Reporter no idea. I talked to the scene your pastor at the church. He was very helpful but he said that hes waiting to hear back from the Health Department so before they release anything he wants to wait for what they have to say. Amy, officials are praising the efforts of that officer who shot the suspect before he could injure more people. Reporter absolutely. A 28yearold officer on the job here for a couple of years. He was in the area for an earlier gas leak and was able to respond immediately. He shot that suspect dead and of course now as everyone looks to heap praise on this officer, and rightly so they are also looking at the motivation of this individual, this buckeye, this 18yearold student. What in the world would have motivated him to do such a thing . Abdul artan, 18 years old, a somali refugee, a student here at Ohio State University. They had been either hit by the car or stabbed. We understand one critical but not life threatening injury. Hopefully quickly. Our officer was on scene in less than a minute and ended the situation in less than a minute. There were lacerations and cuts most likely from the stab wounds, and there were a number of people that had orthopedic and other soft tissue injuries related to being hit by the car initially. Certainly a situation that could have been so much worse had it not been for the quick actions and the fact that this officer was just in the right place at the right time. For now live in columbus, amy language, back to you. Amy, thank you so much. Appreciate it. Word of the violent attack reached students within minutes thanks to the universitys buckeye alert system. It just said stay safe, run, hide, fight. Reporter within a minute an osu Police Officer shot and killed the suspect. What we had heard at first was that there were shots fired on campus and therefore the active shooter protocol was going to be put in place which is to do as much as possible to protect people which is to not engage, to find someplace to be safe and to hide in place while the professionals arrive to neutralize the situation. Reporter the text also contained the words run, hide, file. Run if you can, hide if you cant escape, and if the shooter finds you, fight him with whatever you have available to you. The University Says it holds training and drills for students for active shooter situations. Those are kind of key words that we use to remind people of their training. Reporter and they did remember. Pictures and video show osu students inside classrooms piling chairs to block the door. The buckeye alert signals the medical staff to jump into action. Time for a look at the weather. Bill martin, got some rain, but it looks like this week is going to be nice and dry. It is going to be nice and dry. A pretty wet weekend saturday and sunday. Not a lot of rain but enough to slow you down aus moved about on the roadways and up in the mountains where there was plenty of snow. A live camera shot. A beautiful day. Clear, crisp atmosphere. A few cumulus clouds aussie mount diablo in the distance. Nationwide some weather to talk about. This is some stuff down here in louisiana. Theres been tornado concerns, some very warm air and moist air has sort of collided. Look at these storms around memphis, st. Louis and cincinnati. Pointing it out because if you were perhaps traveling a few days after thanksgiving, the travel on the ohio, Mississippi Valley and that corridor very slow right now. For us a few linger is showers. Some snow flurries as well but it is starting to dre out. You see that signature of that ridge of High Pressure. The signature beg you see this kind of down stroke here. This high is going to continue to build in as we go into the next couple of days, at least certainly in this area which sets us up for a nice day. Look how much warmer it is right now than yesterday at this time. Four degrees warmer in napa, a little cooler in fairfield. Heres the story. Clear skies. Thats how you start off tomorrow. So it means tomorrow morning is going to be pretty darn cool when you get going. Theres enough moisture that were not going to go below freezing but we will see frost in the inland bay valleys tomorrow morning like santa rough sacks, napa, fairfield and napa. Thats your tuesday morning. Your daytime highs tomorrow, in San Francisco you start off at 48 degrees. Thats pretty cool. Partly cloudy, partly sunny. Then mostly clear in the afternoon San Francisco. But look at the lunch time temperatures. San francisco just 56 degrees at lunchtime. Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco 58 degrees, just under 60 soft thats the forecast for your bay area tuesday, with temperatures mostly on the mild side. 50s and low sick with clear skies. Now that changes around as we head into your bay area wednesday. Clouds and maybe a sprinkle. Ill see you back here with those specifics. Thanks bi. Now to cuba where the public remembrance of fidel castro is underway. Foxs Steve Harrigan is in havana where thousands are paying tribute. Its day three of cubas official mourning period for fidel castro. Thousands of cubans lining up in the plaza of the revolution, some crying, some paying tribute to the life of cubas long time leader as they filed through three rooms where posters of castro were mounted alongside flowers. This is the worst thing that has happened. The new generations have to learn to be like him because he gave everything to us. It is a great source of pain. It is something that had to occur because we all must die but sometimes it is hard for us to accept that fidel has died. Castro also honored here with a onegun salute and a planned mass gathering in the plaza on tuesday, a stark contrast to the parties and celebrations weve seen in parts of miami where many young cuban americans are embracing castros death and looking ahead to possible political reform. Now is the time, and its definitely in the hands of the young people to take it over. Reporter those reformers hoping castros death will pressure president elect trump into following through on his Campaign Promise to roll back the recent outreach to cuba, trump saying on twitter that recall for the release of Political Prisoners and for greater freedoms for