We called seven bay area dealerships and couldnt get an answer on when their repairs could be made to the vehicle. One dealership says it may be three to four weeks before they even get the part. My understanding is that the new car dealers, that they cant sell these cars because of the part that isnt available. Reporter the local dealers say that humidity will play a factor in the airbags exploding. Though the Southern States will get the repaired parts first. It will be made available totem had. Reporter and he is a fan of honda, but would be reluctant buying a used one affected by the recall because he says that he is not even sure if he is allowed to resell it without the airbag repair. Well once you get your car into a dealership, there is also a chance that you wont be able to get a loaner car from the dealership. One bay area dealership tells me that there are just so many cars affected that they dont have the inventories to give out loaner cars. Imagine they are busy, lee. The majority of them are in the 2001 to 2003year models. And at the Memorial Church for one of the apartments that they provide for the chronically homeless. Just seven months ago, the 62 yearold finally got the news that she had been praying for. And that i dont have to worry about it. You know, that they cannot stop more than once. Buchanan says after spending so many years on the streets, that it would help her get sober off of drugs. When i walk down the treatment street that people are smoking it, i smell it. Janice america tonnie who founded the church in the heart of tenderloin have been on the front lines in the fight against homelessness for more than 50 years. America tawny says that housing is the first step, but doesnt stop there. A homeless person, when you have them housed that they will not regain their housing if they are not supported. You dont continue their recovery, you dont continue to have community, or medical and Mental Healthcare and management. It is very difficult. America tawnie says that they have a range of programs for the homeless because everyones need is different from the drug addicted to the to the members of the lbgt rly community. The people that are homeless are perceived as if that is as if that is their choice in life and its not. So many people are homeless because they lost their jobs. So many people in San Franciscoare newly homeless because of the rent. Reporter it has skyrocketed to 4,500 a month. Fueled by demand from a high paid tech workers in the city. Demand is also wiped out Available Space in singleroom occupancy hotels, typically providing rooms to hundreds of Homeless People through contracts with the city. But many landlords are now renting those rooms out to paying tenants for more than 1,200 a month. During the last fiscal year the number of available views in San Francisco plunged from 340 to just 76 as more landlords discover they could cash in. Jennifer fredenbach say that the biggest challenge at hand is the lack of Affordable Housing in the city. And that is where we would take a nose dive for San Francisco, where the pipeline over the next secure system is frightening. If we continue on this direction, then we think that it is bad now, we will see that explosion on the numbers for People Living on the streets. Reporter camp dodge is working long hours to make sure that it doesnt happen. And as second in command that the mayors newly formed department to deal with homelessness, called the office of hope, that they would dodge and convince the city to reach the Mayors School of helping 8,000 people out of homelessness in the next four years. It is a big challenge, but you know that we live in a community that thinks very easily about selfdriving cars or therapies, but you know that this idea of housing cures homelessness and that it is going to find housing for those that need it that i could reject and i know that we could do this. Reporter starting next month, they will move out of the cramped office in the basement of city hall and expand from six employees to more than 100. With an annual budget of a quarter of a billion dollars. We havent had the opportunity to do to Work Together in the system and really all in the same direction and all of our assets towards the same strategy. Reporter the former San Francisco mayor does not share the same optimism. Theres no way the current mayor could establish such an ambitious goal. Theres not enough Affordable Housing. Theres not enough available housing. And the process we go to and the speed in which they would engage in that you would probably expire by the time they would get built. Reporter brown says that the number of Homeless People has doubled since he was mayor because of what he would describe as the migration of Homeless People to San Francisco. Reporter they are in the other locations with no doubt that people will tell them exactly or how much better off you are if you are in need in San Francisco verses some other place. And so they will migrate to San Francisco for that purpose and we are very generous. But the city is gradually finding space, buying up properties, adding rooms for Homeless People where they could live to have peace of mind. A peace of mind that they are feeling for the first time in years. I will stay out. But im glad i didnt. Reporter her heart is filled with gratitude because she finally has a place to call home. Im very grateful that i finally reach that front. Reporter the city currently houses about 6,000 Homeless People and that it does not include people in shelters. In addition to the new housing thats coming online, which includes 600 units for this year that they are also providing their vouchers to Homeless People to get them back into the Housing Market. We heard the former mayor say that people actually migrate here because it is a better way of life for a homeless person. Do the numbers really back that up . According to the survey done last year about 33 of those homeless in the city, that they became homeless somewhere else and then moved to San Francisco. But the vast majority became homeless while living in San Francisco. Reporter do they think that it is solvable, do they believe it is the first step . With the state or federal levels that when you tell me that it was a problem and they would be here with it. What about yourself . Have you been working on these stories for a couple of weeks now, the ones that have aired this week. What have you learned about this issue . It is very complex as i said the last ten weeks are hot. There are so many different stories, theres a wide range of problems, but the woman we profiled in that piece today, she was homeless for more than ten years with people on the streets who have been there for 10, 20, 30 years. With her it was a simple solution to get her into housing and to get her the help that she needs. Now what he did was as he was starting to move the patients he put his hand on top of the genital region of two different patients, but quickly moved it off. And the third patient their hand went underneath, so skin to skin, but it was only there a second or two. The crime was committed. And he did earlier on confess to it. And so you tell me, is that an appropriate sentence or not an appropriate sentence . And one year in this case that it might be appropriate. And we will be talking about this because of the brock turner case that it happened this week. And their National Womens rights group dropped off 2,000 signatures on the judicial performance, i bet you have never heard much about this commission and that they are requesting that the judge be removed from the case as well as the signatures before. And that the judge really has to step out of bounce, to do something unethical and treat their courtroom staff and the people in the court just horrible and then they could step in and make out some sort of punishment. Hundreds of thousands of those people that would think it is unethical. I understand that. They may or may not be right that i dont agree as you know with the way that were going about it to remove that judge from their bench, for one decision that he makes in good faith. Will they be successful there . No. Lets move on to an interesting murder case in michigan, not that any murder is interesting, but that it is the testimony that the prosecutor may or may not get into the courtroom as evidence. And they were accused of accused of killing her husband. Apparently that there was a parrot, that went to live with relatives after the victim was killed in this case. And that they started saying dont be f word shoot and that they are claiming that the bird is mimicking the final moments of this mans life. Do we enter this court as evidence . And they could certainly try. That is my verdict, no way, no way it is coming in and keep that in mind what you would say a minute ago. It went to relatives, that they happened to be the exwife if i recall correctly. They were trying to get that away . Who knows, but you can hear something one time.
