Street. This march actually began at Civic Center Plaza and thats where rob malcolm visits us live with the latest. How is it looking . Reporter the crowds are moving out and marching down Market Street. They came from other rallies held in san jose and oakland. The womens marches, of course, have a very strong message for washington, d. C. With the dome lid up in pink, many carried colorful signs and the language was as colorful as many spoke out against donald trump. He doesnt have a man date to just bowl over and not think about womens rights, minorities rights, immigration, the lgbt community. E he doesnt have a man date to just not respond. The majority were anti donald trump. They rallied against rhetoric and were still hoping for change. The crowds of the civic center barely had room to move. I believe in equal rights. I believe in protecting our earth. And i work for the School District and i believe that children deserve the right to education. While the signs carried very personal messages, plenty of thought went into what was written. I was looking at quotes the other night to make signs and maya angelou said believe people when they show you who they are the first time and i believe he has shown us who he is. It is important fortous be out here and show our representative, our congress, and who we are, what we think and ask them to do our jobs and represent us. Reporter and back here live, the police are still trying to manage this crowd and move these people along. It has been loud. It has been colorful as they are right now marching down Market Street to Justin Herman plaza. As for a head count, it is hard to tell how many people are out here, but wed have to say in the thousands. Guy . You cant see from your Vantage Point but they are still all along market, all the way down to Justin Herman plaza. So many thousands of people out there. Has it been pretty peaceful . Reporter you are going to have to repeat that, ross. I can hairly hardly hear you. We want to make sure it is peaceful. Have there been any arrests or violence . Reporter it has been very peaceful that is the interesting thing when you look at the size of these crowds that nothing went awry and the police did a good job of managing this crowd and keeping everybody calm and peaceful. And thats basically what a lot of these folks are looking to do this afternoon. Rob malcolm reporting live for us in San Francisco. Thank you. Thank you, rob. In washington, d. C. , city officials and organizers say half a Million People turned out to protest the new administration. Here is a look at the crowd from overhead. So many people came out that it was too con guested for people to actually march there and they had to wind their way through side streets. Celebrities ranging from madonna spoke to the crowd as did californias newly elected senator camilla harris. Even if youre not sitting in the white house, even if you are not a member of the United States congress, even if you dont run a big corporate super pact, you have the power. [ applause ] there were also huge numbers in other cities. More than 100,000 people turned out in los angeles as well as new york city, and as many as a quarter Million People attended the event in chicago. Many of the protestors in washington traveled hundreds, even thousands of miles to take part in the demonstration there. We have caught up with an oakland woman who said she could just not pass up the chance to be a part of such an important and historic event. It is very heartening and inspirational to be around so many women and the men who want to fight for change for the better. Reporter and the friends made signs and wore pink caps as they took part in todays march. The idea for womens march took off after a number of people posted on social media and the hours after trumps election about the need to mobilize. Hundreds of groups quickly joined that cause. The sheer number of people coming into oakland and San Francisco for those marches required a lot of patience from bart riders and coordination by badder employees. Lee martinez joins us with some of the transportation issues at the bay area that the bay area experienced today. Definitely a lot of crowds out there. I can only imagine how hectic it was. Reporter it is likely that bart made a lot of money today. There were long lines getting into bart as well as long lines trying to get out of the station as well. The last estimate that we had was at more than 150,000 people rode on the bart system today and they even had to add six more trains. Reporter most were here for the same reason. And took the wait in stride. And there are so many people that we cant even tell if the march has started. Were at the end and more people are coming because you cant really tell if it is moving. Good morning and welcome. Exits in either direction. Reporter bart station employees had to help out more than usual. It has been crazy. It is extremely crazy, but it has been wonderful. Reporter an estimated 20,000 people exited the station today for the womens march in oakland. I thought we were early, so i was a little bit surprised that there were that many people from the get go. Reporter bart had an average 20minute wait at each station. It didnt seem to bother rider whose were not here to march. Probably a half an hour. The energy of it is great. I think it is wonderful. Reporter and mcarthur station in oakland had to stop people from overfilling the platform. Today it is probably more than like 10 to 15 minutes at best. Reporter but the riders say they appreciated their fellow marchers cooperating with bart employees. It was good. Everybody is being nice and cooperative. Reporter and once outside in a sea of other pink hats and sign holders, the number of bodies on oakland streets forced several local roads and highway 880s northbound off ramp to close. The tens of thousands of people at the oakland womens march did not create any incidents, according to law enforcement. Reporter it looks pretty quiet out here now. The bart Officials Say they will be metering ridership again dont here at the lake merit station. Just because theyre anticipating a large crowd coming back from San Franciscos march as well so they need to make sure not that many people are on the platform at once. Hopefully they all