The flooding. Cars were damaged. We were just told that at least a halfdozen homes were flooded as well. We went inside one such home and talked with an elderly couple. They showed us 34 feet of water sitting in their basement. It is unclear what caused the water line to rupture enablers neighbors are telling us it is happened before 2 other times. There was a tremendous amount of water flowing down the hill. We had over 3 feet of water on our street flowing like a river. We called 911 3 times and it took them 30 minutes to arrive. People on that side, their basements get flooded every time. This is the 3rd time they have been flooded. Couldve been corrosion or land movement. We dont know in the pipe started leaking. It had to of been for a while because it caused a sinkhole and what we are going to do when we clear the area and dig out the pipes, we will cut out the section that failed and take it back to our offices to analyze and see what caused it to break. Reporter we talked with one man who lives in this neighborhood. He told us the Rushing Water coming down his street was so deep this morning he had to be rescued by firefighters. We also spoke with another driver who happened to be coming up montana street this morning as the Rushing Water came toward him. He tried to drive through it but his mercedes stalled in the water and he had to have a car towed. We will bring you here to a live picture. A number of cruise on scene beginning the repair work on this 16 inch water main that ruptured here this morning. You can see its going to be a slow painstaking process and as you can imagine, it will take several days according to east bay mud to get this work wrapped up. This morning is being Police Released the final report on the death of shelley and they say her husband paul is responsible for her death. But they dont think it was premeditated. The report says theres evidence paul intended to kill himself shortly after killing his wife but that he changed his mind after coming up with a plan to dispose of her body. Police say he went through with the plan to kill himself after body was found. The report says the 2 had been fighting over money issues and shelleys alcohol use. A warning for parents, a man acting suspicious around schools. There have now been 2 incidents reported at or near schools in san carlos. Police have released a sketch of the man. Further south police are searching for a man who claims to be an undercover officer and tried to lure a female student into his car. It happened around 8 40 pm wednesday night in the parking lot of the anza college. The student says she was walking to her college when he said dont walk alone and get into his car. She was able to get their own car safely. The mans car was described as a black latemodel fourdoor bmw with heavily tinted windows. At uc berkeley all onsite social activities for fraternities and sororities have been suspended. This after a string of reported sexual assaults and other crimes. This week is the 25th anniversary of the Oakland Hills fire in which 25 people were killed and 100 were injured. In todays flashback friday we have a look at some of the reports and dramatic images of that 1991 firestorm. Fried years of droughts caused an explosion of the fire. The biggest one to hit in memory. 30 Miles Per Hour winds flames swept down along the Oakland Berkeley hills. 5 people died when the fast moving flames consumed one home so fast the occupants could not escape. A 6 death was reported. There are reports of as many as 10 dead. It began as a grass fire around noon on saturday. 12 Engine Companies and 3 trucks on the scene. The California Department of forestry helicopter dropped 500 gallons of water. It appeared to be out. What you are looking at is ground 01 hour before. Everything looks under control. At the lower end of the canyon firefighters were also working on a hot spot.
