Fire crews battling a wildfire that has led to the evacuations of thousands of residents. It has consumed 4000 acres. A firefighter called it a beast. Officials say they may be reaching a turning point as cooler weather and light rain moved into the area. Flames have destroyed about 24 hour homes and other structures and forced more than 80,000 people to evacuate. Officials say that two teenagers died in a car accident during those evacuations. How miraculous it has been to evacuate the area in such a short time. Unfortunately we lost two fellow citizens. Officials hope to provide a schedule in the next two weeks for evacuated residents to return to their homes. Those pictures are just amazing. Lets bring in our chief meteorologist. Have you ever seen anything like that. 8000 people being evacuated . Not anything went on last week. It was a multiple day event. Where were you during the Oakland Hills fire. I was in santa rosa. I remember it well but even that was that happened quickly in a day or two. This fire, we are talking about three or four days of people evacuating constantly. We are heading to that time of year. Once we get to these months we are worried about fires because the rain stops for the summer. So for us today, it was a little bit warmer in some places about the same in others. More sunshine today. You probably noticed that. The pattern outside right now is conducive to that coastal fog and you see it here. And that is leaving very cooler residents out in the Golden Gate Park. Out in morin green and breezy by four point and it is setting up like a spring pattern. You have the fog. The heat and the warmth inland, fairfield 72. Tomorrow is going to be warmer and then warmer still as we head to your wednesday and thursday. Live camera outside. Beautiful day, 48 overnight tonight in the north bay and one of the cooler spots and note, not that cool, almost 50s. So temperatures starting to come up and days getting longer and weather systems with us. Last week we had rain a couple times last week and the rain showed up on saturday morning. This week we will be dry and this week we will be warmer. Tomorrow starting off with temperatures in the mid and upper 70s and maybe a low 80s. As we head to wednesday and thursday temperatures should peek. A warmup for the week, not a fire danger week but warmer than it has been for the last few weeks and theres the fog forecast for tomorrow morning about two a. M. And kind of see it about 8 00 a. M. And fog takes a pretty good push inland. And then it burns off by 1 00. San francisco patchy fog with temperatures like these. 68 for San Francisco and 73 in oakland. 80 in brentwood. And a little warmer on wednesday and nice looking forecast. And it is allergy time. Grasses and weeds starting to come on and trees still there. Not as heavy as they were but the trees out there blooming away. As you look at the forecast, the fiveday forecast, we are looking at 70s, upper 70s on tuesday, warmer on wednesday and temperatures should pekin here wednesday and thursday. No rain in this five day. It would be nice to see that. Fog a constant play and that keeps temperatures there pretty cool and the fog has got numbers down in the upper mid 50s and thats like it tomorrow. When you think about the fire season this year, what do you think . I think we live in california, i think it is still the 4th year of a drought even though the rain was okay and it is every fire season no matter what happens frank and julie in terms of rainfall will be the biggest fire season. It is the nature of the state. The history of california is fire. Fire and earthquakes. San francisco burned down five times in the 1800s. Fires are a big deal. What do i think . I think there will be stories and we will talk about the different angles and no matter how much it rains or doesnt, it is california and it is like earthquake. Something to take seriously. It is always a big deal, yes. Always will be. All right. We will check back with you, bill, thank you. Steph curry about to join a list of the best players in nba history. The elite company he will join when he gets his second straight nba award this week. The bay Area Real Estate agent accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from her clients. The charges she faces. The new report comparing the cost of super bowl city to how much money it actually generated. That story and more coming up at six. Warrior fans better get the mvp chants ready again. This was it last year and today we learned that steph curry is going to be name the mvp for the second consecutive year. Not much of a surprise given the season he had and curry will join a short list of players for back to back mv p awards. Lebron james and larry byrd have won consecutive mv p awards. Mark ibanez joins us now. The nba will announce it tomorrow. I was just going to say all of that. You never run out of things so say about steph curry. Warriors has not had an mvp since Wilt Chamberlain and this is the first time they had back to back mvps. Thinking that the official announcement will come tomorrow. The nba is mysterious when they will make it official. Leading the warriors to 72 wins is a record and the nba leading score and hit 402, threes and one of the remarkable achievements, he averaged 