Am pam cook. Good morning, i am dave clark, lets check weather, steve, how is it looking. Pam looks fabulous that rain already and snow showers up in the sierra, maybe solano, contra costa, santa clara, monterrey and there could be in line for cloud build up, overall the main result is a cooler breezy day, 42 napa, 53 santa rosa. If you get that breeze that is held up, it being the low, if not, if it is calm conditions and probably much cooler, the coldest air is yet to arrive, i mean has that, snow about 1 to 5 inches in the higher evaluations above 6500 feet until that comes in, just right now scattered but developing here in the mountains, maybe even up there, later on there is low clouds around so we will keep an eye on that but overall a cooler breezy day. We will start off mostly sunny then get cloudies here later. Cooler, breeze in, fog south, showers, just kind of covering myself but overall more 60s and 70s on these temperatures today and kind of a cool breezy day, cooler. Here is sal. Steve, good morning. For the most part. We have a nice looking commute around the bay area as we go to the live pictures i want to show you 880 in oakland you can see it looks good in both directions, traffic is moving well from here in oakland down to hayward, also driving to the bay bridge toll plaza a light commute so far, no delay or a small delay before you get on to the bridge. Hayward we spoke about it, 880 southbound traffic road sensors showing it is moving at the speed limit with no major problems. We do have Police Activity this morning in el cerrito area near interstate 80, lets go live to ktvu reporter Claudine Wong, who tells what happened early this morning. Good morning, sal. We are on the central offramp interstate 80 right up the way. Let me show you what is happening here because it is closed while this investigation continues, the Major Accident Investigation Team right now trying to piece together what happened. What you are looking at right now is the under side of a minivan that literally rolled over from the top of the freeway down to where we are now. This all happened about 1 40 this morning and it actually started up the road at a construction site about a mile and a half back. There were two officers working that and intercepted cars and both heard it come by and as it did that it observed like you said had the flat tire and seemed to be just kind of veering around so they pulled in behind it to see if they could make contact and things happened right in front of them. It is still a mystery. They were sitting at that construction site and heard the sound of the flat tire, they said it was on the right side and then they said moments later before they even really had a chance to pursue the vehicle it hit the Center Divide and went over the embankment so it veered left and then it veered all the way right and came to a rest. Firefighters came, cut the top off the vehicle to get the victim out, that victim was pronounced dead there. A live look what you can see what you are looking at right now again the underside and the right front tire is torn up, they said they can tell it has been driving for a while but still they dont know why it lost chrome and why they were driving on that rim. This area may be shut down for a while as it continues, it is still unclear if they will have to do that but we will keep an eye on things for you and keep you updated here, live inner sear rite to, include dozen wong, ktvu channel 2 news. Also this morning a fire sent people running into the streets then. It started around midnight there. Dispute is now in its final hours, the strike deadline 11 59 tomorrow night, the pressure is on both bart management and Union Leaders to reach a deal. The bart contract talks set to resume again at 9 30 this morning. There are some signs of progress. Ktvus Tara Moriarty joins us now from the station with the critical negotiations set for today. Reporter yeah, well the heat is on like you said they have less than two days for strike a deal and there have been signs of progress. Both sides are no longer engaging in public mud slinging and experts say that is a step in the right direction, we want to mention last night he returned from dinner and told us they could get it done tonight if everybody wanted to, well obviously that didnt happen but negotiators on both sides appear to be making concessions and ex changing proposals. We have sat down with them and made minimal progress. Barts lead guy hawk says that progress has been slowed by joint contract items with them, meaning the two unions must reach an agreement on every bart proposal before even dealing with the transit agency. It makes it very cumbersome to try to move anything in a faster fashion. The atu is planning give members an update today at its monthly Membership Meeting so what about a possible strike . Well hear what the unions had to say about that possibility comig up in our next halfhour, live from the station Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. Many are taking a hard line in this dispute despite the progress in the contract talks. Last night about 100 bart workers and their supporters marched down oaklands grand avenue, they were urging barts Union Leaders to continue to fight hard for better pay and benefits, Union Workers are also calling on the public to support them in their battle with bart management but the prospect of another strike has outraged them. Holding people hostage, this is ridiculous, the people, the masses, it is unfair, this is enough. We we are we have had it. Recent polls show bart riders are very unhappy with both sides in this labor dispute but