Topping arethas we just received new information about a deadly shooting we first reported on last nights 10 00 news. There was gunfire inside a home on rancho drive in south san jose. Two people were killed. A third person was rushed to the hospital. Janine de la vega is outside the home where the shooting occurred with information about the shooters. Janine. Reporter Police Sources are telling me this deadly shooting does not appear to be random. They are working on trying to identity suspects. They believe there are two of them. This all happened at the home on rancho drive. Family members are inside. They are grieving 37 they are too upset to talk publicly. Police came to the scene at 9 00 last night after a woman inside the home called 911 to say there had been a shooting. When officers arrived they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman had also been injured in the shooting. Police say she may have been grazed by a bullet. She was take ton the hospital to be treated and being interviewed by police. We are told the victims are a father and a son and the woman injured is the sons girlfriend. Homicide detectives are looking at the evidence gathered over night and working on a motive. Its crime. We are really trying to do as much as we can. It is awful that someone came into someones home and did this to their family. Reporter police have not revealed whether or not there was forced entry into the home. This doesnt appear to be random. I have Learned Police have been called to that home in the past but its unclear what the calls were about. Authorities tell me the sop that is shot and killed was 29 years old and the father was 49 years old. This is the citys 27th and 28 homicides of the year. Just to put it in perspective, this time last year we were up to 39 homicides. So we are actually at a lower rate this year compared to last year. Janine de la vega choughs. Also new this morning San Jose Police are investigating the death of a person who was hit by a car while crossing the street. It happened at 12 30 this morning. Police say the driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The intersection is shut down but is expected to reopen in 30 minutes. San jose some homeless advocates are worrying that closing down a controversial homeless camp may spread the problem elsewhere. The city plans to shut down the encampment on story road. Nicknamed the jungle. The city has found permanent housing for 88 people that had been living there. 59 others may get housing as well. They are telling the mercury news there could be up to 300 People Living in that camp and many suffer from Mental Illness or addiction problems. Homeless advocates say if that camp closes down, the homeless may just scatter to other neighborhoods. Scientists at uc davis will spend the next week running tests on eight suspicious meat balls discovered here in the bay area. They are concerned that someone may have poisoned the meat balls. So far there are no reports of any dogs getting sick but the discovery has raised red flags among animal control officers in the santa rosa area. One thing leads to another in this circumstance. Could this be somebody doesnt want dogs in the area . Investigators say the meat ball found in santa rosa looks a lot like the poisoned meat balls found last year in San Franciscos twin peeks neighborhood. One dog died in San Francisco after eating one of the meat balls. Time is 6 06. Business owners want the city to end a moratorium on new restaurants along one busy street. Essentially what the rules do is limit broadway to just 28 food vendors. Originally that moratorium was designed to maintain a balance between restaurants and retail stores. At the time it was put in place three decades ago city leaders worry too many might turn it into but now a number of Business Owners say the moratorium is out dated. They want it lifted to satisfy a demand. This is a tough area believe it or not to do business in. Youve got high represents, and then youve got competition from food trucks that are coming down here. A veteran exiting homelessness will not stay with a young tech worker that has 750 credit score and the ability to pay several months in advance for rent. He says veterans can get information about the apartments by going through their Veterans Affairs social worker or the group swords to plow shares. Reporter i keep checking over my shoulder. It looks like just as im talking police are picking up the orange cones they had blocking the eastbound lanes of tully. Its not open just yet but it looks like police are about to open it back up. Its closed right now for a block. Theyve had officers investigating the deadly accident all morning long and happened right here at tully and le nigh. The accident happened at 12 30 this morning. A car traveling east on tully hit a man that was crossing the street. The man was not using the crosswalk when he was hit. St he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car stopped. It does not appear drugs or alcohol played a factor in this accident. Tully road is a very busy row roadway. It has been closed for about a block so police can conduct their investigation. They will be looking to see if the car was was speeding. At this. The coroner has already removed the body and the terror and they still have the road closed. It apierce they will open it up shortly. Police in four bay area cities are investigating what they say could be a professional crime ring. It started with the arrest yesterday of two men accused of stealing cars from two san mateo car dealerships. Besides san mateo cars have been stolen from high end dealerships in belmont, san jose, and santa clara. 19yearold marquis banks is facing charges. This Surveillance Video helped them break the case. The thieves can be seen break into the car lot and stealing keys in late august. The next night they came back and stole three bmws. The general manager of tracks who did not want to be identified says the car thefts have hurt his business. Its pretty much destroyed the way we do business here. It will probably take a few more months for us to recooperate. Police say six cars were recovered in oakland where the suspects were arrested. Police say they expect to make more arrests. Time is 6 34. Walnut creek police asking for help to solve a kidnapping case that according to investigators happened in broad daylight. Behind me is the bank of america where the victim this all happened just before noon. He demanded that she drive him to the bank of america. Here on north main street where she withdrew money. She walked into the bank, talked to a teller all while the suspect was standing outside. Police say the woman did not mention to the teller that she was the victim of a crime. It remains unclear why. But after that the two drove to the neighborhood where she was left unharmed. He sort of stood out. He stood out enough for people to call and report him as a suspicious person. But when those calls came in, the two events were not linked yet. We department get a call about the robbery until the victim got home to her residence. Reporter police say the only description of the suspect is that he was wearing a straw hat, sunglasses, and Something Else blocking his face. Police did not disclose what that was. Police do not believe the suspect and victim know each other. Reporter we are here at one of the public high schools that your student will automatically be enrolled with if they attend willy Brown Middle School for all three years. Willy brown is the new state of the art facility that is being built on a city block in the bay view neighborhood. They hope once work is complete on the facility, that students will come. But they admit they are worried students may not since it sits in one of the most troubled neighborhoods in San Francisco. Late last night, the board voted unanimously to come here and your student will be of id to any high school. Historically this was a low performing school before it closed. We really want to signal to people not only is it a new building, it is an entirely new faculty and student body. Reporter the high schools ha that are exception to the schools is left lane and arts. Some parents dont think this lucky Golden Ticket is necessarily fair and a lottery consider already considered problematic. We just spoke to worker with the Golden Gate Bridge district may be on strike within the next couple of days. A medevac plane was forced to make an Emergency Landing at the oakland airport. The oakland Fire Department says the planes nose landing gear would not come out. It had to land on its bellely just before 8 30 last night. No one on the plane was hurt though in that landing. An ambulance was brought brought in to take the patient on board to a hospital. As was previously scheduled. A man who was stabbed during a fight in concord has died. He was walking to a house party with a group of friends early sunday morning when they encountered another group of friend and a fight broke out. Uc berkeley is installing new smart lights that do more than just make it easy to see what you are doing. The lights can sense what is happening in the room and adjust heating and air conditioning. Csu will be hiring independent victims advocates at all of the 23 campuses.
