This development is part of a collaboration between the nonprofit mercy housing california and the city of San Francisco. This complex has 70 rental units set aside for low income families. And builders are now breaking ground on another building that will have another 120 Affordable Housing units. Thats set to open in early 2018. Now one of the families that lives here in this building told me they were forced out of their place in the Western Addition when the landlord raised the rent. Ive seen so many homeless people. I feel for them. Laying on the streets. Sleeping in card board boxes. And i feel like i am blessed not to be in that situation, you know. And maybe we can get more of these things happening in San Francisco. This development was funded in part by proceeds from californias cap and trade program. Which charges companies for their Carbon Emissions and this is the first time were told that those proceeds have been used here in San Francisco to help fund Affordable Housing. Today Richmond Police announced the results of a two month investigation into several rooms at the marina bay inn and suite hotel on west cutting boulevard. The drones would be used to respond to emergencies, assist in investigations, and improve security. The five departments considering the drones are the city controllers office, the fire department, the Public Utilities commission, the port of San Francisco, and the recreation and parks department. San Francisco City users have been debating the use of drones for more than a year now due mostly to privacy concerns. San franciscos acting police chief tony chaplain reportedly among the 11 finalists for the permanent job. The Police Commission widdled down the list of 61 applicants to the top 11.