the cuban people but the white house is warning it would be a mistake to roll back the progress made in the past few years. A policy of isolation that the United States had pursued for more than five decades had failed to bring about the improved human rights climate that i think just about every american citizen would like to see. Castros remains will be interred in a cemetery in santiago. Steve harrigan, fox news. Vandals hit a home in the east bay. Coming up were going to talk with a homeowner about what happened and why she feels her family was targeted. Life. Is unpredictable. Life is deaths. And births. Sickness and health. Love and heartbreak. And covered california is there for it all. Not just to help keep you well. But to make sure the cost of being unwell doesnt ruin this whole life thing. Because its more than just health care. Its life care. A family in concord said they had their electricity cut and their front lawn completely filled with american flags that had written messages about building a wall and donald trump. What happened . Reporter we heard a sound at our front door around midnight. My husband opened the door and there were flags on our front door, in our car doors, there were flags all over our front yard. I think there were 57 flags, seven of which had political messages on them. Donald trump, trump pens, trump 17, build the wall, we love donald trump, Something Like that. And then your electricity was cut off . Right. So we collected the flags, we brought them inside, and we thought that was it. We just thought it was kind of a stupid prank by the neighbor. A little while later we heard a great big bang and all the how we are went out to our house. We thought someone had hit a transformer so my husband ran outside to see what was going on. He realized our house was the only one where we had lost power, and he tack a look, and the electric meter to our house had been taken off the house, which cut the power to our home. Why do you think your family was target . We dont really know. This is a neighbor weve had conflicts with, but nothing to this degree. The occasional argument over who parks where, but nothing that got all the way to the point where they were vandalizing our home. I assume police are investigating this. Do you know who did it . Have they reached out to you . Anybody reached out to you face to face . Were pretty sure we know who did it. We dont have proof. The police are working on that. He has not responded. And why the pro trump build the wall theme here . We dont really know. Im active politically on social media. We didnt have a hillary sign in our front yard. We didnt have bumper stickers, but we dont make a big secret of how we vote. And i dont honestly i dont know how this guy voted either. I think it started off as a prank and escalated from there. We dont know. All right. Well, hopefully you will work it out and hopefully it doesnt he is ska late. Thanks for joining us, and again, hopefully it doesnt escalate. Thanks. Sure. Security video captures a scary scene. A man confronting people right inside a bar. Lets take a look before he actually starts shooting. Well tell you about the arrest just made. Also, more questions about wells fargos shocking tactics. Why more than a month after that fake account scandal broke, state lawmakers are still looking for answers. I like to know whats happening as soon as it happens. Who won the game, who won on the dancing show. I mean, if i watched that show. Same with my banking. With my bank of america mobile banking app, i can see my accounts all in one place. I can easily manage them and if something doesnt look right, im going to know. Plus, i can set up alerts to help detect unusual activity. So i feel secure. Wait, he won . Thats an average tango. At best. Banking giant wells fargo made headlines for agreeing to pay 185 million to settle those allegations that its workers opened millions of accounts without customers permission to reach those aggressive sales tactics. Today state lawmakers took a closer look at the San Franciscobased bank trying to get to the bottom of all this. State senator steve glazier, thank you for joining us. Tell me what you were hoping to get out of the meeting. We asked wells fargo to participate. Can we trust the bank with our money again . Unfortunately they chose not to participate. They didnt show up. No one showed up. We invited the ceo to participate, and they said no, we arent comfortable coming, we dont think we can answer your yens, and they declined to participate. Has that ever happened before . We only found one time in recent history where a company failed to shine at a California Senate hearing, and the company was enron. Not good company to keep. What does this say to you . We have a Wonderful Bank that has served california for 160 years, and things broke down. The culture broke down. The drive for profits were such that they had thousands of employees cheating customers, you and i, and sought shows that there is a big can 13th bank that has not been cut out, that they havent done the steps necessary to give us the trust again to give our money to wells and be confident theyre going to do the right thing. Today at that hearing some rather shocking information was disclosed about how far up this wept. Right. The implication has been that its lower level employees. Today we made clear that more than 480 managers of the bank, Branch Managers and above have participated in this fraud. And so its now moving up the management ranks, and thats why i say we want full answers. We want to know that theyre doing whats necessary to rebuild that trust. We would like to see come back to wells fargo, a storied financial institution. We want them to be successful but they cant do that unless they own up to the problems. The fact that theyre in the even participating in the hearing it doesnt seem like you are, in fact, going to get the answers that you want. They are being investigate by a number of agencies, federal, state, local, and i think theyre hiding behind the lawyers, that they think that they can duck and hide and somehow this issue goes away. But my obligation as a lawmaker, as a chairman of the Banking Committee is to try