Tara moriarty is live for us on the scene to tell us what family members and investigators are saying. Tara . Reporter well, we just spoke to someone from the Alameda County Sheriffs Department and obviously this is a horrible tragedy. You can imagine the familys heart broke, this happening on heartbreak. This is happening on christmas. A man killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself. And the 17yearold son witnessed the entire shooting. This happened around 2 00 in the morning on via amigos the sister says 36yearold the woman was shot by her husband and then he turned the gun on himself. The couples four children were home at the time. The victims sister said she learned this morning that her sister was having marital problems. Last night, Sheriffs Office received a call here of shots fired. When they got there, they found a woman who was had multiple gunshot wounds and a male who had a single gunshot wound. At this point, we believe its a murdersuicide. Reporter Veronica Rodriquez said her sister was a hard worker. She cleaned offices and worked at a fastfood restaurant to make ends meets. The children range in age from 112 to 20 11 to 20. Homicide detectives are here. A portion of the street is shut down. Detectives say its not so much who did this, they have figured that out. Its more the question of why. Im Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. Ten San Francisco residents are out of their homes after an overnight house fire that broke out just after midnight. You are taking a look at video of the 1100 block of potrero avenue which is in the Mission District. This video comes from josh jacobson. You can hee how see how intense the flames were. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze after froerblt minutes. No one was 40 minutes. No one was hurt. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire. A judge has agreed with oakland Childrens Hospital in a dispute whether or not to keep jahi mcmath on life support. She suffered serious complications after her tonsils were removed on december 9th and was declared brain dead three days later. Yesterday, a judge ruled that unless an Appeals Court intervenes, the hospital does not have to keep jahi on life support. Beyond next monday, december 30th. We still have her until the 30th. That gives us another week for the chance at a miracle still. Theres still hope there for us. Jahis family still has not decided if they are gog to appeal going to appeal the ruling. They are considering moving her to a longcare facility. Many around the country are freezing waking up to a white and very cold Christmas Morning. A lot of the midwest and the northeast has snow on the ground. This weeks storm has left more than 500,000 people without electricity in michigan, new york and new england. The National Weather service says be aware of big waves and some sneaker waves along the coast between monterey and Sonoma County. Those waves can hit the beach without any warning and cover up land that had been dry just moments before. Outoftown visitors may not know about those dangers. Hundreds of volunteers will help the Salvation Army in San Francisco deliver warm meals and Holiday Cheer. 3600 meals are gonna be cooked, packaged and then delivered to needy families and Senior Citizens who live alone. At 10 00 this morning, st. Anthony foundation in San Francisco will serve thousands of holiday meals for the needy. Yesterday, volunteers were collecting food and socks and other goods at a curbside dropoff. Football players playing in the 2013 fight hunger bowl, they will be helping to serve about 4,000 meals. Theres controversy over a giftgiving program at san quentin, the accusations being made against a prison. Rise and sunshine, here comes the sun. Only on 2, employees and customers of an oakland Convenience Store say the Justice System has repeatedly failed to protect them from a man they say has a long history of violence and harassment. 42yearold Galen Pittman is accused of aggressive panhandling at the sana market on telegraph avenue for years. The owners say since 2011 when they got a restraining order against him, hes been arrested for violating the order 21 times. Most recently on monday. Dont know what to do anymore. We wish we could do something about it. It seems like they dont want to help or do anything about it. The storeowners say they have Surveillance Video of him harassing customers. Prosecutors say they routinely file charges on restraining order violations but it doesnt seem to be enough. Hes reportedly causing trouble across the street at a church. Pittman right now is in jail on 20,000 bail for violating the restraining order and probation. Theres a new report out this morning that the target cyber attackers managed to get information, more information than they first thought. One Bank Executive says the hackers managed to steal encrypted personal identification numbers from credit and debit cards. Now there are concerns that thieves may be able to break the encrip shin cord codes. Were actuallying hearing that some cvs, walgreens and starbucks are open today. One family yesterday received toys, food and a Christmas Tree. Family members of inmates at san quentin say toys donated for visiting children are being taken away from a prison employee. Every year, toys are collected as they leave the prison room. This year, family members say a prison sergeant decided each child could only receive two twists per visit. They said that rule was not in place in previous years. Family members also say the same sergeant allegedly took toys away from kids. Fans of the 49ers and giants are dropping by Candlestick Park realizing the old stadium could be gone by this time next year. Many wanted to take one more photo and go to a spot where a lot of happy memories for their family and friends were created. They have until february to cancel their lease with the city and take out belongings. Demolition is comot not expected is not expected to begin until late next year. Some people who live or work