And as millions of people head out to shop this weekend, most will be carrying a number of credit cards, and this year it should be a lot safer when you swipe those cards. It was just three years ago target suffered a massive credit card data breach over the thanksgiving weekend. Jetblue and home depot have also been hit by hackers. Recently banks and Credit Card Companies added microchips to all new cards. So every time that chip card is swiped, it creates a unique transaction code that cannot be copied or ever used again. So what thats going to cut down on substantially is the ability of these criminals to be able to use those cards at the retail point of sale, which is what theyre doing now in large part. Retailers were given an october 1st deadline to switch the new card readers. Some experts recommend to make them even more effective, consumers should have to punch in a pin number. So for all these neighborhoods here, and then up in the north bay, the east bay valleys and out toward the south bay for the Santa Clara Valley a freeze warning in place. Temperatures in the mid20s to right around 30 degrees. This in place for friday morning, also into saturday morning as well. So its going to stick around quite a bit. San Francisco Police are asking for the publics help in tracking down the gunman who shot a man at a busy parking garage last night. They put her on bypass to let her lungs and heart heal, a last resort for the sickest of the sick. It is the highest level of care we can provide in the icu. It can have big rewards but not without risks. If you cant get over the infection and the lung doesnt heal, then ultimately it all doesnt work. And theres high risk for patients that todie on it. They told us, you know, a couple of occasions, you know, this isnt looking very good. We might lose her. Like, whoa, we need to go have a talk with god about this. Reporter so they waited. We got the access that faith immediately. Reporter and prayed. So my prayer every day was touch the minds and the thoughts, the emotions of everyone that was going to be touching her, because through them, god was going to provide them whatever they needed to do the best thing for our daughter. Patients are typically on bypass for one to two weeks, not brily. Two weeks turned into a month. And longer, the whole time brily lay in the intensive care unit, defying the odds. On a weekly basis, she would challenge this group. And come up with things that, you know, we had no one had ever seen before. She kept fighting. Her parents kept fighting. So we kept going. Reporter 51 days later, brily came off the bypass machine and set a Childrens Hospital record in the process as the patient to be on it the longest. Shes a miracle. She really is. Gordon was a lifeguard at the hayward plunge and an intern at ktbu. A woman fleeing from police in a stolen car as she headed back to work in 2001. It was gordons 19th birthday. She was a freshman at what was then called cal state hayward and played on the water polo team. Her family started a Memorial Fund and has given two scholarships to lifeguards or people at the plunge every year. Now theyve expanded it to help people who dont know how to swim. Offering scholarships to underprivileged kids to help pay for their swimming lessons, so that they are capable of swimming. In san jose, ktvu, fox 2 news. A rich man restaurant opened its doors to the homeless for a very special thanksgiving feast. Take a look. There were white tab bell cloths and fine china at the salute restaurant on the marina waterfront today for their free thanksgiving meal. Some of the guests were offered a ride to the restaurant in a stretch limousine. This is the fifth year for the event. Even Outgoing Police chief chrismagnus served up meals. The owner was once homeless herself and says shes glad to share some of her good fortune with others. Its not only the meal we give them today. We give them hope. We feel them with love and dignity. Thats the most important thing. She expects to serve about 1300 people today. The guests also got goody bags and free flu shots for those who wanted one. Also in richmond, people had a chance to get in a little exercise before their thanksgiving dinner. The annual nitro turkey thanksgiving day run was held at the point panol. The park once housed a dynamite factory and thats why the name came from. The legendary turkey made an appearance. The runs benefit the food bank of two counties. That looks like a lot of fun out there. A Beautiful Day to get outside and get fresh air. But its dark outside now and the temperatures have dropped. This in place not only for tomorrow morning, but also into saturday morning and there is a chance this could be ex tenned into sunday morning as well. A dry weather pattern but that cold weather pattern remains in place. We once had at least the chance of a shower for saturday night. Looks like the main energy with this system heading to the south, basically going to weaken. For us partly sunny skies. We are confident we will have some rain chances next week. Then again possibly later tuesday and into wednesday and thursday, the forecast models trying to get a better idea of the details for next week.