have it together. Everything is coordinated and ready to go and nobody will have any problems moving forward. Thank you so much. More than 600 marches were held across the country and around the world. An estimated 100,000 people turned out in london in front of the u. S. Embassy, and they say they felt it was important to know that they have global support. And in paris, thousands of people marched and the ifill tower. The event was organized by more than 40 separate feminists and antiracist organizations. A number of people held signs of helping the right wing french politician and in berlin, hundreds demonstrated a the gate. Protestors listened to speeches against trump. From there they say theyre hopeful because so many people are taking part in demonstrations like this around the world. We have much more on the marches coming up, and also you can see much more at ktvu. Com. And lets turn now to our other big story, this weekends storm, and were in for another wet weather system coming on shore now. Were here to break it all down for us. Mark . We have been advertising three storm this is week, and the one moving in now is the third one. Lit pack quite a punch with rainfall and gusty winds, very strong winds setting up. Lets take a look at the satellite and you can see that frontal system approaching our coastline right now for tonight and into sunday. Rainfall expectation also be one to possibly four inches for the coastal hills. The winds can be gusting to easily 50 miles per hour, possibly up above 60 miles per hour, and if youre near the coast today, you probably notice there is extremely high surf. The high surf warning in place until 3 00 a. M. Sunday. We have right now, this begins at 10 00 tonight, a wind advisory for the bay shoreline and also up in the north bay, the winds can be gusting over 50 miles per hour. That is in place until 10 00 a. M. On sunday. A high wind warning for the coast, the hills and for San Francisco. The winds gusting to possibly over 60 miles per hour. So down trees, Power Outages, that will be a big concern as this next system moves in. Also, flash flooding possible as well so we are calling this storm three, and essentially for the entire bay area, we are covered here with this green shade here to reflect a Flash Flood Watch in place. This begins midnight until 6 00 p. M. On sunday, but the heaviest rain moves in as we head into early sunday morning. Some Flood Warnings in place to our south and also the Flood Warning for the southern portions of Santa Clara County to reflect the possibility of some flooding out toward the creek. And so here we go. The rainfall has been increasing in coverage over the past few hours. Nothing too extreme just yet. We are essentially covered up in the north bay for santa rosa. They have been reporting moderate to heavy rainfall, out toward San Francisco, oakland, extending out toward the east bay, and the south bay and especially the santa cruz mountains. The rainfall rates are picking up quite a bit over the next three to four hours as the frontal system which is offshore gradually moves in. The wind speeds are ramping up. You can see the winds up there topping 10, approaching 20 miles per hour, so an increase in the winds, coming up, well break down the most intense downpours over the next 24 hours and also talk about finally a drying trend in the fiveday forecast. Well have more on that in a few minutes. Thank you, mark. Tonights rain is causing big concerns, especially in one San Francisco neighborhood, still trying to clean up from that huge mess from the last round of rain early yesterday morning. The storm drains backed up sending raw sewage into the street and into some homes, and Monty Frances is live in the Mission Terrace neighborhood with more. Monty . Reporter it has been raining steadily. Many of these personal items will have to be thrown away because they were contaminated and that is because 36 hours ago the street was covered and a in a mixture of rain water and raw sewage. This is what it looked like early friday morning when the storm drain lids came loose and water gushed into the street and into at least a dozen homes. Already this weekend, it is raining again. Were expecting another event. A catastrophic, if not more. You have the valuables inside, so all of this is contaminated now. The city has to replace everything. Reporter since the water contained raw sewage, everything has to be thrown away, including family momentos that cant be replaced. And the water is about this high. Reporter edwards parents have lived on the block since the 1960s. This time there was about a foot of water in their basement. And it causes problems for everybody. Thats tomlin thing im concerned about, especially my mom and dad are sick right now. Reporter dona marias family has lived here for 30 years, and she says the street has flooded at least half a dozen times since 2004, and the city has paid contractors to help clean up but she wants a more permanent solution. It is concerning because anytime there is even a minimal rain, less than an inch, rain, our neighbors are already on high alert that is no way to live. Reporter the citys Public UtilitiesCommission Says the neighborhood is in a low lying area and that a permanent solution would cost taxpayers more tan 2 billion. Meanwhile, the neighbors are living in fear of the next storm. And the sewer lines are real old. And they try putting new pumps. They have been working in this area for a couple of months. Day and night they have been working and still the same problem. The same thing. Everything gets flooded. And this is one of the storm drains that overflowed on friday. We can hear a very loud roar of water, so people are nervous about what might happen this weekend. The problem is the source of two lawsuits. One was settled, and the other is still pending, and were told that none of the people who were affect tabid flooding on friday have flood insurance. Wow. And we are our hearts go out to those people. We have this over and over again. That is horrifying. This time around because of that raw sewage. Has anyone gotten sick . Reporter well, we saw the crews here today and theyre dealing with the aftermathment theyre helping the neighbors. As we said in the story, the permanent fix would cost 2 