Assemblyman david chiu demonstrated how fast a mass shooter can reload with certain militarystyle assault rifles. The weapons in question are called bullet button guns, because with the press of a button the magazine de attaches and can be quickly reloaded. He coauthored a bill with mark levine and phil tang that would ban the sale of such weapons in california. The california state law left this loophole that the gun manufacturers creatively took advantage of and now theyve sold many guns that include these socalled bullet buttons that allow for a rapid reload. The socalled bullet button guns were used by the mass shooters in San Bernardino and in the massacre in aurora, colorado. San Francisco Police are investigating a number of attacks in the citys mission direct this week. Tonight weve learned that the Gang Task Force is now getting involved. Middleaged men are stabbed multiple times by the group made up of 18 to 25yearolds. They survive the brutal gang related attack. As you can imagine, it was violent, they were outnumbered, basically a mob attacked the victim. Its not unheard of or its not rare to hear. That. Even though a camera captured a picture of the gunman suspected of killing a man on bart last weekend, some passengers are concerned about the lack of surveillance. Bart insists its Security Camera system works well but bart Police Acknowledge today that not all of the cameras work all the time, and some of them are not even real. Officials say they have a safe layered Security System in place and are committed to making it even better. When you compare 2015 over 2014, we have 10 fewer serious crimes on bart. So we have a good trend in that direction. The bart general manager made those comments today before the agencys board of directors. The young man killed saturday was riding a train pulling into the west oakland station. The gunman is still at large tonight. California regulators slapped you know we are a 7. 6 million fine today, and the ultimatum, pay up or take your drivers off the road. Uber says will pay the fine but will appeal the penalty. The California PublicUtilities Commission says uber failed to provide information that would help regulators determine if drivers were discriminating against riders. Like i say the breaks are good. These systems are progressive which is helpful. We have done analysis on the Russian River and the napa river and rainfall potential, some of the forecast numbers. They will come up he is special next week but well below flood stage. Those are the things you start thinking about when you get rain after rain. These rivers are starting to rise up. Russian river, 25 feet, well below flood stage. Thats at the end of this series of storms which could see half a foot of rain. It seems every year were talking about the napa river, guerneville, Russian River. We havent had a run like this. Four years of drought, and all of a sudden were getting rain, rain, rain, rain. So now the Russian River watershed is 70 square miles. So that water is just trickling down the river. On sunday and monday that system is significant. I think the rivers will pop a bit as we head into wednesday of next week. Thanks bill. California governor jerry brown has issued a dire warning if the state doesnt take action on a new water plan. He said what the state has now, reservoirs, conservation, and capturing rainwater is outdated and isnt enough to meet the states growing demand. The governor is pushing for a 15 billion project to divert water from the delta to the Central Valley and southern california. If we fix it, we can have water and fish. If we dont fix it, there will be far less water. There will be destruction of salmon and other fish habitat. The governor also added that partisan politics could derail his plans.
