Mascot. We are sorting out the locations. He doesnt have to look far. One place that they can watch is petes tavern. When it fills up, it is loud and fun and people are cheering together. It will be shown on 18 screens and giving away items and having drink and food specials and they have the neighboring cantina with 22 monitors, if you want something friendly family. Here is my stash. Head to the alameda theater where there is an official Warriors Watch Party but act fast because space is filling out. They did such a great job last year with the donations and plan to top the number. I will tell you what that number is at 6 00 and i will tell you there, julie, they have really cool items. I will show you that at 6 00 and tell you couple more places where they can do it inside. They seat 750 people and more than half of those tickets are already gone. Well look forward to your next report at six. Every time the warriors take to the court, if it is a practice or game it become national news. National reporters and photographers jammed into the teams practice facility and local media was there. What is cool, there were Major League Baseball stars and it got competitive. Pretty cool. The angels in town and they showed up at practice and well talk about that. But first of all you know this is a big deal when you look at this media crush that shows up at the practice facility, maybe 10 or 15 but man, today going back two or three or four rows deep, usa today and Time Magazine and espn and everybody there talking about the warriors chasing history and chip bonner our photographer was on his knees to get the shot and everybody wants to know the same thing, what would it mean to the warriors to get that record, 73rd win tomorrow against memphis. You mean the record books and a lot of attention made about it. Either way it goes. We will still be the number one or right at number one. So we will focus on the playoffs after that. We are going to focus on getting away from the hoopla and focus on the team that will try to beat us. We will hug each other and say great and well go back to the locker room and coach kerr will given a speech and then reel move on. Thats got to be the tough thing. All geeked up to win the 73rd game. They still have to beat memphis, they beat them by one point the last time they played. They are taking the ron harper approach. The former bulls guard and he said it dont mean a thing without the ring and thats when the bulls won 72 and the warriors are focused on the Bigger Picture but they want this record. But to say they are in the spotlight is an understatement. Who will they face in the playoffs. Utah or houston. If houston wins tomorrow it is houston and they own houston. You know they have beat houston the last 7 or 8 times they have played them. Utah is tougher because when they travel to utah they play at elevation and some teams struggle and realistically a mon monumental upset for them to beat the warriors. Lets go back to the practice and some of the game with the angel. They came to watch and they watched practice. Albert pujols, you see him on the left and mike trout the 2014 American League mvp and trout and Albert Pujols and draymond green. That was Cliff Pennington missing and it came down to curry, he had to make this shot and didnt make it so he picked up an i. Joe smith made that an an angels reliever. Misses with the left hand. Joe smith, the angels relief pick beat the grayest shooter in the world at a game of pig and here is what smith said afterwards. It was fun. I loved it. You dont seem surprised. You dont go expect to lose. Everything you do you want to win as a professional athlete. That was cool. He wasnt even trying. Yeah, joe smith, he expected to win. Did they all do the exact same shots. They played pig and they put in one of the lesser players and joe smith was with seth and we didnt show it but he made one of these back to the basket from the free throw and a leftie 3 pointer and seth missed both of them. The pressure is really on for tomorrow night. They dont feel pressure. They dont seem to feel pressure ever. I think it is coach kerr, he keeps them grounded. He is keeping the whole thing in perspective and saying we are playing basketball and having fun so this team maybe they are feeling it inside and maybe for staying uplate and sweating it out, they dont show it and saying all of the right things and doing all of the right things. Amazing what we are seeing. They have to win tomorrow. We will all be watching. Yes. Thank you. The jobs are to fight firefighters but rising prices make it impossible for the people to live in the cities they work in and one city is giving the firefighters a raise. But the question is, is it enough. Ann reuben is in palo alto. Firefighters say it may help at least with hiring at a time when many here had been moving on or moving away. Matt works for the Palo Alto Fire Department but lives 105 miles away in oakdale which is on the way to yosemite and lives at 3 15 to get to palo alto by 8. Last night officials approved new contracts for 850 people in