billion, according to the citys Public Utilities commission. There is no sense or in the immediate future that that is going to happen. We heard that, 2 billion that is a lot of money. Thank you. Monty frances. Thank you. Prolife advocates took to the streets of San Francisco for the 13th annual walk for life west coast. The organizers say the event started 13 years ago as a way to show people their there are other options for women instead of abortion. And they met at the market and then walked their way to Justin Herman plaza. The march is held every year usually around january 22, which happens to be the anniversary of row v. Wade, the decision by the u. S. Supreme court to legalize abortion. Coming up, an amazing rescue in italy, the avalanche survivors pulled out one by one from a mountain of snow. A total of nine people have been pulled out alive now from the rubble. The rescuers say there is an air pocket in one part of the hotel that allowed them to breathe. As the protest overs descend on major cities across the globe, donald trump begins his first full day as commander in chief. The president started by attending the president ial inaugural Prayer Service at the National Cathedral and delivering remarks at the cia headquarters in langley, virginia. After an unprecedented feud with the intelligence workers mr. R where mr. Trump once likened them to nazis, he then told agents im with you, quote, 1,000 . And then standing in front of a memorial of agent whose died in the line of duty, mr. Trump delivered a rambling message about the press who he claims to be inaccurate reporting of the inauguration crowds. A spokesperson for the former kay cry director john brennan says brennan is deeply angered and angered at his display in front of his cia Memorial Wall of agency heroes. He says that trump should be, quote, ashamed of himself. And meanwhile, President Trumps press secretary also accused the media of false reporting on the size of the crowd of the inauguration. Reporter the. The photographers were intentionally framed in a way none particular tweet, to minimize the enormous support that had gathered on the national mall. The National Park service does not release crowd estimates, but many Media Outlets showed side by side photos showing the relative size of the crowds during the 2009 inauguration of president obama and President Trumps swearing in. Spicer did not answer questions but he did say he will give his First Official briefing on monday. Marchers nearly worked around the clock for the last 24 hours making their voices heard showing strene st in numbers. An estimated 60,000 people took to the streets in oakland. And amongst the crowd and we have more on their message to the new administration. Reporter marchers say theyre watching every move the newly gnawinged President Trump is making and they dont like what they see so far, and they say they have a message for him. And same thing. Reporter the organizers expected 28, 000 to show up but the crowd estimates there could be been twice that many who laced up their shoes and took to the streets. You see the crowds fill ing into the main route. And so many people that at times these marchers couldnt march. Marchers say they felt compelled to come out, have their say, and in some cases bring their children to show what theyre marching for. We are trying to teach him is that the good guys do win, and that we need to stand up for ourselves. We need to stand up for people that are less fortunate than us. Lets go, ladies reporter some expressed hope that somehow their message would reach President Trumps ear. My hope is that he hears that message and starts to incorporate some of the rest of us into what hes doing. I dont necessarily know that that is going to happen. Reporter others have a more blunt message. Watch out. This cant stand. This is not going to stand. We will not let this happen. The marchers made their way to the plaza where they rallied, organized and pledged to continue to speak out and march. In oakland, christian captain, ktvu, fox 2 news. Decent weather at that march in oakland earlier today but another round of rain is coming. And our meteorologist is monitoring all of the heavy rain that were expecting for the weekend. Yes. So much has already happened this week and this is the third storm in auto series that will definitely impact the weather in terms of impacting the flood potential and Power Outages as well. Get ready over the next 12 hours. Thing also be changing quite a bit. As you can see, the radar coverage has been increasing over the past six hours. Lots of light rain reports. Probably moderate rain as well, essentially covering a good portion of the bay area, San Francisco, oakland, and down tiger woods san jose and santa cruz. This is kind of setting up the storm. As far as the significant weather, it is not here yet, as you can see that very well defined circulation. You get a low that tightly wound up, that indicates thing also be getting windy around here in the bay area, especially if youre looking out toward or across the bay bridge. Be extra careful because the wind also be ramping up. We talked about the high wind warning. The winds are be gusting over 50 miles per hour. The rainfall, easily one to four inches and the sierra will pick up snowfall. As far as the potential impacts here in the bay area, the coastal hills pick up the most, but most areas in general about one to two and a half inches of rainfall, and were going to have two surges of moisture moving into the region, one for overnight into tomorrow and once again into sunday afternoon, so the Russian River could be just below flood stage as we head into monday morning. Napa river, thankfully should be cresting below flood stage. Periods of rain, strong winds and the chance for thunderstorms lining up here as you cant see the heaviest as you can see, the heaviest time willing be monday morning and as you head into sunday afternoon as well so we do have this significant weather pattern to talk about for tonight into tomorrow, cool showers on monday and then finally a break by wednesday and thursday so good news. We get a chance to dry out. Thanks a lot. We know youll be following it for us all night long. Absolutely. Well be right back after the break. Jason joins us now with sports.
