San franciscos supervisors are considering a new proposal to charge a toll for driving down the crooked part of lombard street. We know its one of the citys most popular Tourist Attractions and often overrun by visitors. We spoke with tourists and residents to see what they think about the toll idea. Reporter its known as the worlds crookedest street, this one block stretch of lombard street with tight turns and pretty as a postcard views but its created a neighborhood nuisance in recent years bringing traffic backups and traffic concerns. To help ease congestion on the weekends and especially in the summer theyre proposing a toll. Drivers would make reservations and pay through fast track, although how much to charge is still being studied. The point is not to eliminate tourism here but to manage it, so people can live in the neighborhood and the surrounding neighborhoods and have a normal quality of life. How much would you pay . I wouldnt pay anything. I doubt if i would pay more than 5. If it was more you would just turn around . I think maybe. Reporter residents we spoke with seemed lukewarm to skeptical. How do you resolve the problem of friends coming over for lunch or family members coming to visit . Reporter turning a toll in a city street would first need approval from the state legislature. Then the citys Transportation Commission made up of members of the board of supervisors would also have to approve it. And the city is also looking into what to do about all the pedestrians. Two million visitors a year, double what they get, we have zero infrastructure in place. It would be at least two years away, and the money would go to neighborhood improvements. Fox 2 news. In Southern California theyre going to get wet all day tomorrow. So heres the story. Weve got tomorrows system, weve got weekend, which is a break and then youve got more rain coming in monday and tuesday next week. This is the storm were focused on now. It has an impact on that morning commute as it gets going, as it comes in here from the south. Look for the morning commute to be a bit wet. Its not wet out there now here, but you go south down by point conception, its already wet. Thats where the real rain will be over the next 24 hours. Theyre going to get significant rain as i pointed out earlier. Maybe five inches of rain in the San Bernardino mountains. Suffice to say morning commute wet drive, windy, there will be some breaks. But its friday morning commute. And then it kind of lingers until 11 00 or 12 00 and then it migrates off. The afternoon commute, there might be a few sprinkles. Morning commute wet. Maybe a half inch in the heaviest spots. Maybe a little more but most a quarter inch to a half inch, kind of like what we saw today. In the mountains, you get a winter storm warning up there.
