These images show how horrific and chaotic it was in the las ramblas district of barcelona. It is an area filled with shops. Victims were left in the street. 13 killed at least 100 were injured. The city went into lockdown with the Police Walking the street and Closing Stores in the train station. I heard many people screaming and then i saw the been going down the boulevard. You could see all of the bodies at las ramblas. It was brutal. Police believe another man was used in the attack as a getaway car. Two people are in custody and the search continues for the driver. Isis released a statement hours after the incident saying it was carried out by soldiers of the islamic state. The u. S. Secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, condemned the attack. We ask u. S. Citizen citizens in the area to let your loved ones know you are safe. We are resolved to find you and bring you to justice. Reporter President Trump tweeted that the United States condemns the terror attack in barcelona, spain and will do what is ever necessary to help. Be tough and strong, we love you. The interior chief for the catalan area says that they will honored the victims killed. We have seen the aftermath of what happened on the cell phone video, but as far as you know, we have not seen anything of the actual event involved in this. Unless there is security video that has not been released yet. Reporter right. If it exists, it has not been released. We do not have video of the van its self. When this played out, it was hard for immediate outlets to get to where this happened. The street, the van traveled about three quarters of a mile down the road. They immediately blocked the street and you could not get to where the van was. It is something we are waiting to see. All right christina, we will stay on top of this through the evening. Unfortunately we are seeing this more and more. We are joan by rick smith. This is the latest in the series of vehicles used to kill pedestrians. What if anything could be done to prevent the attack or better prepare for it . I think you have to learn from it. I think it shows the terrorist threat. It shows that the threat in europe is probably worse. There are attacks in berlin and london. You know, i think that part of the european problem has to do with the large pot local population and the fact that it may not be as much in the society as it is in the United States. But you have to learn from these things. The reasons that they work is that it is not sophisticated. There is not a lot of coordination to pull it off. You may not need a lot of intelligence to get intercepted. That is the important part. I think they need to give Law Enforcement and the Intelligence Committee the community what they need to fight this thing. It is not going to go away. It clearly is not going away. Even with the defeat of isis and in the middle east, it is decentralized and there is no headquarters. It just shows you the magnitude of the problem. Rick, there have been efforts after the incident in charlottesville, virginia by google and other companies to shut down access to the internet by hate groups like neonazis and White Supremacists and so on. Are they using the dark web . How do people get inspired and learn about isis if they have access to the web. Do you know about that . It is a problem, but i dont know how you prevent it from happening. People use the internet. I think google and the other companies can do something about it, but the key is you have to identify who these people are. There are coworkers and people who know these terrorists who could provide information of value. It is a combined effort and not just one single thing. You cannot just blame Law Enforcement. We dont have a lot of time, but the fact that these are happening in very popular areas where tourists gather, do you think in the u. S. He came out the door with a shotgun. The officers were trying to negotiate with him. The officers eventually fired on the suspect. They rendered first aid, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Reporter it all started about 9 00 wednesday night. Neighbors called police saying that the man was acting bizarre and challenging people to fight. When police arrived, he was armed with a rifle and went inside his mobile home. He fired numerous rounds while inside the house. A negotiator tried to calm him down. He made suicidal remarks. About two hours later, police say he started a fire inside the home. Then he came outside with a shotgun. It is not clear if he fired any shots, but in this video that we got from a witness, there appears to be an armored car to the left and then gunfire. [ gunfire ]. I didnt see anything, but i heard gunshots. There was a want there was one, a pause and then more. It impacted my moms house. It is very sad. The man has not been officially dead identified, but i learned from Court Records that he has been married twice and is been accused of domestic abuse. This is under investigation by the Livermore Police and the Allegheny County police department. Thank you. We are learning more about a crash in east oakland that left two children dead. The corner Purpose Office identified the children as nixon lopez and sixyearold ezequias lopez. We have more from oakland. Four witnesses say these were two boys killed in the crash last night. They were riding with a Family Member when police say their car turned in front of an oncoming car here on international boulevard and they were brought chided. People broadsided. People say that they went flying and slammed into the garbage can on the sidewalk. It happened at 8 30 in front of a busy part taco truck parked on the corner. People rushed over to the mangled car trying to help the people inside. There were two children and a woman in the car and all had to be extricated by firefighters. The sixyearold child in the 11yearold child died later at childrens hospital. It was the worst accident i have ever seen. I cant stop thinking about the kids and the mom. Witnesses say there were two Oakland Police officers at the taco truck at the time of the crash and they ran over to help out. Of course this tragic crash hits home for everybody at the department. For one east bay family, the heartbreak was compounded. Their loved ones was buried in the wrong cemetery plot away from the rest of his family. Reporter some visits to the cemetery are harder than others. Every time Peggy Chaloner is reminded that her husband richard is buried in the wrong spot. In january, it will be five years. Reporter at home and brent would brentwood, peggy shares the collage from his funeral. He was a family man and surrounded by loved ones when he died from liver cancer in 2013. Reporter the Attorney Says she believes the mixup could be traced back to the 90s when Oakmont Memorial Park was selling lots that did not correspond to where people were being buried. They tried to reconcile where people were buried in the ground. At that time they sent letters to some plots owners, but not all. Four robert received one of those letters, but peggy and richard did not. They stressed the location of the plot did not change in just the numbers. Four is it possible others are buried in the wrong plots . It is possible that the people dont know that the plots they originally purchased removed.
