Two San FranciscoApartment Buildings severely damaged by fire in the Mission Delores neighborhood. The fire was reported at 8 30 on 17th street. The firefighters found flames between two buildings and called for three alarms. It took more than an hour to bring the fire under control. No one hurt but anxious moments for residents when they realized the two buildings were on fire. I opened up my kitchen door and saw the smoke billowing above what looked like my Apartment Building and i call 911 and opened my door and screamed to everyone to get out and pulled the fire alarm and came out and just grabbed some random things. Gascon has create add blue ribben panel looking into alleged racism and homophobia. And the union says he is painting the department with a broad brush and they are fighting back. Here is what two former officers have to say. He would refer to these black officers as those people. And it was in a negative context talking about the black officers. The chief of police referring to black people and that context. It was so inappropriate and so unexpected. That it just made my jaw drop. There was an African American and i believe he walked over and i believe he said Something Like can you specifically to mr. Gascon, can you keep it down, you are being offensive. I caught up to gascon while he was at a News Conference. You will call gascon is a co author of 47 which reduced crimes from felonies to misdemeanors and that is what has upset others as well. They blame him for a big jump in property prices. Here is what gascon had to say. He is writing a declaration in his Lawyers Office and making allegations that are completely false and have been sitting on this for many years. Supposedly they were true, they would bring it out and certain people and himself are using this type of language. I have stated they are false and thats all i have to say. The battle continues no loss lost between gascon and the union. What will it take to get it settled. As long as gascon workers on the blue ribbal panel working on racism and the homophobia remarks they will fight back. Are speaking there other black officers coming out and saying this. That is a good point. The group has a number of black and latino officers they want to have talk before the panel and according to the union they have been stimied to talk about their experience. Henry, thank you. One person is dead and two others are recovering tonight after a series of Early Morning crashes on interstate 80. The first crash happened on i 80 in crockett. A Police Ambulance slammed into a truck in roadway and parked on the freeway. Two paramedics were hurt. As traffic slowed the initial crash triggered two other accidents in the eastbound lane. Three cars crashed and another collision happened when a big rig slam into a madza sedan. The driver of the madza was killed. The eastbound lanes of 80 were shut down several hours and reopened before 7 00 this morning. President obama today released a statement on the death of prince. It said in part, few artists have influenced the sound and projectry of popular music more distinctly or touched quite so many people. The president said that as one of the most gifted musicians of our time, prince did it all. The president call prince an electrifying performer and im sure everyone would agree. Fans around the worth are speaking mourning. Rick leventhal says prince was only 57 years old. He was an innovative singer and songwriter and incredibly talented guitarist. Prop 47 supporters say the law has reduced the jail population and the money saved is used for drug treatment and counseling and not incarceration. When you have a lopsided approach to spending public policy, the only way to reverse that is in a way that looks at crimes which should not be prosecuted in the way they are prosecuting. Opponents argued it is putting more criminals out on the streets. Target stores have decided to allow transgender people to use bathrooms that match their jern identity. Target Stores Across the country are changing their policies on bathrooms and changing rooms. Retail giant now says it is okay for transgender customers to use the facility of their choice. The decision comes in the wake of a recent law in North Carolina that says they can only use bathrooms that match the gender on their birth certificates. I think it is great to change it because we have been discriminated too long. Seeing they are a transgender female, thats a problem. Target released a statement saying we welcome transgender members and guests to use the bathroom or fitting room facility that c orresponds to their gender.
