New this Morning Police in oakland are investigating a crash. Unfortunately this crash ended up being fatal crash that happened at about 3 00 this morning. When this truck you see here collided with a car, one collided with another. Trying to get into the webster tube or at least trying to get on to broadway. This is a crash where a person was killed in the car there. This is right here on 880. Were working to get more details from police and well give you updates as soon as they come into our newsroom. They say hazardous chemicals are inside that building. And they are working to contain the runoff. The fire started about 12 30 this morning. Its on reynolds circle. Janine de la vega is there. A major drug smuggling bust involving bay area workers. 14 people have been charged in a marijuana distribution that went through the Oakland Airport. Tara moriarty is out there and is joining us live. Most passengers werent aware of the drug smuggling ring. They feel so much safer at airports these days. The problem is part of a broader issue. Since 2000 with what the start of the tsa after 9 11 i took they took a good step in the right direction. Being involved in the faa years ago this is a leap ahead. I think they are in the right direction. If convicted, the maximum sentence is 40 years and a 5 million fine. Congressman Eric Stallwell praised the fbi and Alameda CountySheriffs Office which handled the investigation saying quote with terrorist threats from isil, im grateful that local and federal Law Enforcement were able to Work Together to eliminate a potential security vulnerability. Police in campbell hope newly released Surveillance Video will help them find a man that tried to kidnap a tenyear old girl over the weekend. The video shows a honda accord making a uturn. The driver of the car grabbed the girl while she was walking her dog. She screamed and was able to get away. The suspect take a look at the sketch there described as either asian or latino in his 30s and wearing a black and white striped hat at the time. A 90pound Mountain Lion was tranquilized after roaming a neighborhood all day. That Mountain Lion was found in a tree near palm avenue and ninth street an area just a block away from busy el camino real. The first call came in at about 4 00 a. M. But at 4 00 p. M. The neighborhood was still on alert. Came by, saw this and couldnt even get into my street. I am hoping for the best outcome. I would not want to see them shoot it or anything like that. The commission established by gavin newsom is Holding Meetings to talk with issues relating to the possible legalization of recreational for and they will be talking about ways to protect children. Also today the San Jose City council will consider whether to to expand the deadline. But that could be pushed back to december 18th for those that dont meet all of the provisions. The regulations set limits on where and new dispensaries locate and who can run them and how they operate. Seven banks robbed in seven days. The active search happening now for a bank robber who police consider armed and dangerous. But first more threats from biker groups. Police say they are ready to fight back. The Department Says with the kind of high powered assault weapons out on the streets today, having an Armored Vehicle is essential. When you get to the bay bridge you will see slow traffic there. Fifth and broadway a good area to avoid in oakland because of a fatal accident. This is a look at 680 concord to walnut creek it looks pretty good. And look at the south bay. Where northbound 101 is the heaviest traffic near the capital expressway. Lets go back to the desk. Firefighters in san jose are dealing with a hazardous chemical situation. A fire burned through a building in a Commercial Area and its posing a possible dangerous situation. Ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega is out there now in san jose. So what is going on . Reporter in the last 40 minutes, dave, firefighters put up this caution tape. They are trying to keep the media away as well as any of the people that work in these businesses which is just off of zanker road. There is contaminated water with toxic chemicals and its just not safe to be close to it. Heres a photo showing the flames that shot through the roof. A bystander saw the fire and warned two workers that were inside at time. The smoke and flames were heavy and the fire grew quickly to four alarms. Forevers stayed on the firefighters say stayed on the outside. The crew tested the water and determined it was highly corrosive. Anyone that went through the water could have suffered chemical burns. So we are decontaminating all of those personnel. I didnt realize how big it was until i actually looked at it. And saw the Warehouse Stores crumbled and realized it had to be pretty big. How will it effect your business . We may have to cut it short depending if they say there is any chemicals floating in the air still. Reporter about 100 firefighters and personnel responded to this fire. We are told at least 45 had to be decontaminated. No one was injured but an Environmental Company has been called. Private contractor to help get this