to get these answers for the benefit of the public and the consumer so we can make good choices so i dont think it is a good pr strategy. It may be a good legal strategy but i dont think it is going to rebuild the confidence in the bank that they so desperately need. And if they still have these sort of sales targets, doesnt that sort of open the door to this happening again . It does. Its pressure to sell. Pressure to 70. And we seat in a lot of flainsz our world and having it in the banking world can make some of us uncomfortability i dont think theres the fact that theres incentives to do well. I think its the fact that when they saw wrong doing, they didnt cut it off. Because there was such incentives they overlooked a lot of abuse that should never have been overlooked sought became part sister banking culture and now wells zane difficult spot. We know the state has cut ties with wells faring go. What can lawmakers do . Part of that is airing this dirty laundry in public which is uncomfortable for everybody, but its to have them know that we are not going to go away. Yes, the state treasure hear said that were going put wells in the penalty box for a year but wells does business in a lot of places including for you and i as customers. I think they need to know that until they do that full accounting theyre not going rebuild the trust which really is the foundation of our banking institution, that when you give them your money that you feel that theyre to be trusted, that you are going to get it back and you are not going to be sold things that you dont need or didnt authorize. Senator steve glazier, thank you for joining us. Muni is investigating what it is calling a ransom ware attack. The Transit Agency hasnt elaborated but there are several reports that hackers demanded a bitcoin ransom to release information during the period in question muni opened up the light rail gates to offer free rides because the fare machines were out of systems. Operations are now back to normal. Muni says its still unclear whos responsible for the attack. Police say theyve made an arrest in connection with a shooting over the weekend inside a bar. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 33yearold daniel lopez of vallejo after identifying him. The shooting happened early yesterday morning at the bottom of the bar on military east. Two men were shot and wounded. The son of the bar other than says the suspect came in after last call and asked for a drink but the bartender wouldnt serve him after hours. He says thats when the suspect pulled out gun and pointed it at serial people. Pointed at his face, at our bartenders face, all around the bar. It looked like he was trying to make his way back behind the bar and a couple of gentlemen stopped and confronted him and punched him a couple of time, then he fired the gun off a couple times. The bar owners son says there were about 15 people inside the bar when it happened and almost everyone hid when the gun went off but the two men kept trying to protect everyone else. They kind of had him pushed up in this corner here, and then i guess he shot up in the ceiling a couple of times and some stuff came down. We didnt see any bullet holes. Those two men had gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital. Theyre both expected to survive. Adams calls those two men heroes and says hes looking forward to holding a fund raiser to help them pay for their hospital bills. No details about why the man arrested pulled out the gun. That Surveillance Video is scary. The Investigation Continues into that shooting that took place outside a concord Movie Theater that sent frightened moviegoers rung out. It happened around 7 00 in downtown concord last night. A man was shot three times by a Security Guard. He is expected to survive. Police tell us that the man tested positive for methamphetamine and that his drug alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit. Investigators say the man snuck into the theater through a back door and when the Security Guards confront him about the man became angry and threatened to shoot and kill the guard. Security guard chased him outside the theater near a parking garage. Where the shooting happened is between the parking structure and the Movie Theater, and the people who are in that back theater heard the shots. And that kind of scared them, leading them to believe that maybe somebody had a firearm inside the theater and was shooting. The people who were in that theater ran out. The Movie Theater was evacuated as a precaution. Police say that Security Guard involved in the shooting is cooperating with investigators. They say its too early to know whether the guard will face any charges. All right, you probably heard about to 555 holliday Tree Lighting tomorrow but many havent heard about the Organization Behind it, the famous face helping kids succeed. And were tracking showers that still lirng in parts of the north basement well talk about that and well also talk about the very cold morning you can expect tomorrow and the rest of the week. The annual Tree Lighting ceremony at 555 california street is set to take place tomorrow. The tree was delivered last week. People have been decorating it ever since. But as Claudine Wong reports, for hall of Famer Ronnie Lott its more than just an annual tradition. Its an event to benefit the nonprofit all stars helping kids. Mr. Ronnie lott weve got a Tree Lighting coming up. We do. 555 christmas Tree Lighting. It benefits all stars helping kids. I think about a Tree Lighting, obviously there are so many gifts, right. But its the kid that doesnt get that. Its the kid that doesnt have that opportunity, and for us, allstars, weve always felt that anybody could be an all star. And we try to make that happen. Lets talk about allstars, though. Way back in 1989, right, you host a little thing and say, maybe we can help . Iewflt the moment which i think is really special is that i remember walking in the room and john madden and Kareem Abduljabbar and all these great athletes showed up. Wayne gretzky even showed up. What i thought was special about that was you saw that people wanted to give, and you saw people would not only wanted to