A swarm of police cars came into the gas station. He locked himself inside and had no idea what was going on. He watched as these men were arrested. As far as the 2nd car, we believe it was detained somewhere past martinez in contra costa county. That according to an officer from chp who could not be on the record. They did say they captured the 2nd car and dont know how many people were detained or arrested. We do note there were several people arrested here. All of this is still unfolding and we dont know why this gunfire started. When we were talking to officers, they said, this is yet another through 8 shooting. We dont know if the cases are related but we are taking them seriously. It just keeps happening. And they need to put a stop to it. This is crazy. Its mindboggling. It is fortunate that no innocent people happened to be driving along and were hurt. It sound like there were a lot of shots fired. Reporter yes. Very lucky that no one was hurt. When we heard there was another shooting, i thought there was going to be someone who is either caught in the crossfire or someone who died as a result. Thankfully there were no major injuries. We have not heard of reports of anyone being hit. We dont know if those people who were detained were injured, we dont know there was not an ambulance here that we know of. We are waiting for more details. We are thankful that no one was here seriously hurt. These are dangerous situations. Its one thing if it happens at 1 am when there are not that many people on the freeway but this was at the height of the afternoon when people are on the highway. Thank you. This afternoons shooting comes hours before Pittsburg Police go before the city council with a plan to put cameras along highway 4. Its in response to 2 fatal shootings since last month on the highway. There are surveillance cameras on city streets and in parks. Now police want to add cameras to cover highway 4 following to shouldnts shootings. This is the monitoring room at the Pittsburg Police department where video from 120 cameras is recorded and stored 24 hours per day. Police can also tap into another 100 cameras owned by private companies. After a crime occurs they can then find video footage of vehicles leaving the scene and then track license plate information. We feel that quickly getting cameras on the freeway the cover all of the lanes of traffic will be a huge benefit to the citizens of pittburg. The chief says some of the assailants in the recent freeway shootings know that there are no cameras along the highway. Investigators say there are other factors that make these cases challenging to solve. For example he will dont hear gunshots at that speed. Casings might stay in the car or fallout miles down the road. And the shooters make a quick getaway because they are on the freeway. We are doing for that that for the community. It started about 3 hours ago with the shooting on antioch city streets. Police say 2 cars fled onto highway 4 and police made an arrest at a gas station on bailey road. Now live at the shell gas station. What else have you learned . Reporter all 4 people are behind bars in connection with this shooting. It thankfully ended without anyone getting seriously hurt. It started around 3 pm. Police say 2 people in a black jack wire fired several downed rounds with a rifle and a few cars were hit but no one was in them. But then that jed where and another car sped onto westbound highway 4. Witnesses said the cars may have been shooting at each other. That is something being investigated. The jed where exited onto bailey road and ended up at a shell gas station. Drivers are on edge after hearing about this. I am on a wing and a prayer. I dont have any enemies i know of.