contaminated water cleaned up safely. At this point firefighters have blocked off reynolds circle. So it will effect some soft businesses here. Part of robinsons lane is blocked off because latter trucks are here on fire watch. They need to keep the road open for firefighters. There is still not a cause determine the of how this fire started because an arson investigator cant get in here and look around until all of this water is cleaned up. But we will stay on top of it. Contra costa county fire officials sent out a community alert. They have released surveillance photos that give a good look at the crimes in action. Ktvu fox 2 reporter brian flores is in San Francisco now where the fbi says the robbers are getting bolder. Brian. Reporter yeah to go along with that the fbi also says its becoming more dangerous as well. Were on the 200 block of california street in San Francisco. At this city bank and the suspect robbed this bank on april 2nd and robbed six other banks. Take a good look at the surveillance photos given to us at the fbi. They describe the suspect as african american. 6264 in height. He is known to wear polo shirts during the Bank Robberies and seen wearing a Bomber Jacket and sunglasses. Quite possibly has tattoos on each arm as well. The suspected robber has struck seven banks. And one of the banks usa bank on the 4600 block of Mission Street he struck twice. It is common when a robber feels comfortable doing the robberies. And i think that its also reflected in the fact that hes escalated from a knife being brandished. Reporter the fbi says at first he didnt have a weapon at the earlier robberies but has brandished a knife in two of the robberies and handgun in the two most recent ones on may 9th at a jp morgan chase. And then on may 14th at an East West Bank on the 3,000 block of balboa in San Francisco. Authorities say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information, you are urged to call either the fbi, San Francisco police, or Antioch Police and there is a 10,000 reward leading to arrest and conviction. Pam, back to you. The nfl reportedly has plans to change the way footballs are handled before a game. The nfl wants to avoid the possibility that teams can be tampering with footballs. Under the current rules footballs are sent directly to the teams. The balls have to then be delivered to officials about two hours before the game. And there is another hot issue on the nfl owners agenda. Team stadiums and former 49ers executive is expected to speak up on that topic. The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers have hired carmen policy. Policy says he hasnt been involved with the league for more than ten years but he still understands how the nfl works. He is expected to help push through the almost 2 billion plan for a shared stadium in the Los Angeles Suburb of carson. Mark davis says he wants the team to stay in oakland but he admits that may not be possible because his demands include the current coliseum being torn down. I dont want to build a brand new stadium and then have it be in a Construction Zone for the next 234 years. But that would leave the oakland as without a place to play. Yesterday during a News Conference quaker said Tobacco Companies cater to the teen market. A search goes on for a palo alto Flight Instructor accused of steeling a plane and disappearing with it. A major drug smuggling bust at Oakland Airport involving several bay area residents. An under cover agent tells me this problem is not just happening in oakland but across america where airline or airport employees that dont have to under go the same security measure as passengers are shuttling drugs. Coming up in 20 minutes how officials were able to capture a 90pound Mountain Lion after it roamed around the neighborhood for an entire day. But first its a prison with a billion dollar view so did consider relocating. Two whales that washed up in the past month in pacifica they are due to be buried today on that beach. The first whale appeared on april 15th right beneath maury point. Its an area commonly called pacifica beach. The first plan was to just let it decompose aboveground. But then a second whale washed ashore a couple weeks later. So now the city of pacifica and San Francisco rec and park which owns nearby sharp park they are going to bury the two whales because the smell is too much for the neighbors. A state lawmaker is calling for a change in the way Security Guards are turning. Outdoor concert in sacramento. It happened at discovery park. Watch this on sunday. Some say that the private guards went too far. You decide. You see a shirtless man throwing a punch and then several Security Guards jump right in. The Security Guard did that. Another blow to his head. Now assemblyman jim cooper is with the sheriffs department. He was once in charge of the security detail at oracle arena. He says this video is very upsetting. The Security Officers cant defend themselves. Once you restrain an individual, all hands are off right then. And they went beyond that so that was troubling. He says the video is an example of why california needs to update its Security Guard standards.
