He made off with an ak47 being repaired hours later office hers spotted the same suv used in the incident near the corner of 68th avenue and boulevard in east oakland. The Oakland Police swooped in and detained several suspects. The cameras were ruling rolling when the atf detaibd this mab at the scene. They scoured the suv for evidence. This is another instance where the Police Department partners in collaboration without side dptsz and agencies. The atf declined to provide details. But their involvement signals federal charges which could lead to longer sentences if the suspects are convictedded. Walter forward the owner says hes disturbed by what happened to have Somebody Just think they can just take it, really bothers me because ive worked hard my whole life. The federal government is handling the burglaries. The bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms declined our request for information on whether the suspects could be tied to other gun story store burglaries and thereof been several. Today we take a look at the m. O. Of the burglaries and what gun story store over owners are required to do to prevent gun thefts. The burglaries this morning were not only similar to each other, they resemble 7 other Gun Store Burglaries throughout Northern California that happened in just the past five months. In february a gun shop was targeted by four teenagers but they were arrested. On march 3, four suspects tried to break into an a gun store but gunt couldnt get in. The same night the same suspects later burglarized another gun store. Three weeks later three suspects hit a sun shop in san carlos. In april two suspects, and a month later they stole 100 firearms from a rock land store and seven days later three bugger laster tried to burglarize two separate gun stores in oak grove. In most of the cases the suspects ram into the stores front entrance with a vehicle. This is Surveillance Video from pet leum a gun store robbery in march. They ran the car into the store. The suspects climb over the security gate and steel steal guns that are not locked up. We reached out to all the Gun Store Owners in the bay area to find out what if any was taken, but in each case either the Gun Store Owner or managers told us their policy is not talk to media. So we looked up the california penal code to find out what procedures and security measures Gun Store Owners must have to prevent thefts. California lawses says a gun dealer must do one of the following. Store the firearm in a secure facility at the licensed business location. Secure the firearm with a steel rod or cable through a trigger card that is locked or shak eld or store the firearm in a locked ire fire proof safe or vault. Not all of the Law Enforcement revealed how many guns were stolen from a particular store and what were still waiting on the inventory from this moderns mornings burglary. We do at least 144 firearms were stolen from gun stores in the last five months. Now, there is speculation that there is a black market for guns and that the guns may be even moved out of state, but local Law Enforcement are telling us they dont know where these guns are ending up. A lot of guns were talking about here. Do police think the same suspects could be responsible for some of these other burglaries . Reporter well some of the Law Enforcement that did get back to me and talk to me about some of the burglaries that they had, they said at this time theres no indication that these cases are corrected to each other, but again they dont know where these guns were supposed to be ending up. So until they find out where the guns were going, i think its going to be a little difficult to find out if these suspects were involved in the other ones. Thank you lee. Alameda county sheriffs deputies have detained a person of interest in the deadly shooting of a man who was stopped at an intersection this afternoon. It happened in unincorporated hayward just before two this afternoon at meaning land avenue in blossom way. Sheriffs deputies say the victim was stopped at a red light in a red dodge pickup truck when a man approached him and shot him. The gunman then ran to nearby Railroad Tracks and disappeared. Sheriffs deputies have been searching along that corridor with k9s and helicopters. They did locate a suspect not but not found a weapon. 9 victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men who shot a guard in windsor and led deputies on a chase are being held without bail. The two suspects were arrested after the chase that followed the robbery and the shooting yesterday afternoon. The other suspect, was found hiding in a kul vert several hours later. Fliers were also reported a few blocks away at clayton streets. I walked up and down the street to see if i could see if they had ever door and i didnt see any other fliers. I think this flier is one person whos off base, trying to get a little media. Theyre a dying breed and in this town im not sure theyre going to get a lot of new recruits so i just laugh it off. A Funeral Service was also held today for dallas transit officer brent thompson. The 43yearold officer was a annual newly wednesday married just three weeks before his death. Thompson leaves behind six children. He is the first dallas transit officer to be killed in the line of duty in the agencies 27 year history. And Sergeant Michael smith was remembered today as a family man who had an up beat attitude and compassionate approach to others. He was married with two dawft ergs age 9 and 14. He also served with the dallas Police Department for 28 years and former army ranger. He was 55 years old. A plot to kill Police Officers in baton rouge is still being investigated and authorities are looking for a fourth suspect. Three suspects are in custody following a burglary at a pawn shop over the week emed. The men are accused of stealing a total of eight guns. Police say one of the suspects told investigators he was looking for bullets to shoot officers in the baton rouge area. A fourth person involved in the burglary once again is still at large. How excited are you about these first images . I know the High Resolution images dont come out for a few weeks yet but how excited are you about what youre going to see . Were pretty excited. Mostly what were really excited about is the cameras are working great and all our instruments are turned on and seem to be working pretty well. Of course, the space craft is on its way away from jupiter right now. Were on a 53day orbit. So we wont get up close and personal until about august 27 and at that time we hope to have things that will knock your socks off. Jupiter is big. Its 100 times denser, 1,000 times denser than the sun which would mean its graph takings nal pull is pretty in sentence. The concern might have been that juno wasnt going to pull this off. It would get into that field and maybe something would malfunction, is that correct . So our biggest worry was the radiation environment of jupiter. Its 300 times the mass of the earth and its 1,000 times the volume of the earth. But to go with that it has this really big strong magnet inning field and has radiation betle. High Energy Particles trapped in that field and our space crafts in order to go into the orbit we want and do the science we want have to dive into that region. It has to go through the radiation betle in the region where we havent sent space craft before. So we were pretty confident we designed everything right and chose a place the radiation wasnt so strong it would damage anything but july 4 when we first went into orbit that was our First Experience doing it. So were relieved everything worked the way we expect it had to. Thats a victory. Thats a win for nasa and now were waiting for the High Resolution pictures to come in and i was reading on some of the stuff you guys are planning and juno camera really isnt part of the scientific exploration really. Its more just sort of a Public Relations deal because people want to see the first pictures from jupiters orp it orbit is that correct . So juno cam is an education and out reach camera primarily. Yes well get some science from it, but the main reason its on there is to engage the public and to let people learn about jupiter and to use it firsthand. So if you go to our website, which is mission juno dedu you find which pictures juno cam might take and have a say which pictures they should take at jupiter and the public will be invited to join discussions and eventually the public will be invited to vote and will use that in put to help decide which pictures we take with juno cam when its actually at jupiter. The single most important thing that i want to get from juno over all, is to measure how much water there is in jupiter. The reason we want to do that is it will teach us an enormous amount about how jupiter formed and how the whole solar sister tim system formed.