nearby are look forward to the new development are looking forward to the new development. That will be good. A car slammed into the house in the south bay. Well tell you what witnesses saw moments before the crash. Police in san jose have arrest the two people suspected of a treat arrested two people suspected of street racing with a car ending up in a house. Witnesses say two cars were racing when one was clipped by a third vehicle. One of the automobiles spun out of control and crashed into that home. Theres no respect for nothing. Officers say one person inside the car was treated for moderate injuries. No one inside the house was hurt. Alameda county firefighters made sure a county burned out of its Union City Home could celebrate christmas. Merry christmas firefighters caught up with 16 members of the family who are now living at a relatives house. The firefighters brought toys and Holiday Cheer. Seven people were living in the Union City Home with nine more visiting from out of town. Sometimes kids dont understand what fire does and dont understand what goes on after a fire. A federal Appeals Court rejected the states request for a stay on issuing samesex marriage licenses while that case works its way through the courts. A federal judge last week struck down a law passed by utah voters banning gay marriage. Since friday, almost 700 same sex couples have been married. Emout spitzer and Eliot Spitzer and his life are splitting up. They issued a statement saying they rebret their marriage is over reflect their marriage is over and would not make any comments. Reno Police Confirmed the shooter, 51yearold allen Oliver Frazier was a former patient there and had complained about a botched vasectomy in 2010. He killed one person before killing himself. Authorities in fremont searching this morning for the owner of a pit bull that they say attacked Police Officers, firefighters, a grandfather and his son before police shot and killed him. This happened saturday. Police say the dog bit a childs foot and injured the grandfathers hand. When a Police Officer approached it with a baton, the pit bull grabbed the baton and ran away. That dog later charged at firefighters who were treating the injuries of the grandfather and his grandson. And when the dog charged at police again, a Police Officer shot and killed it. A family in concord feeling better about the Christmas Spirit now after someone brought back two holiday gnomes stolen last month from their lawn. We first told you about this during thanksgiving. Frank and janet put up a sign, pleading for the return of those gnomes. They were made by their daughter carolyn when she was 8 years old. Well, carolyn died two years ago at the age of 54. The family has not celebrated christmas since her death. When they saw the gnomes had been brought back Christmas Eve, their holiday spirit came back, too. I took a double take. I ran into the bedroom yelling at janet, our gnomes had returned. Wake up she said no. I said yes. They put out a sign thanking whoever brought back the gnomes and said their faith in humanity has been restored. A charity in vallejo received a helping hand. Wrapper e40 grew up in vallejo and troped by yesterday to spread some Holiday Cheer and i gave out and gave out bicycles and presented the charity with a check for 10,000. The rapper whose name is earl stevens said he made the donation because of the tough sometimes many in the city are facing. When you need food clothes, when times are hard, during hardship, this is the place to go. They always extend a hand. You know, the Community Comes together and they all pitch in. The Salvation Army said that it was facing a shortfall this holiday before stevens called up to offer his donation. Well, the nfl may own thanksgiving but christmas is about the nba. Reporter unbeknownst to people who didnt live in the home, the couple was reportedly experiencing marital problems. This is a horrible tragedy to happen on Christmas Day. A witness says that the husband shot his wife, killing her and turned the gun on himself. The 17yearold son witnessed the ent tire thing entire thing. Were on the corner of via amigos and via lucas. This happening around 2 00 this morning. The victims sister said that her 36yearold sister was shot by her husband, john. She suffered several gunshot wounds. Then john killed himself, dying of a single gunshot wound to the head. All of the couples four children were home at the time. The victims sister said her nieces called her this morning with the news. They just told me they were having problems in their marriage. Reporter nobody expected Something Like this . No. No. We dont expect nothing like this. Like any marriage, sometimes we have problems. Theres no threat to the neighborhood or community. That is unfortunately a very tragic incident that occurred on christmas. And were working to find out not so much what happened but why it happened. Yesterday, a judge ruled that unless an Appeals Court intervenes, the hospital does not have to keep jahi mcmath on life support beyond next monday, december 30th. A Christmas Morning tragedy to tell you about is being investigated in san lorenzo. A husband apparently shot and killed his wife and then killed himself. Officials say the husband was angry, possibly because he thought that his wife was cheating on him. So he shot himself and then actually he killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself. Now, this happened saturday. Police say the dog bit the child on the foot and injured the grandfathers hand. When the Police Officer approached it with a baton, the pit bull grabbed the baton and ran away. The dog later charged at firefighters who were treating the injured grandfather and his grandson. When the dog charged at police again, a Police Officer shot and killed it. A family in concord is suing the Christmas Spirit after someone brought back two holiday gnomes stolen last month from their lawn. The parents of a 3monthold baby boy born with half of a working heart say he is their miracle baby.