four unions and it means raises of twoandahalf percent for the life of the contract but also it has market adjustment increases which for the firefighters amount to about another 13andahalf percent. Meanwhile the firefighters agreed to pick up more of the pension and medical costs. It is a Competitive Labor market and we are really trying to maintain a competitive wage. The increases would put palo alto middle of the pack compared to other departments raising then from 88,000 to 94 thousand dollars a year and thats as compared to 103 in other places. The Firefighters Union says this will help them to be competitive. The high cost of living had been driving people away. You compound that with getting paid some of the lowest rages in the bay area. Nobody wanted to stay working for the city. So this is a critical step for us to keep those employees that we have and to try and recruit new ones. A lot of us would love to live in the city we work in. It is not a reality in palo alto. The contract takes effect immediately and runs through 2018. Ann reuben in palo alto. Thank you. How much tax money may be set aside because of budget shortfalls. A drift between the santa clara sheriff and the commission. The distrust and disillusionment by both sides was on full display at the board of supervisors meeting. Jesse gary saw the criticisms and the response first hand. Frank, that is right. The tempers were swirling around the sheriff started last summer with the beating death of an inmate and now the person that is chairing the commission looking into those events say true change cant come until sheriff lori smith is gone. Continued supervision of the jails by the sheriff is not in the best interest of the inmates. The Correctional Officers or the community. Judge cordell laid out a careful case for making major changes to the santa clara jail system. Over 35 minutes, she told the county supervisors that the jailhouse beating death of inmate Michael Tyrie created a crisis that should cost sheriff lorie smith control of the system. Some inmates testified that they were abused. They beat me so bad and they broke my hand. A month of investigation led her to compare it to a plane to a crash with the sheriff at the control. There was a pilot indifferent or incompetent or a combination of both. The Blue Ribbon Commission proposes four steps for the ill plagued system. Create an office of Inspector General and overhaul a broken complaint system for inmates and create more transparency in the officer discipline system and repair of the inmate fund. While you might repair the jails you have a poor pilot and the pilot that runs the jails needs to be replaced. Sheriff smith sat for the grilling and stood before the cameras to defend her handling of the jails and its problems. We brought in the consultants, the Mental Health experts and jail experts to look at everything that we are doing within the jail to make recommendations. In your opinion does there need to be a change of culture now . I think that theres improvements that we can make everywhere. Unfortunately for smith a procession of public speakers concluded the first improvement should be finding her replacement. True culture change is that is what we desire requires new leadership. And Commission Members say that the newly elected sheriff should be stripped of her duties but she wants to stay with the reforms put in place until they are all completed and up for reelection in two years. Jesse, what is the next step after the meeting before the board of supervisors. Well, there is another report being done by the feds on the jail. Thats going to come out next week. The sheriff has an internal report that she is working on so she wants to wait and see. Thats her words, wait and see what all the reports say and she will take it from there and we asked her, sheriff, is it more bad news or criticism. That another indication it is time to go . No, she wants to see it through the end and her words im not a quitter. The words from the judge about as blunt as it gets. Jesse gary, thank you. There was feelings made known about the agreement between bart and the union. He is not happy with the deal but making sure that bart runs without the threat of strikes is important to restore the trust of the riders. If approved by the union and the bart board we can be competent there will be continuous train operations for the next five years without debilitating strikes. Symbolic holiday to raise awareness about the gender gap. It represents the numbers of extra days that a woman has to work on average to get the same pay as man doing the same job. President obama observed the day at an equal payee ven in washington d. C. A recent report shows that the pay gap wont close until 2059 and the president says that is way too long to wait. We truly value fairness and then america should be a level Playing Field where everyone that works hard gets a chance to succeed and thats good for america. The president wants congress to come up with equal pay legislation sooner rather than later. For black women this doesnt happen