Just light rain falling in healdsburg so far this morning. As we heard, a lot of the heavier stuff son the way here. That is why you see this kind of scene all over the downtown healdsburg area. People have put out the sandbag miss front of their business. They will not take any chances here for this several inches of rain heading this way. The downtown businesses many of them got hit hard. There are flash flood watches in effect across the north bay. Here in downtown healdsburg a lot of the Business Owners say they wont take any chances thick time around. The stores were overwhelmed by a drenching rainstorm back in december. You probably remember that storm. At a nearby hardware store, the sandbags were going fast. Some people took advantage of that. I imagine tomorrow morning after the rains tonight that we will see a bit more a bit more action. Many fire stations up here in the north bay will also have sandbags available for people as well. There is the concern about flooding on top of that. You also have the winds that will be coming along with this storm. That bring the possibility of downed trees, downed power lines and the concern about Power Outages as well. We bring you back out here live in downtown hells burg. A ton of sandbags piled up outside of this hair salon. Same story with a lot of the other businesses in this area. Dave, people saw what happened last time. A lot of stores saw flooding and quite a bit of damage. And they dont want a repeat performance. We were live on the air with you. From the north bay to the east bay and all over the bay area, crews are expected to be really busy this weekend cleaning up stores. Chain sauce were working. Clearing trees that were in danger of toppling down on the power lines. Pg e is adding extra staff this weekend. And in San Francisco the sewer crews are clearing catch basins to prevent flooding. When it rains, that is our black friday. You know. That is when we are out there in full force working 24 7 to make sure that we are dealing with issues as they arrive. Traffic is back to normal at this hour but that is after a crash killed a wrongway driver in fremont. Ktvu janine de la vega is joining us now from interstate 880 where a couple of lanes were shut down over night. Janine, how does it look right now . Reporter all lanes of southbound 880 are now open but the chp still has a lot to investigate. A woman was traveling the wrong direction here on 880 for three miles before she crashed and her car burst into flames. Offices were called at around 12 30 a. M. After getting reports that a sedan had entered the southbound lanes of 880. But it was heading northbound just before thornton avenue it collided head on with a pickup truck carrying three men. The chp says the impact was so powerful that it tore the truck in two. The sedan caught fire. The female driver died. The three men in the truck were all rushed to the hospital with serious and possible life threatening injuries. Officers have not released any names of the victims. There is still a lot of investigating that needs to be done. How fast were the vehicles travel something why was the woman traveling in the wrong direction . And was alcohol a factor . A silent vigil is planned this morning in San Francisco opposing controversial new morality clauses in the handbooks for catholic schoolteachers. San franciscos archbishop released a document earlier this week that opposes homosex yule relationships homosexual relationships. The vigil starts at 9 15 this morning at st. Marys cathedral in San Francisco. There are reports that some oakland teachers are taking steps to express frustration over contract negotiations. The teachers contract expires in 2013. The chronical says teachers at 13 oakland schools are working only their contracted hours and no more as a way of drawing attention to the labor dispute. Now many teachers typically work extra hours after classes and the district and teachers are at odds over pay and sin yourty rule seniority rules. Several cars to 911 were made around 9 00 last night reporting shots fired. Police officers say they found evidence of the shooting. One bullet went through a window here but no one was hurt. Reportedly a chevy impala was found speeding from that area. We are hearing reports that a cyber attack may have originated in china. The fbi is leading the information into the Security Breach and sources familiar with the investigation say the cyber attack is being examed for possible ties to china. Social security numbers may all be compromised. Not medical records or credit card information though. Anthem now urging its past and present customers to monitor their credit and debt card accounts. Report any suspicious activity immediately, and change your pass words now. State attorney general Kamala Harris issued a consumer alert and suggested anyone suggested request a fraud alert. The black box recorders recovered from that transasia plane that crashed in taiwan it shows both engines lost power almost immediately after take off. The right engine lost power 37 seconds into the flight and then a pilot turned off the left engine and tried to restart it. But the plane crashed a minute later. Aviation experts are speculating the pilots may have mistakenly turned off the wrong engine. The bodies of 35 people have been recovered so far. Eight others are still miss examining 15 people survived missing, 15 people have survived that plane crash. 49yearold ellen broody was one of six People Killed in tuesday nights crash. Witness says as broody got out of her suv as a Railroad Crossing gate came down on her car and got back in and drove on to the train track. In the meantime full service on the metro line resumed yesterday. A woman drove her car off a steep embankment along highway 1 and lived to tell about it. It happened just before 11 00 yesterday morning. She was heading south when she drifted off the road and down the hillside. A passer by saw what happened and called 911. The driver did not want to appear on camera but told ktvu she is relieved the car came to a rest where it did. I hope this is not going to proceed into the water then im a dead duck. She said she escaped by climbing out of a window. Trying to teach their six yearold lesson in stranger danger. The boys mother, aunt, grandmother hired a man to stage a fake kidnapping because they think the boy is just too nice to strangers. Well this past monday after school that man lured the little child into his truck. I pot starts crying. He is told he is never going to see his mother again. He is never going to see his house. When he doesnt stop crying he shows him a