30 points a game and averaged playing only 35 minutes a game. Nobody has done that. A point a minute and steph curry, it is nice seeing these highlights because we havent seen him out on the floor in so much and thats the next question. Will he play in game four . Thats the question and the news is positive and maybe not as quickly as we like it in the quick information but for all intents and purposes. Steph curry a 50 will she 50 goal and update the from doubtful to questionable. And this is footage up in portland getting ready for game four and hold a two game to one lead and stepf played in three on three and moving quite well and not ready to pull the trigger. If he does play tonight it will be 10 or 15 minutes to work him in gradually. Lets hear what coach kerr had to say. He played a good three on three yesterday and came out feeling decent this morning and he will get treatment and we will talk to our doctors and medical people and take a decision this afternoon and go from there. All right. So upgraded, doubtful questionable to oops. Maybe they will leave him on the maybe list but if they need him, they can stick him in for a little bit. When we were looking at the high lights, you forget he has played over a half in the nba playoffs and talking about the warriors, this is about the most disjointed they have been. They have played arguably the worse game of the season on saturday. Energy wise, they didnt look inflow at all. It will be a test. Stepf or no stepf a lot of question marks because they did not look good on saturday. They had a 21 lead and they would like to finish it off on wednesday. Specifically about that game on saturday, your right, they didnt look that good. We would have thought that portland would not be that tough of an opponent but turning out to be tougher than they thought given that. When you lose a player of steph magnitude, you can make it for a while. They won four games without his services but in the long haul you start seeing Shaun Livingston is not a starting guard and you see other cracks and compensating for it. Shortterm not a big issue but it is catching up with the team now. Thank you, mark. Not only are speaking warriors in the playoffs but the sharks are too. If they beat nashville the sharks will advance to the finals. The western conference finals. It would be the first time they made to it western conference finals since 2011. Governor brown says after several dry years we have learned our lessons and wants to make the lessons part of People Living in california. We have more of what the governor wants the big agencies to accomplish and what all californians to do. This winter was much wet ter than the three before it but just average. It is just a reprieve. Southern california dry and northern ones were in good shape for the state agencies were directed to back off from mandates. Dark areas of extreme drought throughout california before the the rain came and this weeks map shows the conditions have greatly improved with 10 of extreme Northern California drought free and much of california is still racked by drought. The first objective is to stop water waste. The governor believes that conservation with making the state more resilient is the way to go. The biggest change is dropping the mandates for individual water agencies in favor of letting those agencies choose how to bring about desired savings. The ability to look at their own water levels and make a decision that is appropriate for them and still fits into the goal and statewide effort of saving water. Tomorrow, the east bay mud staff is recommending to its board of directors to reduce the stage 4 declared drought to a zero relying volunteering conservation. Water agencies will reduce the number of leaks in their systems and make sure the customers are doing the same. Each agency will be required to pass a stress test showing how it copes with three years of severe drought and adopt policies to achieve that goal. However, the governor made permanent certain prohibitions including the hosing off of sidewalks and driveways and washing cars without cutoff nozzles on their hoses and lawn watering that causes runoffs and other measures. I think most of us will agree that the water savings experts were not a huge sacrifice and did not comfort the wellbeing. Now consider this, the simple fact is that we are exactly one dry winter short of being right back in the same mess that we were in one year ago. It is that important to conserve. Reporting live. Absolutely and that was happening and we will talk more about that in the 6 00 broadcast. I do have the severe thunderstorm warnings in the tornado warnings up now. Things are starting to die down but they are going to get their share of activity. Most of the strong storms moving this way. What i want you to notice is that this low pressure center, you see the rotation, you remember on friday, the rain we had. This is it. This is that system, that low that is sitting off of the coast migrated in the plains and exploded. When you get the cutoff like we had it was potent for not having any really upper level support but when you get out in the plains and you got the gulf area to hook into and the dry air and you get the real high temperatures going and you get the fuel.
