This country, i think most people do not understand the level of violence everybody day against the Lgbt Community. Its amazing we can get married now. But if we can get married and we are still being assaulted and killed, then it doesnt mean very much. This country needs to take violence against the Lgbt Community seriously. Orlando was only the most extreme example of the violence and bullying and harassment that we experience every single day. No shelter in place was ordered and no injuries were reported. In East Palo Alto, Building Permits for several Major Projects are now on hold because there is not enough water. According to the palo alto online, those big projects include 120 unit Affordable Housing complex, a private School Funded by Mark Zuckerberg on University Avenue and an Office Building on east bay road. They are allowed two million gallons of water a day, but they need a million and a half more a day. The city is asking for more water. It also wants way for other cities that are not using their full allotments to transfer their extra water to East Palo Alto and other cities that may need it. All right. According to court papers, lavish gifts were given to the commanders in exchange for taking official police action. , today we allege two separate and serious criminal schemes involving the bribery of officers who were sworn to uphold the rule of law. In one private citizens we allege spent over 100,000 for all manner of official Police Actions and in the other officers subverted Public Safety by putting hard to get gun licenses up for sale. The gifts were from influential businessmen, and also arranging arrests and make tickets disappear. It was spotted by a lifeguard saturday night. The Fire Department which oversees the citys beach lifeguard says the shark was 250 yards out into the water and was near lifeguard tower 1. The lifeguard told fire crews he saw the sharks head come out of the water once and then he saw the sharks tail. People in the Placer County city of rockland are urged to watch on their small pets. There is a big snake on the loose. Its a 10footlong python. The owner says its yellow and his name is banana jim. I dont know. I love it. There is probably a story there. He saw it last on friday before it escaped from a locked cage. He placed posters around the area. The snake will eat cats and dogs. It hunts small mammals and can eat a chihuahua. Its been well fed. All right. In San Francisco a part of the great highway is expected to be closed for the next ten days because starting today crews will remove more than two tons of sand that has built up. San francisco fire and building inspectors returned to the scene of a devastating fire from over the weekend. Residents who were displaced were also hoping to return to salvage any belongings that might have been spared. Ktvus brian flores reports. Reporter well, the main question remains unanswered. What started this large fire that damaged six buildings on saturday afternoon . The damage you see secs tensive and we are is extensive and some apartments are complete losses. Surveyors arrived at about 8 30 in the morning to inspect building integrity and to see if there is anything salvageable. For some residents that lived in the building on 29th, some were allowed two at a time to retrieve belongings. Those in the single residence hotel, they have to wait to tomorrow to get their belongings. Now, according to the department of building inspection director tom huey, the buildings where Cole Hardware was and the one to the left will have to be emergency domallished because demolishinged because of the damage. We want them on the hotel. Get them clear from the Health Department to make sure of the asbestos in that building. Its unbelievable to see that has been at the heart and soul of our business for 25 years fall through the ground, literally, as it has. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. All of our employees here have been relocated and are now working in our other stores. So i guess were blessed in that sense. Its a pretty horrendous thing. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire on a roof deck if the city yesterday afternoon. Fire Officials Say it broke out after a barbecue grill fell onto the deck near at t bark. The pilot was killed after his small plane went down onto the transfer tracks near a bart maintenance yesterday. The pilot whose name has not been released was the only person on board. A man says he ran to the crash site and pulled the pilot from the wreckage. He did not want to give us his full name. There was nothing else we could do further other than hope we could have got him out sooner. Unfortunately, in this case there was nothing else we could do for him. No one on the ground was hurt. Its not clear why the small plane went down. The crash briefly interrupted bart service. A man is behind bars this afternoon accused of trying to stab a san rafael woman to death in her backyard. Investigators say this attack happened saturday morning at the victims home on vendola drive. 40yearold Charles Tooker police say had been dating the woman and the stabbing followed some kind of an argument. The woman suffered stab wounds to the neck and the back and we dont have an update this afternoon on her condition. Two north bay mothers are taking action after discovering shocking evidence of their childrens drug use. Like many parents, they thought their teenagers were immune to the social pressures of drugs and alcohol. As ktvus ken wayne reports, now they are doing something about it. Reporter what these two moms found on their childrens cell phones left them stunned. When we see the kids doing what they are doing and wearing it almost like a tattoo, posting it all over social media, it was really heart wrenching. Reporter they learned their teens were going to socalled skittles parties. Taking prescription drugs and posting pictures. They dont know what theyre taking. Grabbing a handful of pills, chugging vodka. Someones gonna die. Reporter the party trend may have shocked these moms, but not the nursing director of Critical Care at petaluma valley hospital. We are concerned about this growing trend of teens nearly every weekend in our emergency room in little petaluma that are having a drug or alcohol issue. Reporter opioid abuse is a growing problem across the country and is part of the teen party scene in smaller middle class communities like petaluma. Kids look at prescription drugs in a way unlike other drugs. Well, its prescribed. Its got a purpose. A health purpose. So it might be okay for me. Reporter the parents are now keeping a closer eye on their teens, including having complete access to their electronic devices. Their online exposure is significant. There is a ton of crime occurring via cyber, and parents got to get up to speed. Its very, very tough. Reporter they have given their teens random drug tests. The kids need to know that we care, that we are not the jerk parents. We are trying to bust them for this. They need to know that were on them, you know . We want them to be successful in life. Reporter they recently started a Facebook Page to share their lessons with other parents. Its called petaluma parents against drugs with almost 700 followers. I dont want to react to a kids funeral. We have already lost some really great kids. Unless we take a stand now and everybody understands what a problem this is, we will lose more. Reporter they are talking to schools to educate teens about the reality of drug use. Especially prescription drugs. There is some drugs that we can give an anecdote to if we know what they are. When they come in unconscious and we dont know what theyve taken, its hard to be able to treat them. If you are in a situation where you see a bowl of pills or a ton of alcohol, you got to be smart. They were found living with a man in festerville. Many neighbors were concerned about what was happening inside lee kaplans house. They were off the grid. Nobody ever knew about them. Reporter police searched through the home. 12 girls living in the basement in a philadelphia suburb ranging in age from 6 months to 18 years old. A tip on thursday led officers to this feasterville, pennsylvania home where they arrested 51yearold lee kaplan. The kids were living in the basement on air mattresses. I guess they were homeschooling the kids because there was some homework found down there. Reporter kaplan is accused of sexually assaulting the oldest child, who Police Believe was given to kaplan years ago by her parents. Her parents have also been charged. Mr. Kaplan had her living there as a repayment for a financial situation. Reporter neighbors have been suspicious about the home for years, and even called police three years ago. I had no idea that there was 12 girls living in there because he only let three out at a time. Even that was very limited. Reporter kaplan and the children are briefed be amish and were rarely seen in public, but this time neighbors called police because they were upset about daily trash burning in the yard. What kind of call did they call that they saw . Amish people . Thats the call we got. We didnt get child abuse calls. Reporter these living nearby are in disbelief. I have three kids. Its so upsetting to know there were so many girls. We have seen them. You know, they watch us while our kids play in the backyard. Its just so upsetting to know they are not his kids. Relative humidity is expected to drop down to 15 , which is critically dry. The northwesterly winds, i am seeing a gusty at 35 miles per hour. Very hot, very dry. It burns hotter. It burns faster. As we know, the winds not only push the fire, it also helps to start new fires. So they definitely are going to see this and its not going to change.