give, but theyre the best at the best. You want to not have regrets. And you want to have moments where you exhaust those moments. And we were able to exhaust that moment. We raised 80 grand. That one night. That one night. We realized that, man, if we could do this every year, which we started to do it every year that we could really make a difference for a lot of young people. In a time where people are saying, i dont know, celebrities should just be celebrities, athletes should be able to play their game, they dont have to do anything else, get on that field, get on that court, do whatever they are paid to do as a job, this seems to be tab tag different approach. Yeah, and i think the other thing that it also says is that its our duty. Its our responsibility. If we talk about where the money for allstars goes, you chose kids. When we first started we had this idea that there were organizations like city team ministry, and we decided to just literally give them the money. What we also decided here in the last four or five years, what about the startups that are being thought about. Most nonprofits fail after two andahalf years. And the reason they fail is they dont have the resources. They dont have the money. And to incubate the idea that maybe a charity can change someones life, which im seeing, when i was young, you were able to be around people who were just trying to figure it out. Dwight clark was just trying to figure it out. Joe montana was just trying to figure it out. Gary rice was just trying to figure it out. And you have schools just trying to figure it out. You have mindful life in richmond just trying to figure it out. But on the verge of greatness. At east side prep, trust me, when i first met chris birks when i see chris bischoff, and when i see a man that goes from being at East Palo Alto and getting a job at hp, thou working for another company, ill take that over any super bowl ring. I was going to ask, how do you compare your time on the field with what youre doing now. When you think about a legacy, my dads legacy is the legacy i want. I want to find a way to be like him. I want to be a guy who looks back and says, i dont have any regrets. So when youre standing there at the Tree Lighting what will tell that you this is a celebration that you were hoping for this is the Tree Lighting, this is the next step in exhausting every moment . When those young men start singing, you start to realize that its all worth it. And you can see there, ronnie lotts genuine pride in what hes doing, helping a young man get a job. He says thats better than any super bowl ring. Pretty cool. If you want to catch the Tree Lighting ceremony, it is set for 5 00 tomorrow night. That celebration includes a performance by the doobie brothers. Well, bill martin what can we expect at the Tree Lighting . A little chilly. Tomorrow morning cold, near freezing. A little frost. The days are definitely getting shorter, nights are longer as we head towards the winter sol sometimes. Temperatures in the low 50s, mid50s, Something Like that. So weve got some rain he is special in the north bay. Rainfall accumulations, thats not bad for a weekend total, up to four inches or nearly four inches. Up to three inches in santa rosa over the course of all of those weather systems that went through. In the mountains we saw over two and a half feet of snow in some places. So as you look at the nations weather we talked about this. This is going to give you a little bit of grief. You can see it is going to progress slowly. Tomorrow you are going to find delays in washington, new york. Not major delays but will you find some airport delays in eastern seaboard region. So just prepare for that. And tomorrow for us it starts off cool. Ends up cool. Doesnt get very war. Highs tomorrow only in the 50s. And no fog to speak of. I dont even think we will see valley fog but we will see some frost most likely in the inland bay valleys. Temperatures now in the 50s. Outside live you see mount diablo and a little bit of cloud cover right on the top there. Just sort of that time of year. The shadows are long, the sun angle is low. And this High Pressure is with us certainly through tomorrow. So this morning we had a little light spring cal as that system was clearing out. Now its cleared out. Tomorrow no light sprinkles, just some pretty cool lows and High Pressure dominating. The main theme will be High Pressure dominating the area. That means for the most part dry. Wednesday we might see a sprinkle but nothing to change your plans over. But there might bea light spring could. Here we are tomorrow night, through tuesday, here comes that wednesday deal. See that . When i say a sprinkle, thats not a game changer or a deal breaker. Somewhere around wednesday around 1 00 or 2 00, maybe a sprinkle or two, and thats it. The mountains shouldnt see much out of it. There has been plenty of snow. You asked about rainfall for a sense of average. Were well over 140 to 150, some places 170 of rainfall average for this time of year. And compared to last year which was down around 40 or 50 of rainfall average. So were doing good. You really want to be 140 of rainfall average going into january, because thats the numbers add up are much harder to get when you get farther down the road. Forecast highs tomorrow upper 50s, low sick. Thats your bay area tuesday. But your bay area wednesday sets one a few clouds, and that slight chance of a sprinkle that i mentioned but nothing to change your plans over. And then thursday mostly sunny but doesnt really get warm. Notice weve dropped, and now were talking about temperatures around the bay, overnight lows inland. So the bottom number is going to be your inland napa number. Friday, the napa valley could easily get down at freezing or even below. Frosty morning temperatures throughout the fiveday forecast. We pressed into sunday because we can, and a nice looking weekend. That wednesday thing is a little fly in the ointment, but other than that weve got about five dry for sure, maybe six right through this week with very cool mornings to start off. Really chickee on the way to school. Getting the kids out the door. Hard to get them out of bed actually. Thanks bill.