until august 23rd and for latin america women the equal pay is november 1st. Why the president wants change how do women in california stack up with men and women across the rest of the country with equal pay. Tom vacar joins us live and tom, you broke down the numbers for california workers. What did you find out . What you will find out the equal pay is nothing new, it is the word equal that causes the equal problem. The federal equal pay act signed into law 53 years ago. If you have got two people doing the same job with the same skill levels that are requiring the same requirements, then they should be paid the same. Attorney bob esa is a labor specialist at the cedrick law firm in San Francisco and says it is hard to prove pay discrimination. Whether or not it is a subjective decision based on an individuals job and what they are doing and whether or not they are being paid differently for doing the same work with the same level of experience at the same job. To look at the raw numbers when it comes to pay it seems that women get a raw deal. Since the equal pay act was signed in the 60s women make 21 less than men. The gender pay gap varies from state to state. In california the gap is 16 . Best in the nation, dc. Where the gap is only 10 . Worse, louisiana. 35 . More so in the private sector, we are certainly paid less. Women earn 26 less than equally educated men. It has to do with the enforcement, whether people are bringing their claims to the agencies. If you bring it to action you will cause friction in the workplace and it will make it difficult so you will win the battle and lose the war. To one young woman there is something more important than a written law. But until it actually adjusts the minds of the people who are accountable for that law, it is not going to fully take effect. Now unions through work classifications establish equal pay rates and have for years. Reporting live tom vacar, fox 2 news. A former bus stop in oakland is getting a lot of attention. It used to exist at 30th and broadway and there was a plan to move it then across the street but that was stopped last year. Now the city wants to reinstate it but a local business is putting up a fight. Ktvu Cristina Rendon explains why the bus stop would create a security risk. To restore the bus stop. On the steps of oaklands city hall passionate residence demand a bus stop to be reinstated. It makes me have to roam blocks up either way to catch the bus and for me that is not convenient. The grocery story sits at that location and transit bused pass through without stopping. Before the store opened, the city and transit planned to moving the bus stop across summit bank until the bank complained it was unsafe. It blocks the access for police to see inside and it also allows robbers to mingle in and then more easily rob a bank. We are told that a former city administrator eliminated the bus stop last year. The real problem with how it was removed there was no public process. No vote and the city council was not even notified. After hearing pleas from both sides. We dont think it is a bad idea to have the stop reinstated but a bad idea in front of the bank. If they are concerned, let them hire a security guard. The city says they are moving forward with reinstating the bus stop. Summit bank will fight this because it is not right and not safe and it takes away parking for the disabled. Residents say it is a sign that officials should take the needs of everybody more seriously, not just the rich and powerful. I understand the park doesnt want it but sometimes you have to compromise for the communitys best interest and i think that needs to be done. The bottom line is that the plan is now finalized and it could be several months before riders see this bus stop back in service. Reporting in oakland, Cristina Rendon, ktvu fox 2 news. All right. Friends of a mother found dead last week are pointing the finger at a person of interest in the toddlers disappearance. San Francisco Police are exploring new leads in the disappearance of the little girl that they have not named any suspects in the killing of her mother, nicole fitz. They have interviewed people of interest. Tara moriarty spoke with one of those people. He is a pastor that once lived with fitz. It is terrible what happened. I am sad in heart and shocked. Devastated that nicole fitz was found murdered and her daughter 2yearold arianna is missing. I have been having people praying all night and that baby will show up, baby arianna will show up. Briggs is is a street poster post pastor that met her at a shelter. She is like a daughter to me. They gave her the run around. Cheryl had not seen her daughter for a while and she was given an excuse. My gut is that they did something to the baby and when nicole found out she went ballistic as any money would do. And they kill her. But Briggs Family say they would never harm nicole. But taylor says the story does not add. You think she knows more than what she is saying. I believe they do. And the briggs insist they want to find the killer and arianna. I want to say
