Later when we interviewed a chp officer we ran into the mans girlfriend and she was talking to one of the officers. We dont know exactly what went on between the two of them or if she was involved, but we know she was meeting with them and discussing his condition. He is at San Francisco General Hospital and they are trying to figure out what went wrong. That is terra moriarty at the bay bridge. There was another traffic backup. A truck overturned at southbound 238. And happened at about 11 30 am. The ramp has been shut down ever since to remove the truck and clean up the acid. We were at that News Conference today where both Jasmine Abuslin and her attorney, john burris talked with reporters. Early wednesday morning the Oakland City Council agreed to pay her 998 thousand dollars to settle her claim. Abuslin, the daughter of a Police Dispatcher is a former prostitute. Police officers from the bay area exploited her and had sex with her. On wednesday she expressed relief. She says she wants to go back to school, become a veterinarian, and move away from the scandal. I am glad i can close this chapter and move on with life. It has taken a toll on me or. Reporter abuslin at first thought no one would help her. She walked to the streets as a sex worker. I did not think anybody cared about prostitutes. [ crying ]. I am very grateful. Reporter several Police Officers have been charged with crimes and last month she testified against an Oakland Police officer. Abuslin claims that the police chief new about the abuse and did nothing. Other officers talked about her and that she was a sex worker. People were passing her a round like she was a kickball or something. Reporter the attorney from for abuslin was asking for much more. I never came up with those numbers. Reporter her Attorney Says it was in the best interest of the city for the matter to be resolved quickly. The city is now working to resolve the trust issues. Reporter many want to make sure this never happens again. Abuslin still has suits pending against other counties for alleged misconduct by police and deputies there. Supporters of the proposal say that students were losing valuable class time so they can participate in practice. They say the lights will bring noise and other problems to the community. They want to investigate it but at the same time things are not happening in congress to take care of very important issues that the American People care about. In the south bay some Say Developers should be required to hire local workers and pay fair wages. Reporter as new Construction Projects go up in san jose, local workers say they are being let down. A lot of work goes into the shops. Anyone that works into these jobs should be able to live in the market theyre working in. But there is no requirement that contractors hire locally. Often times they will bring in workers from other states. Places far away from here. Those workers are put up in a hotel or the even state in the construction zone. Local unions say this has been going on long enough so they want to draft a new islet measure that would require developers to hire locally and pay market wages. So any contractors they get any kind of a public break are required to give back to the community by providing good quality local jobs.
