Fortunately no one was hurt. Public works officials tell us the problem appears to be root failure. The blackwood acacia tree was planted back in the 70s. Now to new developments on a story that captured the countrys attention almost 22 years ago. New evidence may have been discovered in the o. J. Simpson double murder case. Today a new twist in the so called trial of the century. The lapd will soon begin analyze ago knife that was reportedly found several years ago at simpsons former home. A construction worker found the knife and handed it over to a retired Police Officer who was work security at movie shoot nearby. Tmzs harvey levin tells us the lapd only found out about this knife when the officer decided to frame it. He wanted to get what they call the dr number, the number for the murder file for Nicole Brown Simpson and ron goldman, sew called a friend of his at robbery homicide and said, hey, can i get this number bick eve got this knife, and the gay at robbery homicide said, are you kidding me . Keba arnold joins us from the newsroom with more details about where this happened. Reporter heather that construction worker reportedly found the knife during demolition of simpsons former home. This was years ago. That person turned it over to a motorcycle Police Officer who happened to be work security for a film crew right there in simpsons brentwood neighborhood. So right now the lapd is analyzing that knife for a possible connection, any connection to the june 12th, 1994, stabbing death of simpsons exwife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend ronald goldman. The weapon used has been a mystery for decades. In october 1995 a jury found the football star not guilty on both counts of murder. And now a captain with the Los Angeles PoliceDepartment Confirms that they got this new knife within the last month. And now that retired officer told investigators that construction worker gave it to him back in 2002. The construction worker says it was buried there on simpsons property. But instead of turning over the knife right away the officer kept it for years. I was really surprised. I would think that an lapd officer, if this story is accurate, as were being told would know that any there is time you come into contact with evidence, that you should and shall submit that to investigators. The lapd is looking into whether criminal charges could be filed against that now former officer who held on to the knife. The Goldman Family released a statement to nbc news that says being a victim survivor is an ongoing process for all those impacted. We cannot validate every claim with a discussion as it only creates more unnecessary hype and encourages the media circus. Now, a couple more important legal points here. First the Murder Investigation is still open because no one has been convicted. And even if this knife is linked to those killings, simpson cannot be charged with murdering a gain because of the Legal Protections of double jeopardy and also, heather, simpson is current in prison in nevada for that 2008 Armed Robbery and kidnapping conviction. This is certainly a bombshell of a development in that case. Thank you. A former Alameda CountyDeputy District Attorney worked with the prosecution on the o. J. Simpson trial. Rochne harmon tells us it wouldnt have added much because they already had the glove. The glove had the victim and o. J. On it. So the glove over here with all three peoples blood on it, the knife buried somewhere else with all three or just the two victims, it has to me hat the same probative value, so i dont think it really adds very much. Harmon worked as a dna expert during the trial. He says there has never been a case with as much dna evidence as that one. On ktvu. Com will you find more on these latest developments including video of this mornings news conference. Look for the thumbnail near the top of our home page. Nothing to hold the water. For us urban and small stream advisories. You could see did he before he flows and things like that in the mount tam watershed. This is nothing unusual. This is what happens in the bay area in the winter, and you had a el nino, and here you go. But the thing is, monday, tuesday, wednesday. If it werent for that i would be saying, id be working this weekend. But seriously, we would have major river flooding. Shouldnt be an issue with those breaks. Good, bill. Thank you.
