A child in the car seat was found in the car after the driver ran away from the scene. Alex savidge is joining us live now with more on the search for this driver. Good morning, alex. Reporter good morning, to you. The good news in all of this the child involved in this pursuit was restrained in a car seat and did not have to be transported to the hospital. So that is the good news this morning. This car that was being chased by officers did a lot of damage when it was crashed. You can see the road remains shut down here at russ road as chp officers repair a pair of power poles that were taken out during this crash. There may have been another person in the car as well. Chp officers came in and searched the area for the driver but we do understand that man remains on the run still this morning. This pursuit first started just after 2 00 in the morning when chp offices pulled this man over on 880. Its unclear what sort of violation the man was stopped for initially or why he ran from that traffic stop. That is all information we are trying to learn from the chp. We understand the chp has been in contact with the childs mother and they are making arrangements there to have those two reunited. Alex savidge, thanks for the update. Well talk to you later. Cleanup is under way this morning in iowa, illinois, and ohio following deadly tornadoes. Pictures are just scary this was taken by a storm chaser. The winds knocking things down and just how much force that twister has as it moves through neighborhoods. One person was killed, dozens of buildings destroyed. Several people are still missing and crews are hoping to go through the rubble today. A dozen customers and employees were initially trapped in the debris after riding out the storm in the buildings basement. In kansas that same storm system brought pounding hail the size of tennis balls. It was Strong Enough to crack the windshield of this car. In michigan a home was struck by lightning. You can see the damage but fortunately no one inside the home was hurt. Today the Severe Weather is moving out of the midwest and heading to the southeast, gulf coast, and east coast. Reporter all of this construction behind us, that is the reason there. For that reason van ness is closed. The shut down will allow crews to construct a pedestrian tunnel. While that is happening van ness will be closed to public vehicles. The closure will not have any impact on the transit in that area expect for delays to the munis 4 and 49 line 47 and 49 lines. There is a lot of signage out here to help you with detours in the area. That may create delays on surrounding streets. Of course we will stay on top of this and bring you the very latest. Last night the Santa Clara School board heard Public Comment about a proposal by the San Francisco 49ers to renovate three soccer fields of Public Schools for 3 million. In return though, the 49ers would be allowed to use the city owned soccer field that is right next to levi stadium. Many are saying the numbers dont add up. I believe washiest is but i really want you to understand its way more than that. It is way more than that. We have proposal on the table that doesnt fill the need of santa claire real residents. Some people also say there should be an official presentation by both the board and 49ers. The school board will make a decision on whether or not to accept those funds. Pg e does not plan to appeal the record fine by the deadly san bruno explosion. They approved 1. 6 billion penalty against pg e yesterday. The money will go toward Pipeline Safety improvements, the states general fund, and to utility customers. Eight people were killed. Its been a rough road sense that day. Detours have been set up but drivers and muni passengers in the area should expect delays. If you are walking f youre a pedestrian, you are able to walk up and down the streets. Emergency vehicles are allowed to go through. Public transit, Public Transportation is able to go up and down. After that you can hear officer slager chasing him before the video goes black. Moments later the officer shot scott eight times. Now that shooting was captured by cell phone video and following its release officer slager was charged with murder. Yesterday erika garner the daughter of eric garner who died in a Police Confrontation in new york was speaking in oakland. Her father died last year after being put in a choke hold by new York City Police officers and in that case a new york grand jury decided not to charge the Police Officers involved. Ive been getting a lot of questions. Like do you see a difference or do you see a change coming, do we have faith in the system now. And my answer is no. Organizers of yesterdays events say the quick arrests of officer slager is a sign that other cities dont want another situation like ferguson, missouri had there. The situation in South Carolina and across the country shows a growing number of officer involved shootings are being captured on cell phone video. On wednesday a sunny veil Police Officer identified as benjamin shot and killed a man police say was carrying a knife used in an armed robbery. That shooting was captured on cell phone video. Now judge cordell is the independent Police Auditor for the city of san jose. She says you do not have to hand over your phone to place police. A 13yearold boy dead, an eightyearold boy remains in grave condition after being pulled from a car that plunged into the water at the port of los angeles. Rescue divers pulled both boys from the car that landed upside down in 30 feet of water. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where the older boy died. Two adults were also in the car. Its not clear what caused the car to plunge into the water but witnesses say they heard brakes screeching just before the incident. Both adults are in fair condition.
