15yearold vallejo girl kidnapped at gunpoint earlier this week. The man suspected of abducting pearl penson was killed during a shoot out yet. Alex is live. What did they have to say . Reporter good afternoon to both of you. I asked how likely it was that pearl is still alive. She told me its quite possible thats why theres an intensive search continuing this afternoon. The man was last spotted here in morin county along sir Francis Drake boulevard. His car was picked up on a Traffic Camera. Thats why authorities last night searched for evidence in and around the bay waters near the richmond san rafel bridge. That search turned up nothing. Now investigators are following up on other leads in the case in hope of finding pearl. They will launch additional sefrjs today. The 15yearold was kidnapped from a freeway over pass in vallejo. Investigators believe she was taken by 19yearold fernando castro, a young man that she knew. Knew. Now after an amber alert was triggered yesterday castro was spotted in santa barba county and in the end he was killed during a violent shoot out with chp officers. Sheriffs investigators say the suspected kidnapper now being dead makes it all that much more challenging to find this missing teenager. Teenager. It can complicate things because we cant interview him and find out more. D find out more. We have a team of dedicated investigators that are working around the clock to bring pearl home safely. It makes the Community Involvement and information they can provide us that much more crucial to the case. He case. Reporter witnesses to that kidnapping early wednesday morning reported seeing a man dragging pearl away from that freeway over pass and at the time she was bleeding and screaming for help. There were also reports of shots being fired as well. Pearl was on her way to school when she was taken. Was taken. Now, if you have any information on where pearl might be, theres been a hotline thats set up by the Solano County Sheriffs Office. Call 7077841963. Again, as we come back out here live in morin county, this was just one area search by authorities because they had information that the kidnapping drove through this area. They did not find evidence of pearl in this particular area. You guy, we understand that additional searchs likely will happen elsewhere in the bay area and beyond throughout the day today. We have to standby for that and have full coverage this afternoon. Aleck, what relationship if any the two may have had is still unclear, right . Reporter it is still unclear. Investigators refer to the two of them as acquaintances. Clearly they had met prior to that. How close of a relationship they had, that remains unclear at this point. And what motivated this young man, the 19yearold, to take her at gunpoint, that also remains unclear too. And just because we didnt see her in the vehicle in that one particular picture that the Traffic Camera caught doesnt mean she couldnt have been under a blanket or maybe in the back of that car as well. The search could be extensive. Be extensive. Reporter right. That was something in my conversation with the sheriffs official that she pointed out here. We have a pretty wide potential search area here because were talking about a kidnapping case that began here in the bay area and ended down in southern california. California. So you have so much area that potentially you are going to have to search here. So theyre trying to narrow it down. I understand they are receiving quite a few tips, quite a few leads. They are following up on them. They are trying to figure out which of these leads is in most solid so they can find another location to search and hopefully bring her home alive. At spam. Com the search continues for a third suspect believed to be connected to an attack that left one teenager dead and two others wounded. This as two others are in police custody. Christian captain is following the developments on the search. Investigators are still looking for one suspect after two dramatic arrests yesterday afternoon. Afternoon. Come out the front door with your hands up. The morin county Sheriffs Office stormed the apartments yesterday to take one suspect into custody. That one coming out without incident. Investigators are not saying what led them to that hunt. They arrested another suspect earlier in the day. Now the hunt is on for the third suspect. Deputies arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting and stabbing that left one High School Teen dead, another hospitalized. The thought of him being in that casket and how i would want that funeral and that military honor to be performed and to look is kind of one of the main things that getting me through each detail and keeps me grounded and keeps me focused on how i want this. Every funeral im thinking thats my grandfather that im laying to rest. Were doing Something Special by giving. It is what gets them through the difficult moments. The emotions will always be there. Its human nature. How we display them is what we strive not to do. We wear no name tag. When we show emotion thats bringing attention to ourselves for that day and for that moment its not about us. Bout us. Just because you dont see it doesnt mean theyre not feeling it . Absolutely. You start think ing about about your own family and that really hits you at the heart. You do your best for them. Best for them. Weve had at times where airmen have cried during the ceremony and it just happens. It happens but they work through it. Through it. Then they practice for the next one. Memorial day keeps them busy but it is a day they look forward to. Its a bit humbling obviously. Its everything. Its the one day that , well, not only do we shine but, i mean, all those that came before us shine. The whole nation pays respect for it. Wed love to see the flag out every day for every service member, for every fallen remember but memorial day that i guess probably brings us a little bit of joy to know that everyone is remembering the fallen that have come before us. We just hope they understand that it took a lot of time to practice and, again, this was a fraternity that their member was a part of and hopefully something that they can be proud of.
