Police are still out looking for that reporter he was driving home from work. He was driving home from his shift in berkeley this past weekend when she was killed in this crash. The crash that ended his life happened about 2 20 saturday morning. Oakland police say a speeding Dodge Charger slammed into burtons car leaving him dead at the scene. The driver of that Dodge Charger got out and ran off after the the crash. Those who knew burton are devastated. Hes been my right arm for a long time. Hes always been there by my side. And a go fund me account has been set up for burton to will help his wife and children with expenses and already people have donated more than 13,000. It is unclear if Oakland Police have identified the driver of the car that truck and killed burton but again that person ran off and Oakland Police still trying to track that driver down. Hit and run making things even more difficult. Im very sorry to hear about your friend. Yes. Its a very difficult time for myself and his family. That driver identified as emerson carbalo of daly city. He was arrested and charged with deadly assault. The two men argued and shouted at each other. Police are not sure whether or where or why the conflict started but he says the antagonism was mutual. I just heard people yelling. He is is a cyclist from witness accounts. Was banging on the uber cab window. Pubbed in his side view mirror. After the cars mirror was pushed they both picked up speed and the uber car swerved hitting the rear tire, rear wheel of the bike. Last night uber issued a statement. Our thoughts are with the victim of this also new this morning a report being released shows the bay area is not prepared far super storm that could flood the region. The study shows that type of storm is inevitable. Janine de la vega is joining us from palo alto with one of the areas that could be hardest hit. Hard to imagine with the draft going on now. Reporter it sure is. But Santa Clara County is one of the areas that is at risk according to the bay area council. Now the nonprofit is saying that hundreds of thousands of homes in low lying areas could flood and here is why. Now the Councils Report claims that because of extreme climate change, the bay area could be in for a powerful 150 year super storm. Experts also predict sea levels will rise by 1124 inches by 2015 which would also have a dramatic impact on the region. The levies, seawalls, and channels that im according to this report, 80 of the flooding damage would occur in marin, san mateo, and Santa Claire Ram counties. Local, state, and federal officials are being encouraged to invest in infrastructure that is dated and they are also encouraging that we need to restore wetlands that serve as natural flood protectors. The fire started saturday night and burned more than 1,000 acres near the cities of nor koa and corona. The flames threatened hundreds of homes. Several neighborhoods had to be evacuated. I want to mention a crash. Right in the middle of the dublin grade. Halfway between dublin and Castro Valley blocking lane. Once they clear that crash, things may clear up quickly. As we go to another look at things, this is a look at interstate 880 and traffic is moving along very nicely. As a matter of fact, it has been a nice commute right through there. If you are driving in san jose northbound 280 traffic does look good. In fact, the entire south bay commute a lot of green which means traffic is at or near the speed limit. 5 33 lets go back. Ive known wesley for 20 years or so. He was a mentor of mine and a wonderful guy to be around. He was heading home from work Early Saturday Morning when he was killed in this crash and this is where it happened. You can see flowers and a memorial had been set up at this site at mlk and 60th street. This is all to remember wesley burton. Burton hosted the after Hours Program at kpfa in berkeley. He spent decades working in radio. He also worked at the youth radio Training Program which is where i met him back in the 90s. Glance woman in richmond was cited after her car flew off the road and into a slide. Police posted these pictures from saturday afternoon on facebook. They say the driver was distracted. They look good so far. There are a couple of spots where they havent gotten the message. Lets start off and have a look at highway 24. Not a bad commute. Westbound as you drive from walnut creek to oakland. Commute here looks okay. Westbound 580 continues to be a big problem as they try to get it out of the way. Westbound on 580 the traffic is going to be very slow now into dublin. If youre driving over to Castro Valley you need to give yourself extra time. Its a vehicle that is a couple of vehicles involved here. Including a large truck so again westbound 580 driving to Castro Valley is going to be unusually slow. This may be the morning to take bart instead of using 580 westbound. You can get right through on bart. So again the closest thing we have to a commute are these commutes. 280 on 1010 and san jose. 5 48 lets go to steve. We have a lot of clouds in place. There is is plenty of low clouds to go around. They developed thunderstorms in the afternoon. When they collapse they head off toward us. So some of these may play into our forecast. This is pretty close again. 50s or low 60s around the bay. Goes from sacramento down to brawley. Oakland going for 54 top start and 66 for a high today. Much, much cooler and san jose pretty mild low. 56. They are popping up here. Next the very Daring Rescue involving two officers and a specific weapon just seconds before that car burst into flames. Marin search and rescue teams spent three days looking for the two men. Two others died in fridays boating accident. Their bodies were found saturday morning near debris from the boat. The crew launched their boat out of bodega bay for a fishing trip. Its still not clear what caused the accident. Five years after that massive bp oil spill communities are still waiting for the bees of dollars to help them recover. Environment talis have taken steps to identify which projects should be paid for with the money paid by the oil company. But the problem is they are still waiting for those funds which were on hold until a federal court in new orleans decides exactly happen the company should pay. That spill back in 2010 killed 11 people. Almost five Million Barrels of oil spilled into the gulf. A drunk driver is alive thanks to the quick action of two police officers. A Police Dash Cam captured the dramatic rescue. This happened on thursday after a 45yearold woman in new jersey crashed her car. Police quickly arrived on the scene to find the car flipped over. Smoke was rising from it. They used a knife and cut the womans seat belt and pulled her out of that burning car. With any overturned motor vehicle, with any responsive vehicle you have to worry about neck injuries, spinal injuries, and they were extremely concerned over all. Just amazing after 24 seconds after dragging her out that car burst into flames. The woman was air lifted to a nearby Medical Center where she was treated for nonlife threatening injuries. She does face number of charges including driving while intoxicated and driving with an open container. A cat in poland that was saved from dying out on the streets has become an internet sensation because this cat nurses others in need. It almost had to be put down but a veterinarian took a chance and saved its life. Now this cat cuddles up and hugs other animals fighting very serious injuries. He gives equal attention and love top cats and dogs. They joke hes a full time nurse. That is one of the sweetest stories i have ever heard. That is incredible. Look at the hug.
