In the south bay, closing arguments are set to begin in the trial of Antolin Garcia torres, accused of killing sierra lamar. We are live at the courtroom today. Reporter it was emotional. In the last half hour, court adjourned and the prosecution did not finish their closing argument. They are going to resume it tomorrow. The prosecutors looked at Antolin Garciatorres and said, sierra lamar is dead and this man kidnapped and killed her. Inside of a packed courtroom, the depeut District Attorney showed the jury of two home videos of sierra lamar just a few days before she disappeared in march of 2012. The most emotional moment, a 911 call from her mother, saying, i think that shes been abducted. A lot of tears were passed around. It was an emotional day. Reporter cameras were not allowed inside. The prosecutors showed the jury photos of sierra lamars jeans, they said the only way to explain the dirt on them is that she was dragged. The reason why her body is not able to tell a story is because of this department, they said, do not reward him. They kept saying, it was him that did this. Reporter the prosecution said the only trace of sierra lamars body was in Antolin Garciatorres car. His attorney had no comment outside of the court. The District Attorney is anticipating the arguments of the defense and they are knocking the arguments down before they are made so the defense is going to have to be very strong, very emotional in the way that they start their closing argument. We are at cal with more. Some of the departments are looking for reimbursement. Reporter freedom is not free but in berkeley, its getting very expensive. Last weeks protests over ann coulter racked up half a Million Dollars in overtime for police and other Law Enforcement agencies. University Police Needed assistance. In recent months, berkeley has become a hot bed of protest and political activity around free speech. Thats overwhelming the resources of those departments. Reporter there was a large presence of lawrnlt and there was no violence but the county Sheriffs Office ran up an 80,000 bill helping out and now they want the money back. We entered a memorandum of understanding with the university that they would reimburse us the cost of our officers. But this was a planned event. Reporter in unan planned emergency like the deadly oakland warehouse fire or an act of terror, mutual aid is provided without expectations of reimbursement. The problem is, every time there is a protest on campus, it runs up a tab. Nobody is profiting off of doing this, its probably costing departments like ours money and time and effort. Reporter the University Said the cost of such protection is justified given its role to education and protect the staff and students and to provide that forum for free speech. Thank you tom. I do not know the definition of hot, but its hot. Especially in may, 93 and 94 degrees, today, warm. Tomorrow, with that spare of air day, we get back to another hot day. The reason for the heat is the ridge of High Pressure going up the coast. When you have a ridge like that, all of the air under it sinks. Now you have temperatures in the mid 70s in richmond and golden gate park. There is a bit of fog offshore. That fog will be back here tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening, that cools the coast but its definitely staying warm inland. Right now. 92 in concord. 97 in walnut creek. Its the old question, rest or rust. If you look at the first two games of the regular season, it was a close game when they played each other. But then the warriors pulled ahead. The jazz do not have the capacity to match the warriors if they get a run going. Rue depose depose is gobert is a shot blocker.
