They provide security at oracle and the oakland coliseum. A spokesperson said we have a comprehensive plan which includes having the bomb squad on site for the entire game. In a few days huge crowds will gather for the bottle rock napa valley music festival. Organizers will be on high alert after what took place in manchester. 4500 people are expected to attend. Everyone will have to pass through Security Check points. That will include metal detectors and full bag searches. Napa police arent doing anything different in light of the manchester bombing. They are asking everyone attending the event to report anything suspicious. I think what it does is it reinforces the mind set for us. Stressing to people the concept of see thing say something. Making sure that we are communicating with our partners. Napa police work hand in hand with the Sheriffs Department to make sure people are safe at the festival. Bottle rock napa valley kicks off on friday at noon. What goes into an investigation like the one taking place in england . For that im joined by former fbi agent rick smith in San Francisco. Thank you for joining us. What are they doing to find a cell or anyone connected to what happened in manchester . The first thing they did was the forensic work at the scene. What you are talking about is in terms of the confederateds they check with the technical courses and with the United States to try to identify others involved in this. I think they have arrested somebody else. I think the difference here is they targeted children. They targeted teenagers, younger children. Thats a new low. I think if nothing else this makes everyone mad. They want to go after that people. This is a war. Anybody that thinks that it is not is naive to what is going on. The challenge in the war you are describing is trying to track down all the people on the radar we hear about people on the radar, well, i heard a discussion yesterday from a forme fbi official who used to run Counter TerrorismAfrican Americans programs. He said several thousand people could be on the radar. Out of those a few hundred could rise to the top that could be significant. Then you have to dedicate a lot of resources to do 247 surveillance on these people. Which eats up a lot of valley valuable time. The bottom line is it is impossible. No country has resources to follow everybody who could be a threat. Right . Im not sure it is impossible. It is difficult. Your point is well taken. The problem is when they identify somebody else involved and they think he might be involved in something else. Something in the future, you have to dedicate 24 7 surveillance. That takes an incredible amount of manpower. You cannot do it with everybody. You cannot do it with 50 people in one area. It is impossible. That aspect of it is very, very difficult you cannot stop if it looks like it is not going to happen. You have to follow the lead and narrow down suspects. You might come up with two or three that warrant surveillance. The key is to have a database that allows you to make progress. You have to make progress beyond the forensic investigation at the scene, to something that tide fies potential suspects in something in the near future. Does this investigation in england have any spillover effect in the United States . Lessons learned in england we can apply so Something Like to that doesnt happen in this country . I think the only Lesson Learned is it could happen. There is a philosophy of perspective that it is not going to happen. Thats the opposite of what reality is. It could happen here. Look it hasnt happened here for a variety of reasons. But to say Something Like this cant happen here is naive. Rick smith former fbi agent in San Francisco. Thank you very much. Youre welcome. We sat down with the team new general manager john lynch for the vision going forward. And latest on the quarterback situation. I think you got a taste of draft day of how the scrutiny can really become all of a sudden nationwide. Well, we have our first trade of the night. San francisco and chicago flipped picks. The 49ers now get to move back. They are not done moving back yet. On draft day when that culminated so fast you get adrenaline as a player on the field did that equal that . It was fun. The advice i had hear from a lot of people about the draft is it can be boring. You pick and wait six hours and pick again. That one our case. We were picking from the start. A lot of people were apologizing to me. They felt this was a deep draft but not as good up top. I knew in my heart we were picking number two. In the end we moved back one spot and grabbed a fantastic player we would have been happy taking at two but then gained a lot of ammunition to move around this draft. Sullivan. Thats me. John lynch. How are you doing . Do you wanting to a 49er . That was a cool story about soloman. I heard a review that you were in a class together at stanford . I was a football baseball player at stanford. I was a 42yearold senior. I went into a class and thomas happened to be in the class. It was called decision analysis. We worked on a project together. He was a true freshman at the time going in. I saw he was a delightful young kid. How important in the mind set is those fans . If you ever need a reminder you saw it on draft day appear in this building next door. Absolutely. It is that big part of this. Im seeing firsthand now how strong that is. I knew it from an opposing player perspective. And now im feeling it firsthand. When you have a championship effort every day, in time well put a championship team. Thats the the standard. Thats where we want to get. In closing well ask you a fun question. For too much blame and too much credit there is always a quarterback. Thats the question i get on the street more often than not who is the 49ers quarterback going to be . We are both believers. I played against a lot of Great Quarterbacks. As soon as i retired i knew full well how important. Right now out quarterback is brian hoyer. We are excited about brian. Hes been effective. The key to him is staying healthy. We think given that he does that and he is working hard to do that he can be successful we are mindful that we are always searching for that franchise guy that we can have for the next ten years. Everybody wants that. They have seen it firsthand with joe and steve and alex and cap. They have seen Great Quarterback play. We are striving for that. We are working for it each day trying to find that guy. Are you feeling optimistic . Of course. Everybody says great things about john lynch and the new coach. Well see. We will. Almost every major automaker out there and a number of Tech Companies spending billions to develop self driving cars. Who do you trust when it comes to the technology . More steps being taken toward Driverless Cars with automakers investing big money on the idea. We are still several years away from walking into a dealership and buying a car that can drive you home a new survey gauges consumer confidence. It is just out. Bob, you looked at a number of things related to the vehicles including if people would like to buy one. What did you find . Apparently we are having audio problems with bob. Perhaps we can get it up again and continue on our conversation. It appears we have restored those problems with the audio. Are you with me . Yes, i am. Lets talk about the results of the survey. What did you find . So we found that the majority of people believe that Driverless Cars will be widely available within the next decade. Only 25 of people would buy one. A lot hinges is if they are safe or not. When you asked the people too look at who is behind these vehicles whether traditional automakers or Tech Companies whom do people trust more . Interestingly in the u. S. We tend to trust Tech Companies more. Like apple and google. More so than automakers. We also took this survey to europe. On average in europe they tend to trust automakers. Most likely because in germany for example, those prime key automakers are from germany and here in the u. S. The largest Tech Companies are based from the u. S. It is likely that cultural significance of the companies. Lets talk a little bit about the safety issues. How do people respond to questions about those topics . Do they think Driverless Cars will be safer than the cars driving today. Reporter the results varied pigeon rations. Millennials largely believing driverless vehicles will be as safe or safer. 80 in fact. Versus babyboomers 56 thought they would be safer or as safe than cars on the road today. Yes, i think most people believe theyll be as safe as cars today. The results varied by generation. You touched on this in the beginning. People are sort of optimistic about the technology. It seems like us in the bay area are talking about this but when you did the survey people , do they really think the cars will be available in ten years . Reporter i do. They read the news report and see how the technology is progressing. Every day there is great advances made in this technology. We found people who already are kind of going that next step in their car so they have connected car services and realtime routeing and realtime parking those people who own those services are more likely to purchase down the road. Whether it is automakers or Tech Companies that want to move forward they are getting consumers familiar with some of the services and the benefits could go a long way to getting them on the road. The main subject is privacy. How are automakers and Tech Companies to address those concerns . Reporter overall across all countries surveyed, 34 of people dont trust anyone with their data. That is a big hurdle to get people moving forward. Just like healthcare data, important data, it needs to be protected and secure in order to give consumers confidence when they travel to the Grocery Store all of the driving data is protected. It sounds like automakers and Tech Companies got work to do to build that trust and create cars people feel like will address their issues. Thank you very much.
