenties. They have released this sketch of one of the men who is 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. Police say the three suspects forced their way into the palo alto home on thursday morning and ordered a couple in their eighties to lie facedown on the floor. The suspects then got away with wallets, cash, and an unloaded gun. Police say the couple wasnt hurt, but they were shaken up. The city of oakland is holding an unusual giveaway today to help stop vehicles from being stolen or even broken into. 200 Steering Wheel locks will be handed out on a first come, firstserved basis. The giveaway started 30 minutes ago at Clinton Square park. Oakland mayor and the police chief are scheduled to be at the event. Oakland police are asking the public to look for a stolen car that was used during burglaries in two neighborhoods. Investigators say its a gray 2009 fourdoor honda fit. The car has california license plate 6 hdx 632. Police say it has been used in burglaries in the North Oakland and lake merritt neighborhoods. One of the robbers is described as a heavy set white male. The other is a blonde white female. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police. It happened just after midnight a buchanan road. The crash did knock out power in the neighborhood. No one was hurt and the cause of that crash is still under investigation. Chp investigating a deadly accident on highway 24 in oakland, involving a pedestrian. That pedestrian was hit by several vehicles and died at the scene. Chp is looking into whether the person who was hit ended up on the freeway after breaking down on a motorcycle on interstate 980. Three drivers stopped at the scene and are cooperating with officers. A be knee venetia teacher is charged with serving several of her coworkers laced with marijuana. She brought the food to an off campus party. Badger teaches at Matthew Turner Elementary School and has been placed on administrative leave. Sacramento has broken a 130 yearold dry weather record. Tomorrow will be the 50th day without any measurable rainfall. The old winter drought record was 46 days back in 1884. Water levels in many sacramento area lakes and reservoirs are at alarmingly low levels. Sacramento has directed those living and working in the city to reduce water usage by 20 to 30 . The city of roseville is turning on all four of its water well pumps. This will be the First Time Ever that all four of these wells have delivered water to the customers. City Officials Say turning on all of the wells could help the city cope with the water issues during the drought. The wells come from an aquifer located 350 feet below the city. Next week, the wells will be turned on and city Officials Say they will stay on until it rains enough to help the water supply. Governor jerry pron is asking the california Supreme Court to overturn two rulings that are stalling the states high speed rail project. Two Lower Court Rulings are preventing the state from selling 8. 6 million in voter approved bonds. The rulings are also requiring the High Speed Rail Authority to write a new financing plan. The governor is arguing the rulings could hurt the states ability to approve other voter approved projects in the future. San franciscos dolores park will be getting a 12. 4 million facelift. On thursday, the recreation and Park Commission approved the Construction Contracts set to begin in march. Planned improvements include renovating the basketball and tennis courts, putting in a new irrigation system, and installing new rest rooms. About half of the park will have to be closed during each phase of the construction and the work is expected to be complete by spring of 2015. An antioch couple is recovering after being attacked by pitbulls during an evening walk. As ktvus rob roth reports it, took a sharp knife to fight off the dogs. Reporter his arm is torn up, his wife has cuts, and their poodle had the back of her neck ripped open. Almost shell shocked. It happened so fast. Last thing i expected was to have to, you know, fight for my life. Reporter it happened wednesday evening. The four went for their usual walk, when they got here to minto lane a few blocks from home, three pitbulls charged them, going for the dogs. One latched on to the poodles neck. She was squealing a death cry. Her face was up at me, so all i could see was terror in her face. Reporter Charlene Wadsworth says she was knocked to the ground, but kept hanging on to her dog. Her life was in danger. She could have gotten killed. Reporter wadsworth says as he tried to help his hound, the pitbull bit him. Grabbed my hand and started chewing it up. Reporter he took out this knife and stabbed the attacking dog once in the ribs. The dog retreated and by then neighbors and the pitbull owners had pulled the dogs away. The owners of the pit bulls would not go on camera. They said the dogs got out by jumping over this small fence, that the dogs have always been friendly, never aggressive. But they do not have dog licenses. I think the Community Awareness needs to be if you have a pet, you need to realize how strong these dogs are and the responsibility behind owning a dog. Rob roth reporting there. The pitbulls are at the antioch animal shelter. The wadsworths say they would like to see the dogs put down, but the owners want them to live. The Sonoma County Humane Society is asking for help after rescuing 61 dogs from a woman who is being evicted from her home. Tuesdays rescue has pushed the facility to beyond capacity, but the agency says it had to take them in. Many of the dogs were suffering from lice, heartworm and fractured teeth. The shelter is now in urgent need of linens, unbreakable dog bowls and other dog supplies. The agency is also asking volunteers to help with laundry or to even foster the dogs. The Affordable Care act reaches an important milestone. 3million people have now signed up for healthcare coverage. However, that number is far less than the 7 million the administration had hoped for by the end of december. While supporters say they are encouraged that a growing number of americans are taking advantage of the healthcare program, critics say that 3 million number is inflated because it includes enrollees who have yet to make their first payment and the Insurance Industry traditionally only considers someone enrolled after they pay that first months premium. Well, Nursing Homes run by nuns in denver will not have to provide Birth Control to employees. The Supreme Court has ruled the Little Sisters of the poor is exempt from the Birth Control mandate under the new healthcare law. The court ruled that the nuns do not have to comply with the rule if they send their objections to the department of health and Human Services in writing. The healthcare law requires most insurance plans to cover the cost of Birth Control. Churches are exempt, but hospitals and other organizations that are affiliated with religious groups are not.
