Steve, it was chilly this morning. Is it still chilly . It is. We are doing three way, four way, and five way chilly here. It wasnt the case yesterday. That fog was nonexistent. Inland temps it wont matter that much. We will get a cool down from that system right over my shoulder. Today patchy low clouds coast and bay. Generally san mateo and santa cruz. Lots of sun. Breezy at times. There will be patchy fog hold in court. Oakland starting off with patchy low clouds as well. 54 we will go for a high today of 68. You can see a little bit of that fog. It doesnt always show up until you get to 7 00, 8 00. There is definitely more there today than yesterday. Livermore is now 48. Have some very low 50s. Even the city at 49. 44 novato. If you notice it is cool out there. We are between systems. One yesterday, the next one coming in tomorrow. Today will be sunny and a little breezy. There is more patchy low fog there. Nice to mild on the temps. Didnt really want to go warm. There will be 70s inland. Here is sal. Steve, we have traffic that is going to be busy in some areas and i want to mention that if you are looking at highway 24 westbound, still looks very good. This commute has not been effected by too much. It is as we say still at standard. 24 from Pleasant Hill road to the caldecott. A little later on in the morning it does get busier. Right now it does look pretty good as you drive through. Bay bridge toll plaza has filled in. These metering lights were on. Its about a 20 minute delay. Nothing unusual about that at all. I do want to mention that traffic on the peninsula looks good in case you are trying to get to the airport 101 and 280 are still both equally good. Especially 101 through san mateo and palo alto. Once you get to 580 in the east bay, 580 is a little slow coming out of the livermore valley. And no major problems. Highway 680 interstate 680 is is back open after a high speed chase and crash caused big traffic problems for several hours. Ktvu Tara Moriarty was the first reporter on the scene and tara those pictures from there are pretty dramatic. Yeah they really are. A lot of people wondering if this suspect is going to pull through. We do know that all lanes of 680 southbound near the exit are now open at this hour and investigators actually spent four hours sifting through evidence now the area they are focused on is this hillside. That is where the banged up car ended up after it smashed through the guardrail. This all started last night in concord around 10 30 when a Police Sergeant was patrolling monument boulevard near highway 680 and noticed a person driving recklessly. When he tried to pull it reached speeds up to 100 miles an hour. The suspect lost control on 6880. He was not ejected from the car but sustained major injuries. A cash to the head we are told and transported to the hospital in Critical Condition. Police say the driver is 19 yearold Michael Holden of concord and he stole the car. Its a rabbit in walnut creek from someones house. Because holdens injuries were so severe, the Major Accident Investigative Team is out here. The District Attorneys Office is also part of the investigation. Well let you know if you receive an update about the suspects condition. The reason why so many investigators are involved in this crash is because if holden doesnt live, then the county and Law Enforcement need to prepare themselves in case of a lawsuit. The fire apparently started at the window of a clothing store. Alex savidge is live at the slash denim store on College Avenue. What is happening out there now alex . Firefighters have left this scene here. They have wrapped up their investigation and the small fire was contained just to the front area of this clothing store. The owner just told me she has been in business here for the past 35 years. You can see the fire burned right through the front wall of this store and the window sill area. This fire started at 4 30 in the morning. We will show you the scene. This is on College Avenue near russell. Crews moved in and quickly knocked down the flames here. Again a very small fire and they were able to keep the flames from spreading to the rest of the store although there may have been water damage done to some of the clothing and the mer chance dice inside the store. The assistant fire chief told me it was a 7eleven clerk that works across the street that noticed the fire and called it in before it could get out of control. Because the clerk was on his job and saw the fire really minimized the damage to the building. It would have been in a lot worse shape. A fire investigator was out here gathering evidence, taking a look aft the area where the fire started. Trying to figure out what the exact cause here was this morning. So far they dont have an exact cause but the assistant fire chief told me this fire does not appear to be suspicious. Live in berkeley, alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. Time is 6 07.
