Reporter what we do know is this happened here at the entrance of 680 north and jacqueline, behind me Milpitas Police and chp are investigating because a Police Officer that was driving on the highway on 680 was rammed by another vehicle there. To get more information on what happened, im going to speak with Sergeant Tony tamm, with the california highway patrol. Was this done on purpose . We dont know. 4a. M. This morning, an unmarked Milpitas Police Department Vehicle was traveling northbound on 680 northbound near berryessa, truck from struck from behind by the ford bronco, the driver was transported to the hospital. He did have some injuries. We have officers en route to get a statement. We dont know what happened. Reporter we heard reports he had blood on him, the driver, he might have been injured beforehand, can you tell me about his condition . He did sustain injuries. As far as where, were still under investigation. Is he talking . Has he been responsive to police as to why he hit the Police Officers car . He was when he first got out of the vehicle, at the time he was being transported he wasnt. We dont have that information. Reporter hes being detained, arrested . Just transported to the hospital at this time for his medical condition so he can be treated for that and we have officers en route to get a statement as far as what happened from his version of the story. School is open today but district officials here are taking no chances. They beefed up patrols and we noticed a squad car on the other side of the building after the discovery of a threatening note found in a girls bathroom tuesday. We have blurred out the profanity but it read, i hate everyone at this school, watch me shoot everyone, on march 14, i swear to god. Some parents and students are apprehensive about attending, some choosing to keep kids home for the day and police are on alert in four schools. In tracy theres security at Kimball High School after two students found threatening graffiti in a girls bathroom. Not far away official also evacuated tracy high after two menacing notes including one about a bomb found in a boys bathroom. And the Fremont School district put thornton junior high on lockdown for a half hour because of a bomb threat. Fremont police are still investigating that incident. Authorities dont believe that any of these incidents are connected. Officials in pleasanton sent out a phone call and email explaining the situation and want anyone who might know who wrote that note to come forward. They say that they just want to help the students. Overnight a magnitude 4. 6 quake shook Sonoma County after 2 a. M. , 14 miles northeast of healdsburg. It was larger than usual for the area but not a lot of people felt it. The Sheriffs Department tells us it only took two calls and there are no reports of damage. An earthquake Early Warning system passed a major test in california. A Southern California earthquake Warning System just passed a major test. Monday that system gave scientists a 35second warning before a 4. 7 quake in riverside county. Construction is set to begin on a project to rebuild Lexington Elementary School in los gatos, located on Old Santa Cruz highway, demolished in the next few days and replaced with a larger campus. The new campus will be able to accommodate twice as many students and it will be earthquake safe. Pg e has been honoring a moratorium on installing smart meters in the stay, challenging customers the charge of an extra fee if they want to opt out. The city leaders want pg e to stop installing smart meters until the Public Utilities Commission Issues a ruling on the optout fee, the ruling is expected in the fall. Reporter pam, we know that two Milpitas Police officers were involved in this accident in an Unmarked Police car. You can see the chp is here still on the scene investigating. The accident happened in san jose but they caught up with the driver in milpitas at 680 and jacqueline, where the jacqueline onramp is. The Unmarked Police car that was just driven away, it was involved in this accident, this all happened just after 4 00 this morning, two Milpitas Police officers were driving northbound on 680 when a driver of the bronco hit the back of the car near the berryessa exit in san jose. Police caught up with the male driver at 680 and jacqueline, the injuries were not injured by the driver of bronco had blood on him and cuts on him. Its unknown if he hurt himself, if he was in a fight with somebody, or if he hit the officers car on purpose and got the injuries, the chp is investigating all this. Undercover or in full uniform, we dont know if its on purpose or an accident. Better safe than sorry. Reporter the driver of the bronco was handcuffed, being detained, hes being taken to the hospital. Later he will be questioned by chp officers. He was cooperative at first, were told, with police but later stopped talking and its unclear if that was due to the medical condition he was in. But right now, again, still on the scene, still investigating, again they want to be very careful about how they handle it because anytime undercover officers or even if they are in uniform they are not sure if somebody is trying to target them because they are a Police Officer. Its unknown if that was the case here. Reporting live in milpitas, ktvu channel 2 news. A man was arrested after trying to escape from deputies by jump the into the oakland estuary last night. Deputies spotted a stolen car at the oakland aquatic center. The driver took off leading them on a chase down the embarquadero before he hit a ups truck and got out of the car, jumped into the oakland estuary and started swimming. He then hid on a boat until he was arrested. Police in concord are investigating shots fired at two buses. Both incidents happened yesterday on clayton road. The windows on both buses were damaged, but luckily no one was hurt. Police want to know whether a pellet gun was used. So far they dont have suspects and no arrests have been made, if you have any information call concord police. An 8yearold girl is recovering from injuries after an accident yesterday afternoon. The girl was flown to Childrens Hospital in oakland, napa police have not released circumstances of the accident or whether the driver will face charges. Students and staff at San Francisco city college are planning to walk off college before marching to city hall protesting cuts being made to the school as it fights to keep its accreditation and balances a budget. Tomorrow is the deadline for city college to submit proof of finances to an acreditting commission, it could be forced to close if it loses status, a decision is expect the in june. 5 34. A policy to ease overcrowding in state prisons may be responsible for a rising number of sex offenders violating their parole. The San Francisco examiner reports the number of sex offenders who violated parole in california went up 15 since a realignment policy 17 months ago. Now were hearing that Keith Olbermann and currenttv reached a settlement in a 50 million lawsuit. That settlement was reached during a mediation session in San Francisco tuesday. We dont know the terms. Olbermann sued after he was fired last year. The Network Counter sued saying he breached the terms of his contract. If you cross the bay bridge before 10 00 on a weekday morning, you may see several cars pulled over to the side of the road and their hazard lights are on.