those same polls show they think bart management has made a better case than the unions. On saturday i actually drove there for the first time and now i no what you are talking about, that construction. A lot of. It a lot, so, i know, i can do that with them out there. We do have that developing there, you can see that there, some of it may drift back toward there later on. Generally though it is a cooler breezy to windy i think long the coast some of the Higher Elevations as the low drops down carving itself out here, 41 tahoe, so snow level around 6500 feet, not there now, we expect it to come down, 52 there, there is one 40 and that is take that back, there is two, napa and navato, everyone else showing 50s although walnut creek dipped there so no breeze and temperatures cold, if you have a breeze not that bad, the wind is picking up all of the place so far as direction goes it should be more there later on, west sfo, san jose southeast, you see that circulation there centered more toward that and in between sacramento and reno and that is where most of the shower activity or snow activity will be today you can see it is trying to get going a little bit there and turning over to snow but most of that there but i expect that later. There is a low dropping down this fast it is on its way and will give us a cooler breezy day, maybe a shower, this is the forecast, watch how this drifts back towards maybe there and then towards monterrey later. This is very iffy, most of it again east and south and will linger there today then it moves south quick, there could be a shower or two there on thursday, then it is long gone for us tomorrow but overall temperatures cooler today, fog to the south as well, a pretty big fog bank there. Showers, i will mention that just because these things have a way of popping up a little bit but overall a sunny day and breezy, 60s and 70s on the temperatures, i will look we will stay here on these, not much change on thursday, the lows even though it is sunny the lows cold friday and saturday but the days sunny and warmer. Good morning, pam, yes, one person has died in this roll over accident and it is still a little bit of a mystery about what exactly happened out here, let me show you what is happening there now, you can see the underspeed of the van involved in this roll over. This vehicle actually came down the embankment from interstate 80. You can see right up the roadway, so far this is not affecting traffic moving along interstate 80 but still unclear if investigators will need to get up there as well. This all started at 1 40 this morning. The Highway Patrol says they were monitoring the situation there when they heard a vehicle came by, they heard it before they saw it because they said the right front tire was flat, so both chp officers in two separate cars came out of the Construction Zone to follow that vehicle. They said they tried to make contact but before they could even do this or do that rather the accident happened. I am not sure if they had lights on but like i said they heard the vehicle, were going to try to make a stop on it but this happened like just a few seconds after they were behind the vehicle. Okay, so they didnt even have time to start pursuing. No, not really, they put out a Little Information on the radio and then all of a sudden it was like oh hit the Center Divide, occupy, went off the off the shoulder. The chp says it is clear though that that driver was driving on that flat front right front tire for a while because they could see damage to the rim. Firefighters came out here, cut off the top of the van to get the victim out but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Pack out here live, what is happening now is the chp had this team on scene taking measurements trying to piece together what happened. For now, this offramp remains shut down. You are welcome. All righty, good morning, everybody, we have a little change here. You can see the low favoring there and also well sacramento area and some of that some of that heading back towards us. There is patchy low clouds so partly sunny and cloudy and dealer and breezy unless you are there then you will get rain and or snow showers. We started the week off warm remember, yeah, thats right, most people have very short term weather memories but near 90, today we will do that, you can see the circulation around the low again some of that drifting back towards us kind of favoring the east bay and also there, San Francisco 66 today, 52 now, patchy low clouds kind of scooting around a little bit. I expect the north bay to be mostly sunny, partly to mostly cloudy probably for them. We are kind of caught in between that and getting the cooler drier air, 41 tahoe, so snow level there will come down a little bit and those are you temperatures in those areas, almost everyone in the 70s, the fog is thick there, it is kicking all over the direction and take your pick and eventually will go there, you can see the winds there, you can see the churning of the lows, so they increasing down there in those areas in line for possible snow, right now mainly rain, you can see that but areas where it is turning over, for us it just means a cooler breezy blustery day boot scooting fast so out and there probably by tonight or this afternoon so cooler breezy, areas of low clouds there, showers east and south, east and south, over although sunny to that, 70s or 60s, i think the wind though is the bigger factor later on as that low moves south unless there, then yes, you will deal with that, breezy cool, the mornings cold, just doing that but the days sunny and warmer going into the weekend.