gun. The man told the little boy he was going to nail him to the wall of a shed. He then tied the boy with some trash bags, put a coat over the childs head. Took him back to his own home and left him in the basement. Investigators say the little boys aunt took off his pants and told him he was going to be sold as a sex slave. According to police after four hours, the little boy was untied and he was lectured on stranger danger. The next day the child told people at his school what happened and they called the police. Deputies say the family members insist they were just teaching the little boy about stranger danger and they dont think they did anything wrong. All four of the adults are in jail. They are facing serious charges. That child has been placed in protective custody. Its not his first event its not his first offense. They are investigating a firey deadly crash in fremont involving a wrongway driver where one person was killed, three others were hurt. Janine de la vega is live this morning along interstate 880 in fremont. The crash split a truck in half janine. Yeah it did. Pretty incredible footage. Very devastating. A female driver in one of the cars did not survive. Three others are in the hospital. It happened all here on the southbound lanes of 880. You can see traffic is back to normal but all the lanes were shut down earlier this morning. The chp says at 12 30 a. M. A sedan got on to southbound 880 but it was heading the wrongway. It traveled northbound for three miles before crashing head on with a pickup truck around thornton avenue. The sedan burst into flames. The firefighters rushed to the scene to extinguish it and treat the victims. It was a mangled mess of twisted metal. The impact was so powerful that iter to the pickup truck apart. Upon collision, the cab of the truck the quad cab. The quad cab of the truck it completely separated from the chias city and the bed of the truck. It landed probably 1015 feet in front of the chias city. The female who was in the sedan traveling the wrong way died. The three men in the truck were all rushed to the hospital with serious and possible life threatening injuries. Offers have not released any names of the victim. One person was critically hurt after he was hit by a moon knee streetcar. This happened just after 10 00 last night. Also new this morning people around the bay area reporting feeling an earthquake just about two hours ago. We talked about that. One of our tweeters elaine let us though. It felt like a tree falling on her house. It was a 3. 1 magnitude. It hit about 3 44 this morning. So far no reports though of any damage or injuries but a lot of snow if you have any. Some people as far away as fremont and sunnyvale say they felt the quake. Carroll cole wrote us quote woke up here in emerald field. And vladimir says quote i was standing, putting on my pants and i thought my neighbors upstairs fell out of bed or a car hit our buildings. 33yearold carlisle was arrested for the attack that happened at a e89 only store. Oakland Police Sergeant tracked him down by analyzing a program that monitors the movement of sex offenders by their ankle bracelets. He was recently released from prison after being convicted of molesting an eight yearold girl in a San Leandro Walmart back in 2010. A Good Samaritan tackled him in the parking lot and held him before the police got there. This new charge could put him in jail for life. On december 1st a woman filed a complaint saying her daughter had been sexually assaulted at school. After that a dozen more students came forward. Now the school is promising a more open dialogue. Students are also starting a peer to peer program. Technology award show in San Francisco last night it attracted two separate protest groups. These demonstrators picketed outside of davey symphony hall. One patrol test group was made up of cab drivers demonstrating against Ride Sharing Companies like uber and lift. Why would anybody give a reward for Companies Going around and breaking the law . The other patrol test group says a growing number of highly paid Technology Workers are moving into San Francisco and forcing low income people out of their homes. The people who attended the show told us they understand the patrol test but they say the Technology Industry pumps a lot of money into the local economy and improves the lives of everybody. Gas prices are edging back up again after hitting lows we have not seen in years. According to aaa gas prices have risen about a dime in the last week. The nationwide average for a gallon of leg up to 2. 17 a gallon. In San Francisco its 2. 69. However aaa says about a third of the country still seeing gas below 2 a gallon. That has been good news for travel and tourism. Gas prices being much more reasonable has been great for the travel industry. Even in the First Quarter winter season. Travelers are more easily able to get out now and head to those close by local destinations. Aaa says prices are rising because production has dropped due to refinery shut downs and scheduled maintenance. Crude oil prices are stabilizing a bit which could keep a lid on any further price drops. Its interesting to think about the domino effect. There is a warning for students and staff at San FranciscoState University following a Sexual Assault on the campus. University police say early yesterday morning about 1 00 a. M. A woman was walking between burke hall and the Student Health center when a man pulled her into the pushes, pressed an object into her side and groped her. Some of the students told us they are reconsidering their habits now after that attack. I do carry around you know one of those little pink pepper sprays. So i will definitely make sure i have that in my hand as im walking home. Investigators say the victims saw the man sitting at a table outside the Student Center just before the attack. The only description we have so far is that hes in his late 20s, about 57, and was wearing a gray hoody and blue jeans. Two children are safe this morning but that is after being locked in a car for more than 12 hours. Their father was arrested in merced after people reported him breaking into cars, homes, and businesses. The next morning he woke up in his jail cell and realized he didnt know where his two young sons were. Police started a frantic search to find them. Officers found the mans truck with his children inside. They knew their name. They were in Good Condition but they were extremely cold and they were like pop popsicles when we touched them. 29 west coast sports include 29 west coast ports including oakland will be shut down because of a dispute.
