Serious threats made today against San Francisco unified school similar to the one that shut down the l. A. District earlier this week. Staff members got those threats here this week and schools were searched this morning. John sasaki joins us from headquarters where officials had tense moments and tough decisions. We moved across the street to john sweat Elementary School, one of 130 campuses affected by this threat and came in last night to randomly selected staff numbers. Once administrators got wind of it, they acted quickly. Sherman Elementary School is in the neighborhood and parents are always concerned about their childrens safety. They were re assured that things were under control and safe. The experiences earlier this week in new york and los angeles helped officials here determine the threat was not credible. L. A. Schools shut down for a day because of a similar threat and the threat here including at galileea Galileo High School was similar to the ones they received. San Francisco Police were on alert for anything unusual at any of the schools. All of those circumstances, the general nature of the letter, the fact it was september to many, many school districts, the fact it was similar even to the letter that was sent to los angeles tuesday, Los Angeles Unified School district, led us all to conclude that this was not a credible threat. Authorities say the third grader was asleep when he was stabbed to death by his older Brothers Best friend. Jordans mother found him stabbed to death in his bathroom. Contra costa sheriffs deputies found a bloody hunting knife and a glove used by schultz. Schultz, who had been staying with the victims family, turned their power off and waited before everyone was asleep, authorities say. He cut the power to the house, utilized drugs. Distinguished between which victim he was going to choose based on the size and strength of that individual and ultimately decided upon the most vulnerable victim in the house, a 9yearold boy. Defense said he suffered from a delusional disorder, had just been released from a psychiatric facility. The da said while schultz was troubled, he knew right from wrong. A federal judge charged a 24yearold Southern California man with illegally buying two assault weapons used in the San Bernardino massacre.
