We are told he was a student at uc merced who lived in an on campus dorm. The Sheriffs Department has identified him but at this point they are not releasing his name because they are still trying to contact his family who lives outside of the area. We also learned the weapon used was a hunting style knife between 8 and 10 inches long. This happened around 8 00 this morning inside of a classroom where a male student was stabbed. Than a construction worker came into help and was stabbed. He is being hailed as a hero for saving the first victims life. Than the suspect ran outside and stabbed another male student on the way down and ultimately finally stabbed a student advisor in the back who was sitting outside of the building. We spoke with one mother who says her son was in the classroom when the initial violence started. He said the guy came in the classroom and started stabbing people. They ran towards the door. He came outside. He was wearing dark sunglasses and a black beanie, i think a black scarf but i couldnt see. Black backpack and dark green jacket, dark jeans. He was running and yet gloves on as well. Reporter that uc merced student said that the suspect then pastor and she watched as a Police Officer fired two shot at the suspect in which ultimately killed him. She says that he refused to stop and put his hands up. University says all of the injured are expected to survive. Classes have been canceled for today and tomorrow. The university is expected to reopen on friday. We also, late this afternoon, learn new information about the accused attacker.
